Legend of Mir 2: Seeking the Truth in Marfa

Chapter 110 The Gate of Taoyuan

Brook's vision went dark, then bright again, and they landed on a patch of grass. Surrounded by skeletons, they were not the skeletons from the Orc Tomb. They were holding bronze axes, and each one was a mutant skeleton!

I heard heavy breathing sounds coming from the left rear. When I turned around, I saw that they were two divine beasts!

You are not mistaken, it is the kind of divine beast that Master carries behind him!

The monsters slowly gathered around Brook and Bayin, and Brook immediately became invisible.

"Are the monsters here all the Taoist priests' babies?" Bayin was also shocked.

"I don't know. Master didn't describe this place in detail. He just talked about how to enter the 8th floor of the stone tomb, and that there is a secret door in a house on the 8th floor that can drop level 40 warrior clothes. Maybe Master just heard about it from others, but he didn't come here in person." Brook guessed.

Neither of them moved, just observing for a while.

This place, called Taoyuan Gate, is a beautiful valley. The surrounding monsters include mutant skeletons, mythical beasts, and a small creature called a bee. Nearby are a few peach trees, and in the distance, a few dilapidated wooden houses, seemingly in disrepair and uninhabited.

I don’t know which house the secret door that Master mentioned is.

That's all I can see for now. The notes don't record the strength of these monsters, so I'll have to test them myself. Brook cast a telepathic revelation on several of the surrounding monsters.

Mutated skeleton, 700 HP.

Divine beast, HP 495.

Bee, HP 200.

The strength does not seem to be very strong.

Brook and Bayin began to kill these mutant skeletons and mythical beasts one by one. Based on the damage, they estimated that the mutant skeletons had a magic defense and defense of 25 points, and the mythical beasts had a defense and magic defense of 15 points. As for the bees, they were relatively weak, with a defense of about 3 points.

These monsters only dropped some medium-sized potions and ordinary equipment, and nothing special was found.

"Very familiar...this place..." Xiaobai's voice sounded in Brook's mind.

"Xiaobai, do you know this place?" Brooke asked. Suddenly, he changed his mind and immediately asked, "Is this your home?"

When a Taoist uses the Mutated Skeleton skill, he consumes three amulets: one to open the teleportation channel, one to summon a Mutated Skeleton from a certain dimension, and the last to sign the contract. I've never known where Xiaobai was summoned from, but could it be this Peach Blossom Gate?

"Brooke, what's wrong? Are you talking to Xiaobai?" Bayin could only hear Brooke's voice, but she couldn't hear Xiaobai's voice.

"Xiaobai said he knew this place." Brook replied.

“Xiaobai can talk?!”

"Yeah. But only I can hear it. I'll tell you later." Brooke replied.

"Home? This peach tree looks familiar... I like it..." Xiaobai seemed to be lost in memories.

Brooke and Bayin both stopped. Xiaobai circled around the peach tree in front of him.

"I remember. I used to like circling around it like this. I used to live here. Later, I was teleported away by a mysterious force, and it seemed like I signed a contract." Xiaobai said.

Brook was embarrassed. The mysterious power that Xiaobai mentioned should be the one he used to summon Xiaobai to Mengzhongtu City using the Skeleton Summoning skill.

"Okay, Xiaobai. It seems this is your home. But these mutated skeletons have 700 health. When you summoned them, their health was only 120." Brook said.

"I remember now. My previous level was 50, with 700 HP, 25-40 attack, 25 magic defense, and 25 defense. It was that contract that limited my level and strength." Xiaobai said.

"Um, Xiaobai. I didn't mean to limit your strength. I was just summoning skeletons normally. Don't blame me." Brook said embarrassedly.

"Yeah. You're very good to me. You give me lessons every day, teach me a lot of knowledge, give me clothes to wear, and treat me to mutton. I don't blame you." Xiaobai said.

Brook's forehead was sweating. This Skeleton Summoning skill forcibly dragged Xiaobai out without asking his consent; the contract was probably also forced, bullying the monster for its low IQ.

"Xiaobai, are you still willing to follow me now? If you want to stay in the Peach Blossom Gate forever, I can find a way." Brook asked.

"I...I have signed the contract. You are Brook, you are my master and my friend. I am willing to follow you." Xiaobai said.

