Saint Seiya Evil Skull
Chapter 54: The Expansion of the Asgard
If the Nordic Palace wants to achieve good development, it not only needs a large population base and the support of top powerhouses, but also requires the joint effect of many factors such as an excellent leadership team, abundant resources, comprehensive intelligence support, and systematic inheritance and training.
As a time traveler, Alberich, with intimate knowledge of the entire storyline, is a leader. Originally considered one of the most intelligent individuals in Asgard, he now serves as one of the core leaders of the Nordic Asgard. Furthermore, he enjoys the full support of the God Warriors, led by Queen Hilda, and is deeply loved and respected by the residents of Asgard. In a sense, Alberich is fully capable of influencing the future of Asgard. Therefore, it can be said that in terms of leadership, Alberich is unmatched. This, of course, is also a manifestation of his confidence.
Regarding population, while Asgard has opened up to the five Nordic countries thanks to Albelissi, absorbing their elite population, the combined population of the five Nordic countries is only a little over 2000 million. Developed countries have low birth rates, so even in another decade or two, the population won't increase significantly. What about Asgard? Its indigenous population currently stands at just over 10. Over 2000 million is like magnifying it 100 times. Is 2000 million a lot? Not really. Consider that in 1980, the world's population was 44 billion, and in 1990, it was around 53 billion. Converting that 2000 million into 0.2 million would be 4 million, or about 10% of the world's population. While this percentage is declining year by year, it's still better than the previous , demonstrating just how high Asgard's success rate is!
Needless to say, in terms of strength and inheritance, Albelisi has done his best. It can be said that the Asgard has done its utmost!
Regarding intelligence, Asgard established an Inquisition, led by three God Warriors, each utterly loyal to Asgard. Considering the fact that Asgard only has fifteen God Warriors, the fact that three were dispatched at once demonstrates the importance Asgard places on them. These God Warriors are considered the elite of Asgard, possessing immense strength and unwavering conviction. Their assignment to the Inquisition signifies that Asgard has entrusted them with the most crucial intelligence work.
Since its establishment, the Inquisition has been diligently working. They have always remained committed to their duties, living up to the expectations of Asgard. No matter how difficult or dangerous the task, they have never flinched, forging ahead courageously. They not only shoulder the heavy responsibility of gathering intelligence but also actively participate in various operations, providing strong support to Asgard.
Throughout this process, the members of the Inquisition tirelessly traveled across various fields, pursuing every clue. They penetrated deep within the enemy ranks, engaged with various factions, and obtained crucial information. At the same time, they constantly refined their abilities to better accomplish their mission. It was thanks to their dedication and hard work that Asgard was able to gather more intelligence and make more informed decisions.
The most important remaining resource is resources, primarily minerals and medicines. The five Nordic countries cover a combined area of 130 million square kilometers. While per capita mineral resources are quite abundant, they primarily consist of forests, oil, natural gas, water resources, and fisheries—resources that the Asgards have little use for. Iron ore is also quite abundant, accounting for over % of the EU's iron ore production, but only slightly over % of global production. Copper, zinc, and other metal ores are also plentiful, but note that this is per capita. Compared to the global average, this is still far too small, especially given the current needs of the Asgards for manufacturing and maintaining combat suits, producing cultivation potions, and so on, all of which require vast quantities of minerals and medicines.
While Northern Europe possesses no shortage of iron and copper ore, other rare metals and precious medicines, due to geographical limitations, are not as abundant as other regions. In the past, Asgard's combatants were relatively few in number, and the demand for these resources was relatively small, so there was no significant pressure. At that time, most combatants used iron weapons, a relatively common resource for Northern Europe, so the impact was minimal. However, with the production of combat suits, the demand for various rare materials such as Thousand Year Cold Iron, Dragon Blood Stone, and Mithril increased dramatically.
Among them, the Thousand-Year Cold Iron was relatively easy to source, given Northern Europe's abundant iron ore resources and proximity to the Arctic Circle, which provided ideal conditions for its growth. However, other materials, such as Dragon's Blood Stone and Mithril, proved elusive. Over the years, Asgard had secretly and openly acquired a significant amount of these precious materials through the Asgard Auction House, but the production of this battle suit depleted their entire inventory. They were faced with two choices: either search for alternative materials or continue their efforts to gather the necessary rare resources.
Hagen and his team went through a lot of trouble to create the combat suit technology, which required many experiments. If they rashly changed the materials, they would undoubtedly have to conduct long experiments. What Asgard lacks most now is time. After all, there are only a few years left before the plot begins, and Alberich also feels that this is unfair to Hagen and his team.
After much consideration, Alubelisi decided to expand the Fairy Palace, move out of Northern Europe, and exchange space for resources. Alubelisi looked at the giant world map on the wall of his study, which was 8 meters long and 6 meters wide, and paused for a long time at the Eastern European position. After all, this was the closest to his own Northern European base, and the area of Eastern Europe was almost 500 million square kilometers, far exceeding Northern Europe. Of course, this place now belonged to the Soviet Union, but the Soviet Union was now on the decline and was no longer the steel torrent that fought the Cold War with the United States. It would disintegrate in a few years and split into countries. Now is the end of the Soviet Union and the most chaotic period.
Furthermore, northern Eastern Europe, encompassing what is now European Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Belarus, is also located near the Arctic Circle, sharing similar climates and living conditions. Compared to the affluent life of Northern Europe, Eastern Europe under Brezhnev's rule was merely passable. However, the prolonged Cold War and constant targeting by Western developed countries still had a certain impact on the lives of Soviet citizens. Therefore, infiltration into Eastern Europe was easy. Simply put, if the other side had supplies, Northern Europe could easily exchange them for them.
Albelici decided to first arrange for the Inquisition to infiltrate Eastern Europe, focusing on the north and the western region near Northern Europe. They would seek out Asgard agents to search for rare minerals, medicines, and other vital resources. They believed that given Asgard's current status, many ambitious individuals would be eager to cooperate with them and seek their protection. Meanwhile, the Nordic countries would provide them with sufficient supplies and foreign exchange, ensuring that their opponents could not only live comfortably in the Soviet Union but also continue to enjoy a prosperous life abroad, a win-win situation for both sides.
In general, there are numerous benefits to the Asgardians infiltrating Eastern Europe. Forget about the rare minerals and medicines they need. Even if they don't have these, they can still generate considerable profits by smuggling oil and natural gas from the Soviet Union. This will not only benefit the residents of Asgard, but also the five Nordic countries—all three sides will benefit.
You have to understand that the Soviet Union relied primarily on selling oil and natural gas to generate valuable foreign exchange, which was then used to purchase essential goods. Northern Europe, on the other hand, happened to be relatively abundant in these two commodities, exporting significant amounts annually. By smuggling oil and natural gas at low prices and then selling them at market prices, I could profit while also reducing my own production. This was a classic example of "eating well while others are well fed," the best of both worlds.
Following Alberich's orders, the Asgardian Inquisition sprang into action, constantly dispatching personnel back and forth between Asgard and Eastern Europe. Connections were easily established, a mutually beneficial relationship. Even if Soviet leaders learned of this, they could only turn a blind eye to their powerful neighbor, Asgard. After all, their trade was "normal," a top-down, mutually beneficial, mutually beneficial industry.
