Legend of Mir 2: Seeking the Truth in Marfa
Chapter 55 Blocking the Door
Brooke also noticed the guild's message and smiled slightly. Now that the pharmacy has become famous, business will surely improve. Uncle Fu's medicinal powder is limited in quantity and won't affect Zhengnan's Bairimen pharmacy business.
At this time, Brook had already arrived at Mengzhongtu City and was waiting for Bayin at the door of the inn.
Bayinbibrook returned to Tucheng 20 minutes earlier than him. He went to the Stone Tomb first and just lured 5 evil maggot babies. He used the return scroll and was on his way back.
The two met up and walked into the inn together. There were not many guests in the inn. Miss Lin was leaning against the door leading to the second-floor guest rooms, her body straight, her hands crossed and hanging in front of her abdomen, a smile on her face, as if she was doing some kind of bodybuilding exercise.
When Miss Lin saw Bayinbuluke walk in and saw the smiles on their faces, she had a good feeling and immediately walked up to them and asked, "You two are back so soon! Could it be..."
"Yes, we found your good friend Chengnan. She praised the pastries for being delicious. This is the reply letter she wrote to you." Brooke took out the letter.
Miss Lin took the letter excitedly and opened it to read immediately. She paced back and forth as she read, as if she was thinking about something.
"Chengnan asked me to issue a quest codenamed the Mysterious Shop, and it can only be issued to kind-hearted warriors from other worlds. I fully support her decision," Ms. Lin said with a resolute expression. "As far as I know, there's a novice quest in Biqi Province for warriors from other worlds. It involves multiple branches that help the residents of Marfa. The quest is very complicated, and only a very small number of people will complete it. I will contact the officials in Biqi, and only those who have completed the entire set of novice quests will be directed to me to receive the subsequent Mysterious Shop quest."
This is a good idea. Only those alien warriors who are willing to help the people of Marfa are eligible to accept the mysterious shop mission. Bayin and Brooke nodded in agreement with Miss Lin's decision.
Miss Lin carefully put the letter away and smiled at Bayin and Brooke, saying, "The successful manufacture of the Womar weapons will surely attract the attention of the Imperial City. I will highlight you two in my report to the officials at Biqi. I believe you will receive generous prestige rewards. Thank you so much!"
Brook and Bayin quickly expressed their gratitude. As Marfa monks, delivering information to Chengnan, the weapon-making master, was their duty.
The two said goodbye to Miss Lin. Before leaving, Brooke asked Miss Lin how many bottles of good wine she had bought, and then left the inn. Miss Lin mentioned reputation, and the two almost forgot to exchange for medals and immediately walked towards the warehouse.
The Tucheng Warehouse is located right next to the Tucheng Inn. Due to the high volume of traffic, the warehouse is staffed with several managers. Standing at the entrance is the owner of the Yuelai Inn, who can access items.
Entering the warehouse, the first floor is occupied by a warehouse keeper who can also store and retrieve items, bundle bulk potions and scrolls, and provide gold coin and gold bar exchange services.
The two walked up the stairs to the second floor of the warehouse and saw another merchant who could also exchange gold coins and gold bars. Next to the merchant stood a medal guardian.
"Hello, respected medal guardian. We want to redeem the medal." Brook and Bayin walked forward and said.
"Hello, young Marfa monks. This is the list for redeeming medals. Please take a look at it yourself. If you have any questions, you can ask me." said the medal guardian.
The two examined it carefully. The medals were divided into four levels, each with five different medals. Furthermore, there were character level requirements for wearing them.
The first-level medals are No. 11, No. 12, No. 13, No. 14, and No. 15. They can only be worn by characters at level 7.
The second-level medals are No. 21, No. 22, No. 23, No. 24, and No. 25. They can only be worn by characters at level 14.
There are three levels of medals: No. 31, No. 32, No. 33, No. 34, and No. 35. You must be at level 21 to wear them.
There are four levels of medals: No. 41, No. 42, No. 43, No. 44, and No. 45. You must be at level 28 to wear them.
Different badge numbers represent different attributes. Badges ending in 1 increase defense, 2 increases magic defense, 3 increases attack, 4 increases magic, and 5 increases magic. For example, badge number 11 increases defense by 0-1, while badge number 15 increases magic by 0-1.
Redeeming medals requires reputation. There are two ways to redeem medals: random redemption and designated redemption.
To redeem a first-level medal, 20 reputation points are required for normal exchange; 80 reputation points are required for designated exchange.
To redeem the second-level medal, 40 reputation points are required; to redeem it, 160 reputation points are required.
To redeem the third-level medal, 60 reputation points are required for normal exchange; 240 reputation points are required for designated exchange.
To redeem the fourth-level medal, 80 reputation points are required; to redeem it, 320 reputation points are required.
Bayin and Brooke both currently have only 50 reputation points. If they want to exchange for a Level 4 medal and designate No. 44 and No. 45, they still need a lot of reputation points. Once the medal is exchanged, the reputation points will be consumed.
Should they continue to accumulate reputation or redeem it now? The two of them couldn't help but hesitate.
"Excuse me, besides completing quests, are there other ways to gain reputation?" Brook asked.
"Yes. You can get it by accepting disciples. This is also the way warriors from other worlds gain reputation." The medal guardian replied.
"How do you accept a disciple?" Brook continued to ask. Just now at the gate of Ginkgo Village, someone was pestering him to become his apprentice.
"That's a long story. To put it simply, after a monk reaches level 28, he can accept a disciple through the instructor of Bi Qi's martial arts school. As the disciple's level increases, from level 22 to level 35, both the master and the disciple can gain a certain amount of reputation with each level of the disciple. If the disciple can upgrade to level 35 and become a master, the master can gain a total of 32 reputation points, and the apprentice can gain a total of 19 reputation points." The medal guardian explained patiently.
