Mr. Gu's wife is a little naughty

Chapter 4: Locals Asking for Directions from Outsiders

The cars appeared like phantoms, without any warning, standing out in front of them. Hong Momo's heart suddenly rose to her throat, and she subconsciously hugged her bag tightly, as if it was her only support.

"Stay in the car, I'll go down and take a look." Lin Tao's voice was filled with unquestionable determination. He unbuckled his seatbelt and glanced back at Hong Momo, who was curled up in the seat, tightly gripping the stun gun. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, and that mysterious, evil smile appeared again.

Hong Momo's heartbeat intensified, her eyes filled with worry as she watched the situation outside through the car window. Soon, several mysterious figures came into her sight, seemingly communicating with Lin Tao. Among them was a slender female figure. Although the distance made her outline unclear, she still tried hard to make out her.

They seemed to be pointing in their direction, discussing something. Several tall, burly figures briefly glanced over, then without further ado, returned to their cars, started the engine, and drove away. Only the slender female figure remained, conversing with Lin Tao.

Even though those people had left, Hong Momo's nervousness didn't ease. She still stared at the person in front of her, her right hand silently touching the car door lock. In the uncertain situation, she was ready to open the door and flee the scene at any time to ensure her own safety.

The worries in her heart drifted like fallen leaves in autumn. The slender figure, like a ghost in the night, quietly departed. Lin Tao stood there, like a statue, his thoughts drifting away. Only when the headlights of the cars, like shooting stars across the night sky, disappeared into the darkness did he return to the car.

"What are they doing?" Hong Momo's voice trembled slightly, and it was obvious that she had not fully recovered from the shock just now.

Lin Tao glanced at her through the rearview mirror, was silent for a moment, and then slowly said, "Asking for directions."

Hong Momo would never believe it. The way those people were dressed and looked, they didn't look like they were asking for directions. Obviously, they were the real masters of this land. No one would believe you if they asked for directions.

Despite having some doubts in her heart, Hong Momo chose to remain silent. Her gaze turned to the car window again, and those familiar scenes were blurred in the night.

"Aren't you going to ask something?" Lin Tao still looked at her through the rearview mirror.

Hong Momo didn't dare speak, not even to look at him. Her heart was filled with frustration and anger, but she didn't dare to lose her temper. She knew that her silence would keep her safer. In this unknown world, all she could do was stay as quiet as possible. Returning safely to her own world was what she wanted most right now.

Lin Tao lightly pressed the window-down button, and the window slowly dropped. He simultaneously lit the cigarette dangling from his lips. Amidst the cloud of smoke, he suddenly paused, his head turning slightly, his gaze piercing the outline of Hong Momo in the back seat. "Aren't you curious about those people just now, or—" His voice paused briefly, as if waiting for something, or as if deliberately emphasizing the next words. Lin Tao exhaled the smoke and deepened his tone: "Or me!"

Hong Momo's body involuntarily curled up slightly, her eyes shrouded in complex emotions. Though deep within her, curiosity gnawed at her like a dormant snake, she was equally baffled as to why, under such circumstances, a man would suddenly reveal such cryptic and incomprehensible information to her. Her heart began to beat uncontrollably, a premonition that something was about to go awry, a feeling of indescribable fear.

Lin Tao laughed softly, a subtle and eerie laugh, like a whisper from the abyss of another world. Hong Momo felt layers of cold sweat on her back, as if she were enveloped by an invisible chill.

"Why...why...why don't we leave yet?" Hong Momo's voice trembled. She didn't know why she asked such a question, but deep in her heart, she suddenly longed to return to that safe home and would rather never step out of the house again in her life.

"I'm tired, let's take a rest." Lin Tao turned around and took a deep breath of the cigarette in his mouth. The remaining smoke was like a meteor that streaked through the darkness in front of him and dissipated in another inky night sky.

"Didn't we just rest just now?" Hong Momo's voice was filled with tears, as if she would burst into tears in the next moment.

The man in front of her shook his shoulders violently. Was he laughing? Hong Momo tilted her head slightly and cast her gaze towards the man in front of her.

Suddenly, the man turned his head. Hong Momo in the back seat was so scared that she almost jumped up, her body hit her back heavily, and her terrified eyes were fixed on Lin Tao's face.

The man's mouth showed an evil smile again. Although he was wearing large sunglasses, one could still feel his malicious gaze.

"You~"

"It's raining heavily ahead and the road has been washed away. Those people just now came to inform us not to go over there." Lin Tao suddenly spoke, interrupting Hong Momo.

"So~"

"So, we can only spend the night here. The last girl who left just now is the girl who spoke to me on WeChat. She has gone to the front to find a solution." Lin Tao smiled and shook his head, as if he thought it was quite fun to scare the girl behind him.

"Oh." Hong Momo was still uneasy, her eyes still full of fear, staring at Lin Tao's back.

"Don't worry, I'm not interested in you. I promised you to leave here safely, and I will definitely do it. You can rest assured."
