Ye Youlan's daily life of traveling through time

Chapter 22 The Prince Has a Girl He Likes

The competition was about to begin, and Li Chuang asked the Seventh Prince to start shooting arrows and gongs. In the past, it was General Ye who started the competition, but the Seventh Prince had a noble status, so Li Chuang gave General Ye an embarrassed smile.

General Ye didn't care. He signaled the Seventh Prince to start!

The Seventh Prince was dressed in a black brocade robe with green trim on the collar and cuffs, embroidered with bamboo leaves, and looked noble yet cool.

The Seventh Prince came to the archery area, drew his bow and shot an arrow. A black arrow feather passed through the small hole in the middle of the bull's eye and hit the gong in front directly. It fell to the ground with a thud. The gongs and drums sounded, and the competition began.

Everyone applauded and praised the Seventh Prince's archery skills, saying that he was still as powerful as ever.

The Seventh Prince turned around with an indifferent expression. He saw General Ye staring at his feet. He also subconsciously looked down and saw his own footprints on the ground, very clear and distinct.

General Ye raised his head with a smile on his face and said nothing.

The game started. General Ye and the Seventh Prince went to the lounge to drink tea and waited patiently for the results of the game.

The two men exchanged greetings and sat down. General Ye's eyes fell on a purse on the waist of the Seventh Prince. He hadn't noticed it before. It seemed that he had hung it around his waist when he came in. He must cherish it very much!

General Ye smiled and said, "The purse on the Seventh Prince's waist is very unique. Can I borrow it to take a look?"

The Seventh Prince's mouth curled up with a smile. He took it off and handed it to General Ye, then watched General Ye turn it over carefully.

General Ye found that the style of the purse was very simple. It was just a piece of cloth folded in half and sewn together, with a pattern embroidered on it and the purse mouth tied with a rope.

He pointed at the pattern on the purse and asked, "Is this orchid? Why is it tilted?"

The Seventh Prince laughed: "This is not an orchid, it is a symbol, a unique symbol in the world."

General Ye returned the purse to the Seventh Prince. He looked at him curiously and said, "This must have been given by a girl. It seems that the Seventh Prince has a favorite girl. I wonder what kind of girl can make your heart flutter?"

The Seventh Prince chuckled twice: "Gentle, beautiful, smart and versatile."

General Ye nodded, his visibly tense body suddenly relaxing. A strange thought had crossed his mind: could those footprints in the Prime Minister's garden have belonged to the Seventh Prince? The hole in his purse, the size of a needle, was comparable to Ye Youlan's. He almost asked, "Could it be a gift from Ye Youlan?" But when the Seventh Prince said the girl was beautiful, gentle, intelligent, and versatile, he smiled. Youlan was beautiful and intelligent, but gentle wasn't her thing, and versatile was out of the question.

The Seventh Prince took a sip of tea and mentioned that Li Zong was getting married in a few days and he was worried about what gift to give.

General Ye retracted his smile and said, "I don't really understand. My mother is the one who worries about these things."

"I'm sorry, I forgot that I was initially talking about Master Li and your sister, but he ended up marrying Miss Qin."

The Seventh Prince paid attention to General Ye's expression, trying to catch his changes.

General Ye laughed heartily and said bluntly, "Those are just rumors. Li Zong is not worthy of my sister."

"General Ye wants to find a husband for your sister. I know many people and will help you keep an eye out for him."

General Ye thought for a moment and said, "A tall, handsome man, loyal in love, and especially tolerant of my sister, must be at most two years older than my sister. Those who are fickle, hang out in brothels, and have a plethora of female confidantes are not acceptable."

The Seventh Prince was a little embarrassed and almost dropped the teacup in his hand. Could it be that General Ye had discovered something and was deliberately setting up a barrier to reject him?

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.

Li Zhi came in and told the Seventh Prince that something was going on in Jinguifang. General Ye gestured and said with a smile, "The Seventh Prince is really a busy man."

The Seventh Prince blushed, feeling somewhat embarrassed. As he exited the lounge, he glared at Li Zhi, asking, "Can't you find another excuse to leave?" The person sitting inside was Ye Youlan's brother.

Li Zhi said helplessly: "Your Majesty, there really is something going on in Jinguifang."

When General Ye came back from a social event in the evening, he asked his wife to bring him the basket she used for needlework.

"What do you want to see my embroidery basket for?"

The lady took it with a smile. General Ye looked at the pieces of cloth inside and found a piece that looked similar to the fabric of the Seventh Prince's purse.

"Did Youlan embroider something with this cloth?"

The lady thought for a while and said, "My sister-in-law made a purse for Dad, and Dad secretly gave it to me and asked me to modify it." The lady took out the purse from the basket.

General Ye took a look and found that the purse was different from the Seventh Prince's. It was embroidered with orchids, not crooked orchids.

The lady asked him why he asked this suddenly?

General Ye took his wife's hand and said, "I met the Seventh Prince today. I noticed his footprints were the same as the ones in my garden. Also, the stitching on his purse was huge, like something embroidered by Youlan. But the Seventh Prince said the girl he gave him the purse to was gentle, beautiful, smart, and versatile, so I'm a little confused."

"You're just overthinking it. Who is the Seventh Prince? How could you imagine him climbing over the wall to date Youlan? This is too outrageous."

General Ye nodded: "The Seventh Prince is a romantic prince, shouldn't he like a girl like Youlan?"

The eldest sister-in-law was dissatisfied: "What's wrong with Youlan? I think she's very good. If I were a boy, I would like her too. The Seventh Prince is mainly rumored to be extremely romantic, otherwise I think he is a good match for my sister."

General Ye wondered, "Have you met the Seventh Prince?"

"I've seen him. Two years ago, he came back from the battlefield and rode into the city on a tall warhorse. He looked so majestic."

General Ye fell into deep thought. On the one hand, he firmly believed that the footprints belonged to the prince, but on the other hand, he thought that it was impossible for these two people to have any connection. What was going on?

His wife comforted him: "When I have time, I can ask my sister and find out."

General Ye asked his wife to ask his sister when she had time, but not to be too direct so as not to make her angry. That girl could be quite scary when she got angry.

The lady was very scared when she heard this: "Then I'd better not ask. It would be bad if I offend her."

General Ye smiled and said, "Just chat with her casually and ask her what she thinks of the Seventh Prince. I'll try to get some indirect advice from the Seventh Prince when I have time."

General Ye thought that he should not mention this matter to his father for the time being and would wait until he confirmed it himself.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon, and every household is busy. When the prime minister's wife gives instructions at home, she will also let the eldest sister-in-law and Ye Youlan sit aside and listen. After all, they will be the mistresses of the house in the future, and they have to learn these things.

Ye Youlan couldn't help yawning as she listened. Seeing that her sister-in-law was very dignified and listening very seriously, she wanted to slip away quietly, but her mother gave her a stern look, so she had to cheer up and continue listening.

The mother finally finished speaking, and Ye Youlan was called by her sister-in-law to continue learning needlework. Ye Youlan asked her sister-in-law to let her go, as she was really not interested.

The eldest sister-in-law looked at her with her big, watery eyes, aggrieved. "Sister, I don't want to either, but your eldest brother asked me to teach you. He said that what you embroidered was not orchids, but tree branches."

Ye Youlan compromised. She didn't want to make things difficult for her kind and gentle sister-in-law.
