God Slayer: Make Up for the Past

Chapter 27: Evil Spirit Conspiracy

Darkness engulfed the library, leaving only the spiderweb-like cracks in the ceiling emitting a terrifying, evil light. Chu Feng clasped Pan Yue's hand, his palms breaking out in sweat. "The back mountain..." Chu Feng repeated Pan Yue's words, a chill running through his heart. The evil energy was spreading directly towards the back mountain of the campus, a forbidden area rarely visited by students. If the evil spirit targeted the back mountain, the consequences would be disastrous.

"We must stop it!" Chu Feng said in a firm tone. He knew that time was running out and every second was crucial.

They groped their way to the sealed library door. Chu Feng took a deep breath, summoned the feeble spiritual energy within him, and punched the door. The wooden door thudded with a dull thud, but remained motionless. "Damn it!" Chu Feng cursed under his breath and punched again, but to no avail. The library walls seemed to be reinforced by a powerful force, becoming indestructible.

"Try the window!" Pan Yue reminded calmly.

The two quickly came to the window, but found that the window was also blocked by an invisible force and could not be opened.

"The evil spirit doesn't want us to leave..." Chu Feng gritted his teeth, feeling extremely anxious. If they were trapped here, they would be unable to stop the evil spirit's plot, and the entire campus would be in danger.

Suddenly, Chu Feng sensed a powerful surge of evil energy coming from the back of the mountain, stronger and more disturbing than before. He jerked his head up and looked toward the back of the mountain, his eyes filled with worry. He knew the evil spirit was accelerating its plans, and he needed to find a breakthrough quickly.

"Bang!" A loud bang was heard, and the library door was finally knocked open by a powerful force from the outside. The glaring light shone in, and Chu Feng and Pan Yue subconsciously covered their eyes.

Standing at the door was Xiao Baoan, holding a broken stick in his hand, looking at them breathlessly. "Are you all right?" Xiao Baoan asked with concern.

"Master Xiao, the evil spirit's conspiracy is in the back mountain, we must stop it!" Chu Feng didn't have time to explain too much, and pulled Pan Yue and ran out.

However, as soon as they ran out of the library, they ran into the angry Principal Guo.

"Chu Feng! What are you doing?" Principal Guo shouted. "What's going on with the library door? Do you know how much panic this will cause?"

"Principal, the evil spirit is in the back mountain..." Chu Feng wanted to explain anxiously.

"Enough!" Principal Guo interrupted him impatiently, "I don't want to listen to your nonsense anymore! I will handle the matters in the back mountain, you just stay here honestly!" Principal Guo's tone was full of suspicion and distrust. He always believed that Chu Feng was creating chaos.

Chu Feng's heart sank. He knew Principal Guo wouldn't believe him. He looked toward the back of the mountain. The evil aura was growing stronger and stronger. He didn't have time to waste.

"Principal, if you don't believe me, you can send someone to the back mountain to check." Chu Feng took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. "If you insist on stopping me, the consequences will be disastrous..."

Principal Guo sneered: "If anything really happens in the back mountain, I will naturally be responsible!"

Chu Feng looked at Principal Guo's cold expression. He knew that saying anything more would be useless. He turned to look at the students around him, his eyes firm and resolute... "Classmates, the evil spirit is in the back mountain..."

Chu Feng took a deep breath, ignoring Principal Guo's angry glare. He turned to face the students around him. His voice was particularly clear in the night: "Students, the evil spirit is in the back mountain. It is brewing a terrible conspiracy! The changes in the library are caused by it!"

Some students began to whisper, their eyes filled with fear and anxiety. Principal Guo's face turned pale, and he was about to scold them when he was interrupted by Chu Feng.

"I know many of you don't believe me and think I'm talking nonsense. However, I have seen the evil spirit with my own eyes and felt its evil power firsthand! If we don't stop it now, the consequences will be disastrous!" Chu Feng's voice was full of power, and his eyes were firm and sincere.

A thin boy stood out from the crowd. He said in a trembling voice, "I... I just felt... a very strange aura in the library..."

Another girl also said timidly: "Me...me too..."

More and more students came forward, expressing that they had also sensed something unusual. Their words were like pebbles, sending ripples through the crowd. Principal Guo's expression grew even uglier; he hadn't expected Chu Feng's words to resonate with so many students.

Chu Feng felt a warm feeling in his heart. He knew that even in the face of a powerful evil force, as long as they united as one, they would be able to defeat it. "Thank you for believing in me!" He looked at the students who supported him with gratitude.

"Let's go to the back mountain together and stop the evil spirit!" Chu Feng's voice was full of appeal.

"Okay!" the students responded in unison, their eyes full of courage and determination.

Principal Guo stood aside with a gloomy face. He didn't expect things to develop to this point. He wanted to stop it, but found that he had lost control.