To take on an apprentice, he had to level up all the way to level 35, and only then was he given 32 reputation points... Brook shook his head. This method of taking on an apprentice was a bit too difficult for him. It was better to do quests.
Regardless of the method, reputation is not easy to obtain. In general, medals are very expensive.
"Where should I put the medal after I exchange it? In my backpack? Or somewhere else?" Bayin asked.
"The medal is placed where you placed the torch." The medal guardian replied.
"Then how can I use a torch? You mean, if I wear a medal, I can't use a torch?" Bayin was puzzled. If I can't use a torch with a medal, then this medal is useless. Because many monsters in Marfa Continent are in caves, without the illumination of torches, it is difficult to move.
"Haha~ You don't need torches when you use medals! Special gem materials were added when making these medals, so the medals have magical lighting functions, and the effect is better than torches!" said the medal guardian proudly.
This medal actually has this function?! What a surprise! Just for this lighting function, the two of them had to redeem one.
Brook and Bayin discussed it and decided to spend the least amount of reputation, using the normal random method to redeem a Level 4 medal each. They would save the remaining reputation for later redemption of Level medals.
巴音先行兑换,随机得到了一枚12号勋章,魔御0-1;而布鲁克则随机兑换到了一枚14号勋章,魔法0-1。
Brooke felt lucky. He gave Medal No. 14 to Bayin, and Bayin gave him Medal No. 12. They each donned one of their own. Sure enough, the surroundings instantly became brighter, brighter and softer than the light of a torch.
Both of them were satisfied with the medal. So they said goodbye to the medal guardian and prepared to go to the Stone Tomb to level up.
Bayin currently has a level 30 quest to summon a hornfly. If she can complete it, Brooke will also benefit. Having said that, although the two of them have completed several quests in the past few days, they have also consumed a lot of time. So now we must seriously level up.
现在巴音等级27级,经验值92万/100万。布鲁克等级27级,经验值52万/100万。
After they left the warehouse, Brooke went to the Tucheng South Gate Butcher Shop to buy some fresh mutton. He had promised the pharmacy owner that he would bring him some barbecue.
Ready, the stone tomb next to the two of them. The entrance to the stone tomb is at the top of a mound made of a mixture of rocks and soil. To enter, you need to walk up the steps step by step.
When the two came to the bottom of the mound, they found many people queuing up.
"Strange, why are there so many people all of a sudden?" Bayin wondered. When she entered half an hour ago, everything went smoothly. It wasn't even 10 a.m. yet, so it wasn't rush hour.
They waited at the back of the line. However, the line moved incredibly slowly. After waiting for a minute, it only moved a few steps forward.
"What's going on up ahead? Why is it stuck and we can't move? Let's go!" Someone in the team kept urging.
"Someone is blocking the door." The person at the front of the line turned around and said to the back.
"Huh? Blocking the door? Blocking what door?" Everyone was puzzled.
"Blocking the door, collecting entrance fees! 5000 gold coins each. No one is allowed in without money!" the person in front explained.
"What!! Isn't this robbery in broad daylight?"
"Who the hell is this? Which idiot dares to block the door?"
"Shh, keep your voice down. It's not just one person, it's a team. Be careful or they won't let you in and will explode you."
"Damn! Is there any law here?"
"The king's law? There's a bow and arrow guard right next to the stone tomb, and if he doesn't care, who will?"
"Why doesn't anyone kill him?"
"They're a team, can you beat them? Besides, they're not afraid of death at all. The one blocking the door is a warrior wearing tattered equipment. Even if you can kill him, aren't you afraid of being named a red card? The archer guards are right next to them, specifically targeting red cards, watching them closely~"
“...Wipe it~”
It was obvious that someone so fearless as to block the door must be a warrior from another world. Brook and Bayin were helpless, but they also wanted to see who had come up with such a bizarre idea as blocking the door and charging admission. They continued to wait in line.
After another 2 minutes, the team in front still didn't move. Some people couldn't wait any longer, so they squeezed out of the team and decided to go to the Centipede Cave to level up.
Brook couldn't stand it anymore, so he said to the person in front of him, "Move aside, let me pass."
The person in front was waiting anxiously. Hearing someone behind him urging him, he turned around impatiently and was about to explode and point fingers and curse when his eyes suddenly caught sight of the Wuji Staff in Brook's hand. He was stunned for a moment, and then immediately looked at Brook's other equipment. He immediately nodded and bowed to the side, making a gesture of invitation with his outstretched hand: "Okay, big boss, you go first!"
The people around also saw this scene and began to observe Brook silently. Their jaws almost dropped when they saw this:
A full body of top-tier equipment! That medal beneath the necklace is something I've never seen before! And the elder, what the hell is that? It's unheard of!
Without Brook's repeated instructions, the people around them consciously made way for Brook and Bayin.
Brook and the others finally reached the stairs. From this position, they could clearly see the entrance to the stone tomb.
I'm Bald! The warrior blocking the door turned out to be an old acquaintance of Brook's. I'm Bald!
The entrance to the stone tomb was only wide enough for one person, and I was blocked by my bald head. In front of the entrance were steps, slightly wider, wide enough for two people to walk side by side. To my right, in front of me, stood the Taoist priest, "Rainless," blocking the entrance with one in front and one behind.
"Because too many people have entered the Stone Tomb to level up recently. In order to control the number of people in the Stone Tomb and to provide everyone with a comfortable leveling environment, we have decided to take ticket purchase restrictions. 5000 gold coins per person, the price is not expensive. Those who are willing to pay can line up and those who are not willing can leave quickly." Xia Yu Bu Chou said loudly with his chest puffed out.
