Saint Seiya Evil Skull

Chapter 45: The Attention of the Sanctuary

As the reputation of Asgard grew, it also invisibly attracted the attention of the Greek Sanctuary. After all, both were in Europe, not far apart, and belonged to different pantheons. If this happened in the Middle Ages, a holy war could break out at any time, and the kind that would not end until one person died. That is why the Sanctuary looked down on the bitter and cold land of Northern Europe and did not take the Nordic Asgard seriously.

When Gigas, the Chief of Staff of the Greek Sanctuary, hurriedly reported the intelligence he had gathered about Asgard to the new Pope Alex, he caught the attention of Pope Alex, or rather, the Gemini Gold Saint Saga. Saga was indeed quite capable, otherwise he wouldn't have the support of the Gold Saints, such as Deathmask and Aphrodite. Even though they knew Saga was going to fight Athena, they were still willing to follow him.

In his youth, Saga was kind and popular, beloved by the people of the Sanctuary and known as the "Incarnation of God." He possessed both good and evil within him, displaying strong ambition and a ruthless side. Thirteen years prior, Saga usurped the throne of Pope, falsely accusing the Sagittarius Gold Saint Aiolos of treason and the murder of the true Pope, Shion. He also attempted to kill the young Athena, but ultimately failed, resulting in Aiolos's death. Saga subsequently ruled the Sanctuary as Pope for thirteen years.

When Athena was born, Saga's twin brother, Kanon, instigated Saga to murder the young goddess Athena. This awakened Saga's dormant evil, and Saga, enraged, imprisoned Kanon in a water dungeon beneath Cape Srio. Every sunset, he suffered the agony of drowning. From then on, Saga's inner evil began to awaken. However, even then, Saga remained steadfast in his sense of justice.

Why did Saga mercilessly slay the former Pope, Shion? The reason was simple: Shion ultimately decided to pass the throne to Sagittarius Aiolos and appointed Saga as his assistant. This decision, like a sharp sword, pierced the darkness deep within Saga, unleashing the long-dormant evil that had been lurking within him, giving him the upper hand. Thus, on Mount Astrology, Saga mercilessly put Shion to death and subsequently ascended the papal throne, assuming the name "Alex, the younger brother of Shion."

However, fate continued to intensify. Saga's evil grew even more wicked, and he desperately attempted to murder the infant goddess Athena with his golden dagger! Fortunately, Sagittarius Aiolos detected the situation and intervened, thwarting this horrific plot. However, Saga panicked, fearing his true identity would be revealed. Without hesitation, he repelled Aiolos and falsely accused him of plotting to murder young Athena, condemning him as a traitor to the Sanctuary. He then dispatched Capricorn Shura to pursue Aiolos. In a fierce clash with Shura, Aiolos was gravely wounded. With his life in danger, he entrusted Athena to Mitsumasa Kido, who brought her to Japan to raise her and renamed her Kido Saori.

At this point, Saga's primary focus was on finding the missing Athena and the Sagittarius Gold Cloth, paying little attention to other matters. However, even so, he could sense the astonishing rise of the Nordic Asgard, which would sooner or later threaten the Sanctuary's position. However, Saga held the Asgardians in contempt and disdain, believing them to be driven solely by money and devoid of faith.

Saga sat quietly on the Pope's throne, his fingers rhythmically tapping the armrests. The entire Papal Palace was hushed, with only the resonant sound of the tapping echoing. His mask obscured his expression, making it impossible to discern his expression. After a long moment, Saga finally broke his silence and asked Gigas, "Does anyone know the whereabouts of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth?"

Hearing Saga's question, Gigas instantly broke out in a sweat, his body trembling uncontrollably, and he replied in a trembling voice: "Reply...Reply to the Pope, it has not been found yet."

Saga frowned slightly, and his tone became stern: "Send more people to search. The Sagittarius Gold Cloth is of great significance to the Sanctuary. It must be found as soon as possible. Gigas, don't let me down!" After that, Saga stood up, left the throne, turned and walked towards the door.

"Yes, Your Holiness, I will immediately send more manpower and ensure that the lost golden armor is found." Gigas immediately promised.

As they approached the door, Saga added, "I hope you can keep your word! Also, keep an eye on the Nordic Asgard. Don't get into conflict with them for now. To fight foreign enemies, you must first stabilize the country!"

"As you wish, Your Holiness," Gigas replied.

Facing the imminent threat from Asgard, Saga is ultimately more concerned about Athena and the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. Those are his biggest concerns, deadly existences. The rest can wait. He also knows about the strength of Asgard from the classics. Although Asgard is strong, it is still not enough compared with the Sanctuary. The 88 Saints in the Sanctuary alone can kill them. Of course, Saga doesn't know the news of the second-generation God Warriors yet, and he wouldn't care even if he knew. There is no difference between 7 and 15 to him. I believe that after he solves the threat of Athena, he can easily control Asgard. By then, he will make them spit out as much as Asgard has eaten. Let them run rampant for now!

Gigas returned to his Chief of Staff's office and immediately assigned additional personnel to intensify the search for the Gold Cloth. He understood that his position was granted by Pope Alex, and the Pope's sole concern was the whereabouts of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. All other matters were secondary. To maintain his position as Chief of Staff, he had to find the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. Therefore, Gigas no longer paid attention to Nordic Asgard. After all, there was no conflict between the two, and Nordic Asgard avoided accepting missions within the Sanctuary's sphere of influence. The two simply maintained a tacit understanding for the time being.

Athena has now transformed from a naughty girl into an elite trainee, while Seiya, Shiryu, Hyoga, and others have also begun their undercover careers within the Sanctuary. Afterward, they study under the tutelage of Saints scattered throughout the Sanctuary. Some of these elites return after completing their studies and, along with Athena, now in the form of Saori Kido, overthrow the rule of Saga, the Pope of the Sanctuary, ultimately bringing peace to the Kido family.

What about the Sanctuary without Saga and the other Saints? Its strength has been greatly reduced, and everyone wants to bully it. They all use the same tactics: capture Athena and force the Five Saints to rescue her. Athena then takes advantage of the situation, only needing to heal and revive the Five Saints at the critical moment. With just two simple steps, she completes a sweep of the Olympian and Aesir pantheons.

Sometimes, Albelis even wondered if this was Athena's trick, deliberately treating the enemy as weak, then exploiting the opportunity to triumph over the stronger. After all, Athena is known as the goddess of wisdom, war, and art, and her intelligence should be among the highest in the Olympian pantheon. The goddess of art would automatically outsmart her, useless, but since Athena is the goddess of war, it's impossible for her to be completely devoid of offensive power, simply igniting her inner energies, waiting for the Five Guardians to rescue her, and then overthrow her enemy's rule. This could only mean two things: either Athena is incredibly lucky, always turning danger into fortune, or she is a scheming woman, toying with people's hearts.

Alberich, however, leaned towards the latter. He believed Athena was just an ordinary girl, too unlucky to have such a lot of luck. He felt that he had already drawn Saori Kido's blood and used it to strengthen his own Divine Battle Armor. This way, even if they entered into a blood feud, he wouldn't suffer any loss. Alberich thought proudly.

As for what happened next, he could only react as he saw fit. At least in this life, Asgard wouldn't initiate trouble. If Athena took the initiative to cause trouble for Asgard, it would verify Albelici's suspicions. Albelici had even decided that when the plot unfolded, he would personally observe the excitement, like a play, remaining neutral at best.
