The Little Lucky Girl.

Chapter 170 Flood 4

Su Qing shouted a few times, and the villagers who were hiding from the flood in the caves on the mountain heard the sound, "Village chief, do you hear someone shouting?"

"Huh? I didn't hear that!"

Su Qing picked up a loudspeaker and shouted, "Is anyone on the mountain? We are here to help!"

"Oh, there's a sound! Maybe the imperial court has come to help!"

The village chief of Dahe Village and several strong men from the village were wearing shuttle clothes and heading out of the mountain. When they reached the exit of the mountain, the woman saw the village chief and excitedly called out, "Village chief!"

"Oh, Changsheng's family! Where are your parents-in-law and Changsheng?"

The woman sobbed again, "The flood came so suddenly that we didn't catch up with the villagers. My parents-in-law were washed away, and Changsheng was also washed away! Wuuwuwu... We had to hold onto a tree before the people arranged by the county magistrate came to rescue us!"

"Oh, God! You really don't want us to live! Come up the mountain and meet up with the villagers later!"

"Thank you, village chief!"

Su Qing saw the newcomers and said, "Grandpa, hello to all the uncles and aunts! I'm here to help with the disaster relief work sent by the county magistrate. How's the situation in your village?"

"Hey, little girl, little brother, most of our villagers have evacuated to the mountains! But we're running out of food and water! Many villagers didn't have time to carry their food!"

"Grandpa Village Chief, we'll bring you some food and water later! You'll be responsible for distributing it to everyone! And regarding water, please don't drink raw or dirty water! Make sure to drink boiled water! Along the way, we've seen many poultry and livestock drowned in the water, and even human corpses! The water is contaminated! Drinking it can easily lead to disease!"

So the village chief must have told everyone to do this!"

"OK, thanks!"

"Village Chief, please wait a moment. We'll go get some food!"

"Okay, thank you girl and boy!"

Su Qing and Ying San rowed the boat to a deserted spot and pulled out a few bags of rice, millet, and some instant noodles from their spaceship. Su Qing even carefully covered the rice with oiled paper, along with a few buckets of water. They then rowed the small wooden boat back to where they had been. The village chief and several other strong men were still waiting.

"Grandpa Village Chief, uncles and aunts, please move this grain away, and I also have a few buckets of water!"

"Okay, okay, thank you, young lady, bro!"

"You're welcome, Grandpa Village Chief!"

The villagers of Dahe Village were very happy to receive the food. They could finally hold on for a while longer!

Su Qing left Dahe Village and went to several villages in succession!

Two days later, the heavy rain finally stopped! The sun finally broke through the clouds, shining on the earth that had just been ravaged by the rain!

Everyone in Qing'an County was so happy to see the sun come out that they danced with joy! Next, they waited for the floodwaters to recede and began clearing away the silt, the remains of poultry, livestock, and even human remains! Then, they began disinfection!

Su Qing also explained the need to prevent and control the spread of diseases after the flood and how the villagers' fields should be treated before resuming farming. He also explained that flooded or damaged wells must be cleaned, flushed, and disinfected after repair.

"Dad, this is the plan I wrote for post-flood reconstruction and prevention work! Please take a look at it and give it to Uncle Zhang!"

"Okay, thank you, girl!"

After reading it, Su Zhiyuan was overjoyed and said, "Great, great, you are worthy of being my daughter! Your Uncle Zhang will definitely be able to restore Qing'an County to its pre-flood state quickly with this plan!"

For example, Su Qing wrote: Land flooded by floods cannot be cultivated immediately and needs some time to recover. Generally, it takes a few months at the shortest and two to three years at the longest.

If the flooding lasts for a short time, farming can be resumed after a few months through reasonable measures. If the flooding lasts for a long time, it will take two to three years to resume planting.

Farmland that has been flooded for a long time can deposit organic matter as fertilizer. However, the topsoil and water that were once suitable for cultivation have been washed away by currents, and the resulting silt is cold soil that cannot be cultivated directly without improvement. This improvement of cold soil takes time, so flooded land cannot be reclaimed immediately.

In order to restore the flooded farmland to the state of being able to be cultivated as soon as possible, it is necessary to start from the crop production environment, restore the physical and chemical properties of the farmland soil as soon as possible, and do the corresponding work of clearing debris and disinfection.

It's easy to understand how to remove debris and detoxify. On the one hand, the soil surface should be quickly cleared of debris left on the original farmland by the flood, such as straw, dead grass, household garbage, and bricks. On the other hand, before tilling, the soil surface should be sprayed with quicklime, plant ash, and other substances. After a period of time, deep plowing should be carried out, followed by a surface spray to effectively kill harmful bacteria that remain on the soil surface after the flood.

Restoring the original physical and chemical properties of the soil takes a long time and the process is relatively complicated, but the key is to do a good job of deep drainage, sun drying, soil turnover and appropriate fertilization, so that the soil temperature can gradually recover, the porosity can be normal, the evaporation of water vapor can be accelerated, and the organic matter content and nutrients can be increased.

If farmland is flooded for a short period of time, the soil can recover to the level required for continuous cultivation within a few months. However, if the flooding lasts too long, the soil will take a long time to fully develop. Planting cannot be done that year, and it will take at least two to three years for the new, more fertile soil to recover.

How to deal with flooded land and replant it

Drain and expose

If water remains in flooded fields, drain it first. Dig deep trenches along the ridges, dig more trenches in the ground, and dig drainage holes where drainage is convenient. If there's no water in the area, but the ground is very dirty, sprinkle water once or twice to remove the moisture. After draining, expose the fields to sunlight for at least seven days. If there's no sunlight, it can take two weeks. This disinfects the soil, accelerates evaporation, and allows the land to recover.

2. Clean the dirt

There will also be a lot of debris on the flooded land. If it is not so sticky after being exposed to the sun, it is best to clean it up. It must be cleaned up thoroughly, and nothing should be left on the ground, including weeds, dead branches and leaves.

Sterilize by sprinkling plant ash or quicklime three times

Then use plant ash or quicklime for disinfection and sterilization. Sprinkle it on the ground once, plow the soil deeply and expose it for a few days, and then sprinkle it again to allow the soil layer to recover better. Then, ridge it normally and plant crops on the ridge. In addition, pay attention to the drainage ditches on the edges and between the ridges.

Su Zhiyuan took the post-disaster reconstruction plan and went directly to County Magistrate Zhang. "Brother Zhang, this is the post-disaster reconstruction plan written by my daughter. Take a look! See if I can help you!"

"Brother Zhiyuan, this time it's all thanks to you! Thank you so much!"

"Brother Zhang, this is serious!" County Magistrate Zhang took the post-disaster reconstruction plan and was amazed the more he read it. "Brother Zhiyuan, you really gave birth to a good daughter! This plan is great! It helps me a lot! I was just wondering what to do. I'm sleepy, and you brought me a pillow!" County Magistrate Zhang bowed his hands in gratitude!