"...I understand. You stay with me for now. I'll let you come back when I have the chance." Brooke sensed Xiaobai's attachment to this place. If it weren't for the constraints of the contract, Xiaobai might have chosen to return here.

This valley is vast, filled with countless mutant skeletons and mythical beasts. The Taoist priests of Marfa summon their babies from here. However, there must be some secret Brook doesn't know about. Otherwise, no matter how vast the valley is, or how many mutant skeletons and mythical beasts there are, they will all be summoned by the Taoist priests.

Just now Xiaobai said that he was originally level 50. Hey, I didn't expect Xiaobai to be so powerful.

"Bayin, it's okay. This is Xiaobai's home. The Taoist priests' babies should be summoned from here. Xiaobai also said that the mutated skeletons here are level 50. Let's walk around first and see if there are other exits here." Brook explained.

Bayin could only hear Brooke's voice and only half understood what he heard. Now that Brooke said everything was fine, he felt relieved.

The two began to explore around the valley.

This valley was completely enclosed, surrounded by mountains, with no other exits. If one wanted to leave, it seemed the only option was to use a City Portal.

There were many monsters here, but the drops weren't very good. The two had initially tried to ignore them, but their numbers kept growing. Furthermore, some of the 700 HP mutant skeletons had ranged attacks, throwing axes like the Orc Leader. Now it was difficult to move quickly, so the two had to stop and use group attacks like Fire Wall and Ice Roar to clear out the monsters.

Then, an anomaly was discovered. Three of the mythical beasts had exceptionally high HP. Even after the other beasts had been slain, these beasts remained standing. Brooke gave them a spiritual revelation and discovered that these beasts had a whopping 3 HP.

Could they be the leaders of the monsters at the Peach Blossom Spring Gate?

Brook did some research on them and found that these 2400 HP Divine Beasts had only slightly higher attack than 495 HP Divine Beasts. Their defense, magic defense, and movement speed were even worse than those of ordinary Divine Beasts.

The two of them killed these three beasts, all of which had huge explosions. The last one even dropped a book called "Fiery Sword Technique".

The drop rate for level 35 skill books was very low. The two of them had been fighting in the Demon Sealing Valley for so long, and on average, they only managed to get one or two per day. Unexpectedly, the monsters at the Peach Blossom Gate could drop a high-level skill book, which was very exciting. There were still many people in the guild who were short of high-level skill books.

Brook and the others became interested and began to search for this 2400 HP beast. This beast was actually very easy to identify because its movement speed was much slower than the 495 HP beast, and it could be found by just running around.

The two searched everywhere, luring a large group of demonic beasts. A divine beast fell behind. Hey, he found another one. Bayin suddenly had an idea and cast a Holy Word spell on the divine beast.

Bang! The beast exploded like a balloon, and was instantly killed by the Saint, and a book called "Summoning Divine Beasts" was revealed.

The two looked at each other in surprise. This divine beast could actually use holy words!

Bayin knew that Holy Words could only be used on undead monsters. Furthermore, there was a prerequisite: the character's level couldn't be lower than two levels below the monster. She was currently level 2. Could this beast with 40 HP be less than level 2400?

Let's try again. Bayin used the Holy Word on the mutant skeleton and the 495 HP beast. He used it dozens of times, but it didn't work once.

It seems the monsters here have varying levels. The mutant skeleton might actually be level 50, but this mythical beast with 2400 HP, while high in HP, is actually very low in level. Its exact level is unknown.

It’s a pity that Situ Haoyun is not here, otherwise his level 4 mental revelation would be able to detect detailed information about the monster.

"Oh, right, let me ask Xiaobai. Maybe he knows." Brook suddenly had an idea and asked, "Xiaobai, you just said that the mutant skeleton here is level 50. What level is the mythical beast with 495 health points?"

"Level 43." Xiaobai knew it.

"Where's the Divine Beast with 2400 HP?"

"Level 38." Xiaobai replied.

"Ah? The level is lower when the health is higher? How can this be? Do you know, Xiaobai?" Brook asked a series of questions.

"I don't know." Xiaobai didn't understand either.

"Okay. Xiaobai said that the beast with 2400 HP is level 38, and the beast with 495 HP is level 43." Brook explained to Bayin.

"So that's how it is. Xiaobai is so smart that he can even tell the level of the monster." Bayin exclaimed.
