Opening a Tavern in the Tang Dynasty

Chapter 262: It’s so cold, go out for a walk, and the travelers are shivering with cold

The first ray of sunlight in the morning shines through the window of Zuixianlou and falls on Yu Yu's bed.

She got up early, put on the cotton-padded jacket made by her mother, and prepared to go out in high spirits.

Xiaoyu heard the noise and got up. She walked to Yuyu's room and saw that her daughter was already dressed and ready to go out.

"You're up so early," Xiaoyu rubbed her eyes, still a little sleepy, "Where are you going?"

Yuyu turned around with an excited smile on her face: "Mom, I want to go out."

Xiaoyu frowned and asked with concern, "Why are you going out? It's so cold."

Yuyu shook her head, a mischievous glint in her eyes: "It's not cold at all, it hasn't started snowing yet, I want to go out for a walk."

Xiaoyu sighed. She knew her daughter's temper. Once she made a decision, it would be difficult to change it.

She walked to the closet, took out a thick scarf, and gently wrapped it around Yuyu's neck: "Okay, then you should wear more clothes, and put on this scarf too, so you don't get cold."

Yuyu nodded. She felt her mother's care and warmth. "Okay, mother. I will be careful."

Xiaoyu reminded him again: "Remember to come back early. It's cold outside. Don't stay outside for too long."

Yu Yu agreed, then walked out of Zuixianlou briskly and set off for the market.

In the early morning, the city of Chang'an was still shrouded in a thin layer of mist. There were not many pedestrians on the streets, but the market was already bustling.

The cries of vendors, the clatter of carriage wheels, and the chirping of early birds create a lively picture of the market in the early morning.

Yu Yu walked around the market, her eyes looking at the various fresh goods curiously.

She picked some fresh vegetables and fruits to take to Zuixianlou.

As Yuyu sorted through the goods at the market, she muttered to herself, her voice tinged with dreaminess and anticipation: "This is our first winter since traveling to the Tang Dynasty. I'm really looking forward to the snow. We haven't even seen snow on Earth yet, and now we've traveled here."

As soon as she finished speaking, a pedestrian wearing a thick cotton coat and with a pale face from the cold hurried past. Hearing Yu Yu's words, he couldn't help but interrupt, "You're still looking forward to snow, it's so cold."

Yuyu turned her head and looked at the traveler who was obviously exhausted from a long journey. Her eyes sparkled with longing for snow: "Why not look forward to snow? Snow is so beautiful, the whole world becomes covered in silver, so beautiful."

The man sighed, rubbed his frozen hands, and said with a wry smile, "I rushed here from the border. It's already snowing there, and it's unbearable over there. The snow is beautiful, but it's really cold, especially for people like us on the road."

Yuyu looked sympathetic after hearing this. "It sounds like you're having a hard time. Is the snow really heavy at the border? I heard the snowy scenery is beautiful, but it's also really cold."

The pedestrian nodded. "Yes, the snow scene is indeed beautiful, but the heavy snow for several consecutive days is a test for those of us who need to travel outside. However, you are still lucky, little girl, to be able to look forward to the snow scene in the city and don't have to suffer from the cold like us."

Yuyu smiled. Her mood was not affected by the words of the passersby. Instead, she looked forward to the arrival of snow even more. "Then when you get to Zuixianlou, you must come in and warm up. We have hot tea and hot food there to keep away the cold."

The passerby nodded gratefully. "Thank you, little girl. I'll have to give it a try. I've heard of the reputation of your Zuixianlou, and today's a good opportunity to try it."

Yuyu pointed in the direction happily: "It's not far ahead. Just walk along this street and turn the corner and you'll be there. I hope you can find warmth with us."

The pedestrian thanked him and quickened his pace towards Zuixianlou.

Yuyu looked at the hurried passerby and suddenly realized that she should hurry back to Zuixianlou. She said to the passerby, "Wait a minute, I'll go back too."

The pedestrian stopped and turned around, a look of confusion on his face: "Are you going back too? Are you going back to Zuixianlou?"

Yuyu nodded, her smile tinged with mischief: "Yes, I should go back too. My mother and brother are waiting for me to bring back fresh ingredients. Besides, I also want to get back to Zuixianlou as soon as possible, where it's warm."

The pedestrian smiled, with a hint of warmth in his voice: "Then let's go together. I'm also going to Zuixianlou, hoping to find some warmth there."

Yu Yu happily agreed. She picked up the ingredients she had selected and walked towards Zuixianlou with the pedestrians.

In the cold wind of the early morning, the footsteps of the two echoed in the empty streets, and their conversation and laughter seemed particularly warm in the cold air.

A passerby asked as he walked by: "Little girl, what were you mumbling about just now?"

Yuyu blinked, her voice carrying a hint of mystery: "No...nothing, just saying I'm looking forward to snowing, no mumbling or anything."

The pedestrian nodded: "Is that so?"

She couldn't let others know that her family had traveled through time, or they might be mistaken for monsters.

Soon, the sign of Zuixianlou appeared in their sight and the two quickened their pace.

Yuyu pushed open the door, and a warm current rushed towards her. She turned around and said to the passers-by: "Welcome to Zuixianlou, this is your safe haven."

The passerby smiled gratefully as he walked into Zuixianlou and was immediately surrounded by the warmth and liveliness inside.

Yu Yu walked quickly to the kitchen, ready to hand over the fresh ingredients to Chef Mi.

Chef Mi took the ingredients from Yuyu's hand. His movements were skillful and quick. While sorting the fresh vegetables and fruits, he looked up and asked Yuyu, "Yuyu, where did you go just now?"

Yuyu took off her scarf and hung it on the hook by the door, then walked over to Chef Mi and helped him organize the ingredients. "I went for a walk in the market and met a traveler from the border. He was freezing, so I invited him to come to Zuixianlou to warm up."

Chef Mi nodded, a hint of approval in his eyes. "You're right. It's so cold, and every effort to help is appreciated." He continued, "Where is the pedestrian now?"

Yuyu pointed to the hall and said, "I'll let him sit over there and drink some hot tea to warm himself up."

Chef Mi smiled and said as he washed the vegetables, "You go warm up the stove, I'll take care of this."

Yu Yu nodded, walked to the stove in the kitchen, poured a cup of hot tea, and then walked into the hall.

She found the traveler, who was sitting by the fire, holding a cup of hot tea in his hand, and his face looked much more relaxed.

Yuyu handed him the hot tea: "Here, this cup of hot tea will make you feel warmer."

The passerby took the teacup and looked at Yuyu gratefully: "Thank you, little girl. This tea is just what I need."

Yuyu sat down opposite him, her eyes sparkling with excitement: "You're welcome."