Chu Feng ignored Principal Guo and led the students towards the back mountain without hesitation. Pan Yue followed closely behind, his eyes gleaming with wisdom.

The mountain behind was eerie and gloomy. Tall trees blocked out the sun, preventing the moonlight from penetrating. Only tiny specks of starlight shone through, creating a strange and eerie scene.

Chu Feng and Pan Yue moved forward cautiously. They felt a strong evil spirit in the air, which was suffocating.

"Be careful!" Pan Yue suddenly warned.

As soon as he finished speaking, the ground suddenly cracked, and countless sharp arrows shot out from the cracks, heading straight for Chu Feng and Pan Yue.

The rain of arrows was as dense as locusts, and the speed was so fast that it was impossible to defend against it. Chu Feng and Pan Yue's faces changed, and they dodged quickly.

"Bang bang bang!" The sharp arrows shot into the surrounding trees, making a dull sound.

Chu Feng was unable to dodge, and a sharp arrow flew past his arm, cutting his sleeve and leaving a shallow blood mark.

Pan Yue reacted quickly, forming seals with his hands and muttering something. The surrounding trees seemed to come alive, their branches rapidly growing and intertwining to form a solid barrier, blocking the dense rain of arrows.

The rain of arrows hit the barrier, making crackling sounds, but could not penetrate.

Pan Yue carefully observed the sharp arrows stuck in the trees. He found that the arrowheads were stained with a faint black aura, which was the evil spirit!

He followed the direction of the evil spirit and his gaze locked onto a shadow deep in the back mountain...

"There!" Pan Yue pointed to the shadows with a serious tone.

Chu Feng followed Pan Yue's gaze and felt a chill in his heart... "Let's go!"

Chu Feng and Pan Yue cautiously approached the dark area Pan Yue had pointed out. With every step, the oppressive atmosphere grew thicker, a cold, heavy pressure bearing down on them. In the unnatural silence, the rustling of leaves sounded like whispered warnings. An invisible energy flickered in the air, causing the hairs on their arms to stand on end.

"Stay alert," Chu Feng whispered, his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of his ceremonial dagger. He knew they were entering the heart of danger.

Pan Yue nodded, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of movement. He chanted softly, delicately manipulating the surrounding flora, ready for any sudden attack.

They hadn't gone far when strange, shadowy figures began to emerge from the darkness. These weren't humans, but twisted, animal-like forms, their eyes glowing an evil red. Deep, growling sounds emanated from their twisted throats.

"They're coming," Chu Feng whispered, gripping his dagger tightly. He took a deep breath and lunged forward, confronting the creatures head-on. His movements were swift and decisive, almost impossibly fast in the dim light. He deliberately drew their attention, allowing Pan Yue to analyze their movements and weaknesses.

The creatures swarmed toward him, their claws lashing and teeth snapping. Chu Feng nimbly dodged and weaved between their attacks, his dagger striking with swift precision. Though outnumbered, he remained undeterred. He knew his mission was to distract them, to buy time.

Meanwhile, Pan Yue stood back, his eyes narrowed in concentration. He observed the creatures' movements, noting their attack patterns and weaknesses. He noticed how they relied on brute force, their movements predictable and clumsy. He also noticed a faint, pulsating light emanating from their chests—their cores.

"Chu Feng, their chests!" he shouted, pointing the direction to his companions.

Chu Feng immediately understood and changed his tactics. He continued to parry their attacks, but now focused on luring them into a position where they would expose their vulnerable core.

Then Pan Yue moved. He channeled his energy, manipulating the vines and roots that snaked across the forest floor. Thorns burst from the earth and entangled the creatures, pinning them in place and exposing their glowing chests. Chu Feng seized the opportunity, his dagger striking with pinpoint accuracy. One by one, the creatures fell, vanishing into shadows.

They continued to advance deeper into the darkness, the silence broken only by the crunch of leaves under their feet and the echo of dripping water in the distance. The air grew colder, the oppressive feeling more intense. They were approaching their goal.

Suddenly, a deafening roar shattered the silence, shaking the very ground beneath their feet. It was the sound of primal power, unbridled fury. The trees around them trembled, their leaves rustling violently. A palpable wave of energy radiated outward, forcing Chu Feng and Pan Yue to stumble back a few steps.

They exchanged a worried look. This was no ordinary creature. What lurked ahead was far more powerful than anything they had encountered before.

The roaring sounded again, closer this time, and was followed by the sound of heavy footsteps rustling through the underbrush. A terrifying shadow began to form in the distance, growing larger with each passing moment.

Chu Feng and Pan Yue gripped their weapons tightly, their hearts pounding in their chests. They knew they were facing a powerful enemy, one with immense power.

The question is, can they survive?
