Chapter 210 Returning to Beijing
Su Qing accompanied Murong Ye all the way to the entrance of Sujia Village, his eyes fixed on Murong Ye and Ying Yi. They had already mounted their horses, and their horses were paddling uneasily, as if they too could sense the atmosphere of parting.
Murong Ye, dressed in black, stood tall and straight like a pine tree. He turned his head slightly, his eyes filled with a thousand words as he looked at Su Qing. Ying Yi, on the other hand, silently reined in his horse, his face as gloomy as water.
"You must be careful on the road!" Su Qing said!
Murong Ye nodded slightly. "Wait for me." Those two brief words seemed to carry a weight of a thousand pounds. Then, he squeezed the horse's belly, jerked the reins, and the steed charged out like an arrow. Ying Yi followed closely behind, the two horses kicking up a trail of dust.
Su Qing's eyes never left their gaze until their figures turned into two small black dots and disappeared at the end of the winding road outside the village. Then she slowly turned around and walked home.
Su Qing walked back to his yard with slightly heavy steps. As soon as he entered the door, he saw Eunuch Li waiting there in high spirits.
"Grandpa Li, have you rested well?" Su Qing asked softly, trying hard to force a smile on her face.
"Have a good rest! Qingbao, I will return to Beijing to report tomorrow!" Eunuch Li's voice was filled with a hint of reluctance, and he looked at Su Qing lovingly.
"Oh, that's fine! Grandpa Li, I'll prepare some things for you to take back!" Su Qing said!
"Okay, thank you Qingbao! Sorry for your trouble!" Eunuch Li's eyes were full of emotion. He looked at Su Qing's back as he left, his heart full of warmth.
Su Qing hurried back to her room. After confirming that there was no one around, she flashed into the mysterious space that belonged to her alone.
Upon entering the space, the first thing that catches your eye is a soft glow, like a dreamy morning mist, gently permeating every corner. The space resembles a vast circular dome, its ceiling inlaid with countless shimmering gems, like the bright stars in the night sky. They flicker rhythmically, seemingly infusing the space with a constant flow of mysterious energy.
The surrounding walls were constructed of a jade stone that radiated a warm, lustrous hue. Strange patterns etched upon it resembled ancient runes, faintly radiating light and imbued with a mysterious power. Along the walls, rows of exquisite shelves, crafted from a spiritual wood that exuded a faint woody fragrance, were filled with a variety of rare medicinal herbs. Some herbs were encased in crystal-clear jade boxes, sealed with spiritual energy to prevent leakage; others were placed within special spiritual formations, their radiance reflecting the herbs' own spiritual energy.
In the center of the space stood a massive medicine cauldron. Rendered in an ancient bronze, its surface was engraved with intricate alchemy patterns and ancient inscriptions, each one seemingly revealing the secrets of alchemy. Beneath the cauldron lay a unique spiritual fire source. This was no ordinary flame, but a spiritual flame woven from the interweaving of spiritual energies of various attributes. Its color was dreamlike, a primary hue of deep blue interspersed with subtle wisps of gold, purple, and green.
To one side of the space lies a crystal-clear spiritual spring, rippling with water and emitting a rich spiritual energy. Beside the spring is a soft meadow, where several special spiritual plants thrive, nourished by the spring and the spiritual energy of the space. These plants are surrounded by a special protective barrier to prevent them from any harm.
Su Qing felt a little relieved as she looked at the familiar and reassuring space, but soon her heart grew heavy again. She knew these pills were crucial to saving her life at a critical moment. "I must refine higher quality pills," she said silently to herself.
She took a deep breath, quickly calmed herself, and prepared to refine the elixir. Su Qing expertly picked up the medicine cauldron and, with a flick of her sleeve, a faint blue flame ignited beneath it. Her control was perfect, the heat spreading evenly throughout the cauldron. "There can be no mistakes in controlling this flame; every step determines the success or failure of the elixir," she reminded herself.
