Chapter 148 The Flood is Coming
Zhang Shi took a deep breath, pushed Zhao Feng back into his seat, and then ordered all the soldiers present to stand up and spoke in a firm tone.
"You are not at fault, nor are you guilty. The guilty ones are the outsiders who invaded our territory. I, Zhang Shi, here today to promise you all that one day, I will crush the Brotherhood and the Dragon and Tiger Alliance, and repay today's hatred a hundredfold!"
When the soldiers heard Zhang Shi's words, some of them were so excited that their eyes were red. Zhang Yiling, who was lying in bed receiving treatment, suddenly turned over and shouted.
"I am willing to die for my lord!"
Seeing this, the other soldiers also responded.
"I am willing to die for my lord!"
All of a sudden, regardless of whether they were busy or idle, whether they had experienced battles or not, all the soldiers were aroused and expressed their loyalty to Zhang Shi.
Zhang Shi nodded with satisfaction, calmed the emotions of the soldiers, and thought about how to get the coordinates of the coalition forces so as to launch an attack on them.
Suddenly, another loud thunder sounded in the sky, and the already alarming rain became even heavier. There was a "cracking" sound from the roof of the stone house. Some stone houses even collapsed under the weight, but fortunately there were no casualties.
Zhang Shi quickly walked out of the house and found that the courtyard of the shelter had been completely flooded. The enclosed wall was like a pond. The rainwater had accumulated to a very high level, covering his calves.
"Oh no, it's a flood!"
Ge Dalong exclaimed, and Zhang Shi was still a little puzzled. He was clearly in a plain here, so where did the flood come from? He turned around and saw a huge black flood coming from the direction of the mine, mixed with mud and broken tree branches. It was like a wild horse that had broken free from its reins, rushing down from the direction of the mine with the force of thunder, with a roar like a landslide, swallowing up all living things and natural creations along the way.
The black torrent contained not only mud and broken wood, but also gravel and slag carried by the torrent. They drew deadly arcs in the air, like arrows on a battlefield, mercilessly hitting every inch of land and every building along the way.
Zhang Shi's face instantly became extremely solemn. He realized that the shelter's defensive capabilities were no match for such a large-scale natural disaster. It was time for him to make a decision.
As the flood approached, the soldiers in the shelter were a little panicked. They were life forms generated by the wilderness world system and were more in awe of natural disasters than survivors.
Zhang Shi knew that this sentiment could not be allowed to spread, so he immediately gave orders to organize the soldiers to evacuate to higher ground. However, the speed of the flood was far beyond their imagination, as if an invisible force was pushing it, approaching every minute and every second.
"Quick, get on top of the wall!"
Zhang Shi's voice was faint in the wind and rain, but his resolute eyes were like a beacon, guiding the troops forward. The soldiers sprang into action. However, the force of the flood was beyond imagination. It easily overwhelmed the makeshift embankment, instantly submerging the once sturdy shelter. Stone houses crumbled under the onslaught of the water, while others collapsed, reduced to rubble, mercilessly swept away by the torrent. Amidst the drizzle, the men could only make out each other's blurry silhouettes as they struggled to move forward amidst the ravages of the flood.
The sky was thick with dark clouds, and thunder and lightning flashed, as if even the heavens were wailing over the disaster. Wherever the flood passed, there was devastation. Once vibrant fields became swamps, and majestic fortresses became isolated islands. Life was devastated and the land was filled with grief.
In this battle against the forces of nature, human beings' insignificance and powerlessness are fully exposed.
Seeing his hard work destroyed, Zhang Shi felt extremely bitter, but he was helpless. He could only use the territory control module to put some movable resources and buildings into his backpack to minimize the losses as much as possible.
The rainstorm was still raging and the flood was still hitting the shelter. Ge Dalong came to Zhang Shi and just looked at him without saying a word.
Zhang Shi knew that there was no time to lose and it was time to make his own decision.
"Lao Ge, take out the Ark."
Seeing Zhang Shi had made a decision, Ge Dalong smiled with relief and comforted him.
"As long as there is green mountain, there is no fear of running out of firewood. We have abundant resources at our disposal, and it is only a matter of time before we can make a comeback."
Ge Dalong's words were like a shot in the arm, easing the gloom in Zhang Shi's heart a little. He nodded, his gaze firm, and turned to the soldiers, shouting, "Don't panic, everyone! We've got a plan! Old Ge, get everyone aboard the ark immediately. We must get out of here as soon as possible!"
Ge Dalong sprang into action, directing the soldiers to board the massive, pre-prepared ark in an orderly fashion. The ark was spacious and stable, more than enough to accommodate everyone and their necessary supplies. Under Ge Dalong's command, the soldiers quickly loaded what supplies and equipment they could onto the ark, while also assisting their injured companions.
The giant sunflower was dragged onto the ark by vines and placed its flowers and leaves on the mast. Wu Qing also abandoned some soil and plants that could not be taken away, and even the tree house was abandoned there.
Zhang Shi stood on the deck of the Ark, gazing at the flood-ravaged land before him, a mixture of emotions welling up in his heart. He knew full well that this disaster was not only a devastating blow to the shelter, but also a severe test of the will and faith of all the survivors. He knew that countless survivors would perish in the flood, and even those who survived would face a profound change in their lives. It could be said that this flood was a major reshuffle of the wilderness.
As all the soldiers boarded the ark, Ge Dalong activated its power system. Driven by the floodwaters, the ark slowly moved forward, gradually moving away from the sanctuary once brimming with life and hope. Zhang Shi stood at the bow, his gaze fixed ahead. He knew they had to find a safe place as quickly as possible, and rebuild their shelter once the floodwaters receded.
During the ark's voyage, Zhang Shi constantly monitored the surrounding environment and weather changes through the territory control module. However, the lightning and thunder in the sky never stopped, and the rain grew heavier, from a curtain of rain to a column of water. Zhang Shi felt as if there was an ocean above their heads, bearing the brunt of the rain every moment.
The flood continued to batter the Ark, but the Ark, like a giant sea turtle, steadfastly moved forward amidst the waves. Zhang Shi and his soldiers held their weapons and supplies tightly, knowing that while this disaster had brought them enormous losses, it had also made them more united and stronger.
Night soon fell, and the Ark continued to sail in the vast ocean. The entire wilderness seemed to have instantly transformed into a watery world, with nothing visible except the endless, pitch-black water. The zombie beasts that had attacked the shelter the previous night had vanished without a trace, as if they had foreseen the coming flood and had taken refuge somewhere.
