Hidden truth, intricate love

Chapter 29 Childhood Obsession

"Brother Beichen, are you asleep?" Xiaoya called Gu Beichen while lying in bed. "Not yet, Xiaoya, is there anything wrong?" Gu Beichen asked.

"Brother Beichen, I won't go back this time. I want to spend more time with you and Auntie!"

"Then aren't you going back to be with your parents? You're their only daughter?"

"I'm not going back. Mom said I'm not young anymore and I should make my own decisions!"

When Gu Beichen heard Xiaoya say this, his brows furrowed, but he was helpless because he always treated her as his own sister.

After hanging up the phone, Xiaoya lay on the bed and recalled what happened before...

Xiaoya's childhood was like a painting painted in warm colors, with Gu Beichen as an integral part of it. In her memory, the two were inseparable, from playing hide-and-seek to completing academic tasks together, and every moment of laughter and sharing was deeply etched in her heart.

Xiaoya remembers how, after school, she couldn't wait to run to Gu Beichen's classroom door to wait for him. The two of them walked home together, the setting sun casting long shadows. She loved listening to Gu Beichen share his wild ideas, his dreams and adventures for the future, which filled her with excitement and longing.

As time passed, Xiaoya discovered that her feelings for Gu Beichen were quietly changing. She began to collect every little detail about him: his favorite foods, his favorite books, the way he smiled. These small details became a secret treasure in her heart.

The arrival of puberty made Xiaoya's emotions more complex and richer. She began to realize that her feelings for Gu Beichen had gone beyond friendship. She longed for his attention and recognition, even secretly writing about her admiration for him in her diary.

However, Gu Beichen seemed oblivious to the change in Xiaoya's heart. His world was filled with more friends and interests, while Xiaoya remained on the fringes of his world, silently watching. Whenever she saw him chatting and laughing with other girls, an unspeakable sadness welled up in her heart.

Xiaoya's obsession took root and blossomed in her lonely watch. She began to fantasize about becoming an important person in Gu Beichen's life one day, about the two of them walking hand in hand through every spring, summer, autumn and winter. These fantasies became her deepest and strongest desire.

As she grew older, Xiaoya's obsession with Gu Beichen gradually turned into an obsession. She felt like she was caught in a whirlpool of emotions, unable to extricate herself. She began to follow his every move, even seeing him frequently in her dreams.

Xiaoya's childhood slipped away amidst laughter and joy with Gu Beichen, until one day, she stood in the airport terminal, clutching her ticket to a foreign country. Her heart was filled with longing for the future, but even more so, a deep reluctance to leave Gu Beichen.

Xiaoya has always dreamed of studying abroad, broadening her horizons and learning new things. However, this dream also means temporarily leaving Gu Beichen and the place filled with their shared memories. She's torn between her dream and separation.

At the airport, Gu Beichen accompanied Xiaoya as they waited for their flight. They chatted, and Xiaoya tried her best to smile, hiding her sadness from Gu Beichen. "Beichen, I will study hard and not let you down," she said, her voice trembling slightly.

Gu Beichen patted her shoulder gently and encouraged her, "Xiaoya, I'm proud of you. Go and pursue your dreams. I'll be here waiting for you to come back."

As the plane flew through the clouds, Xiaoya's thoughts remained on the ground. She imagined what Gu Beichen would be like without her, whether he would still remember her, whether he would miss her. These thoughts were like thin threads, tugging at her heart.

In a foreign country, Xiaoya quickly immersed herself in the intense study life. She tried hard to adapt to the new environment and make new friends, but every night when everyone was asleep, she would always face the moon outside the window alone, silently calling out Gu Beichen's name in her heart.

Despite being in a foreign country, Xiaoya's feelings for Gu Beichen grew stronger. She began writing letters to him, and although not every letter received a reply, she believed that Gu Beichen could feel her thoughts and sincerity.

Xiaoya's loneliness gradually turned into a kind of obsession as time passed. She became more independent and strong, but her deep obsession remained unchanged. She longed to return to Gu Beichen one day and tell him that all her efforts were to be with him.

With her studies complete, Xiaoya eagerly yearned for the day she would return home. She imagined a reunion with Gu Beichen, her heart filled with anticipation and excitement. She believed that the test of time and distance would only make her feelings more precious.

Xiaoya never thought that Gu Beichen always treated her as his sister, and there were other women around. She hated...