She began methodically selecting herbs. Each one was imbued with a rich spiritual energy, seemingly alive in her hands. "These herbs are hard-earned. We can't waste them. This refining must succeed." After placing the herbs into the cauldron one by one, Su Qing closed her eyes tightly, concentrating on controlling the intensity of the flame and the input of spiritual energy. Beads of sweat gradually seeped down her forehead, but her expression remained resolute. "Hold on a little longer. The pill will soon take shape. I can't let all my efforts go to waste."
As time went by, a strange aroma emanated from the cauldron, and the pill was gradually taking shape. "Great, it looks like there's hope this time," she said happily.
After meticulous refining, the elixir was finally complete. With a wave of her sleeve, Su Qing's cauldron lid flew up, releasing several round, glossy pills. These pills shimmered with a multicolored light, imbued with powerful energy. Su Qing wiped the sweat from her forehead, a satisfied smile on her face. She knew these pills might prove incredibly useful at a crucial moment, offering valuable healing and boosting skills. She carefully stored the pills and exited the room. Nothing seemed to have happened in the room, save for the confident glint in her eyes that betrayed the accomplishment of something remarkable.
After a busy night, Su Qing refined a lot of pills in the space!
Then he simply washed up and took the prepared package to find Eunuch Li! Eunuch Li had finished breakfast and was about to leave!
"Grandpa Li, take this package. It contains food, drinks, and some life-saving pills! Keep it safe!"
"Okay, thank you Qingbao!"
"Grandpa Li, take care on your journey!"
"Okay, okay! You should also take the time to return to Beijing early to express your gratitude!"
"Yeah, I got it, Grandpa Li!"
In the early morning, Sujia Village was shrouded in a thin layer of mist, like a veil covering the entire village. The old locust tree at the entrance of the village stood quietly there, its branches and leaves swaying gently in the breeze, making a rustling sound, as if whispering the sorrow of parting.
Su Qing stood quietly at the village entrance, her gaze fixed on the receding figure of Eunuch Li. Sunlight struggled to penetrate the mist, casting strands of light across the ground, casting long shadows that echoed her lingering reluctance. Glistening dewdrops hung on the wildflowers by the roadside, shimmering in the sunlight.
Eunuch Li sat in the carriage, turning back and waving at her from time to time. The clattering sound of the carriage over the pebbles was particularly clear in the quiet morning. Su Qing also waved at Eunuch Li until the carriage became a small black dot and disappeared at the end of the road. Su Qing remained standing, the breeze blowing, lifting her hair. Everything around her seemed to be still, only the mist continued to drift slowly.
Su Qing walked home slowly!
When Su Qing returned home, she packed up and took Ying San to the county town to find her third brother Su Wenkang!
The movable type printing factory is still under construction! Su Qing saw Su Wenkang, "Third brother!"
"Little sister, you're here?"
"Yeah! Third brother will show you something!" After Su Qing finished speaking, he handed the paper he made to Su Lao San!
Su Wenkang took the paper from Su Qing's hand out of curiosity, "Sister, where did you get this paper? It's so white and delicate, it feels better than the paper sold in some bookstores!"
"Yes, Third Brother! I made this paper!"
"Little sister, did you do this?" Su Laosan opened his mouth so wide in shock that an egg could fit in it!
"Yes, Third Brother! I have been studying how to make these papers at home these days!" Su Laosan immediately lost his composure!
Su Qing told Su Wenkang about the paper-making process and the cooperation talks with the emperor!
Su Wenkang agreed very much! "Even though we'll earn less this way, we have the Emperor as our backer! We can sell to other countries and increase sales!"
"Yes! So we have to build a paper mill now! It's okay to build it in Sujia Village! It's more convenient to go up the mountain and cut bamboo!"
"Yeah,"
"We still have a lot of empty rooms in our workshop. We can just clean up a few of them! I'll just prepare the tools needed for papermaking!"
"Sure, sister!"
"Once the emperor responds, the paper mill can start operating!"
"Okay, okay! I'll also urge the construction to speed up!"
"Okay, then Third Brother, I'll go back!"
"Yeah, okay! Be safe on the road!"
"alright, I got it!"
