Mr. Gu's wife is a little naughty
Chapter 33 Tian Tian's Past
The rain, like a dam bursting, poured down relentlessly, weaving an impenetrable gray curtain that tightly enveloped the entire world. Beneath the night sky, flashes of lightning ripped through the darkness like sharp swords, momentarily illuminating the silent earth, only to return to a deeper paleness in an instant, adding an indescribable sense of terror and ominousness to the scene.
In this vast villa, standing alone in the wind and rain, darkness weighed like a solid mass, swallowing up all light and warmth. Fourteen-year-old Lin Tao, his frail body huddled in the dark corner of the staircase, like a helpless boat in a storm. His eyes gleamed with a determination and fear that belied his age. His gaze, piercing the surrounding darkness, fixed its gaze on the figures surrounding Lin Haitao.
Lin Haitao, the once high-spirited and radiant man, now lay on the cold ground, bloodstained. Every weak breath was accompanied by a painful groan, as if the flame of life was being extinguished bit by bit by the relentless wind and rain. Those who surrounded him had twisted faces, their eyes devoid of sympathy or pity, only indifference and determination, as if conducting a silent judgment, revealing the dark side of human nature.
The air was filled with a thick smell of blood and despair. Every gasp and every roar of lightning in the villa silently told the tragedy and injustice of this storm.
At the gate, in the split second of lightning illuminating the room, Lin Tao saw a scene he would never forget: his mother, Yao Lina, that gentle face now shrouded in an indescribable coldness. He was tightly held by his second uncle, Lin Dawei, hand in hand, while his younger sister, Lin Xueyi, who was still naive about the world, was tightly embraced in his arms. The three of them silently stepped out of the house.
At that moment, Lin Tao's heart felt as if a massive rock weighed down his chest. Fear and confusion woven into an impenetrable web, binding him tightly. He didn't cry or struggle, but instinctively curled himself up tighter. He obeyed his father's instructions, biting his arm tightly, using the physical pain to distract from the fear in his heart, not letting even the slightest sound escape.
He had no idea where this group of strangers came from; he had never seen them before. As far as he could remember, his father had never had any contact with them. Before he fainted, Lin Tao only vaguely caught a glimpse of one of their faces: a chubby one with a smug grin—Tian Zhenyuan.
Lin Tao clearly remembered that Tian Zhenyuan seemed to glance at the place where he was hiding, but for some reason, he did not reveal himself. He just left a complicated expression, then led a man who looked like a leader and dragged his father, who had already lost consciousness, out of the room.
Another dull rumble of thunder boomed from the horizon, like the roar of an ancient beast, piercing Lin Tao's fragile nerves. At that moment, he felt as if gripped by an invisible hand of fear. Whether it was a trembling of sheer terror or a trembling deep within his soul, it was hard to tell. In short, after that deafening roar, his world returned to chaos, and his consciousness quietly sank into endless darkness.
From then on, Lin Tao's spiritual world collapsed. He began to fear the dark, lightning, thunder, and even more so, being watched by many people.
When Lin Tao slowly opened his eyes again, the scenery around him had changed. A soft, unfamiliar light shone into the simple yet cozy orphanage room. The air was filled with the faint smell of disinfectant and a subtle sweet fragrance. It was the smell of childhood, strange yet familiar.
Beside the bed stood a little girl, about ten years old. Two shiny black ponytails draped gently over her shoulders, swaying as she turned, adding a touch of agility and playfulness to her. Her eyes gleamed with a maturity and calmness beyond her years. Seeing Lin Tao awaken, the corners of her mouth curled up slightly, and she spoke simply and forcefully, "You're awake." Her tone was neither cold nor enthusiastic, but rather possessed of a childlike coolness that was uniquely hers.
"I'm the big sister here. You'll just follow me from now on. Don't worry, I'll definitely protect you." The girl's words were filled with unquestionable strength, and her eyes flashed with determination and tenderness.
During the next six months at the orphanage, Lin Tao truly felt the weight of this promise. This self-proclaimed "Big Sister" girl, in her own unique way, provided Lin Tao with a clear sky. Her presence became the warmest haven in his heart, deterring any cold winds and bullying that tried to approach.
It was not until half a year later when his adoptive father came to pick him up that Lin Tao learned the girl's name - Tian Mengmeng.
Lin Tao didn't hear anything Liu Liu said afterwards. He seemed to be immersed in his own memories.
Noticing Lin Tao's distraction, a hint of understanding and tacit understanding flashed in Liu Liu's eyes. He wisely chose to remain silent, and the office fell into silence for a short time.
Time seemed to freeze at this moment, until Lin Tao's voice, with a barely perceptible tremor, broke the silence: "Besides this, are there... any other clues?"
"Three years ago, she went to Siam, entered the jungle for a while, and then returned home secretly. Since then, we have been subjected to crazy attacks by the Red Scorpion." Liu Liu continued.
Upon hearing this, Lin Tao spun around abruptly, his gaze fixed on Liu Liu with disbelief, his tone tinged with astonishment, "You're saying you suspect she's involved with the Red Scorpion?"
Liu Liu remained silent, but his deep eyes were filled with suspicion, as if he had silently confirmed Lin Tao's speculation - he was indeed questioning Tian Tian.
Lin Tao thought about it carefully. He had offended the Red Scorpion three years ago when he accidentally bullied a girl in the rainforest. But if someone said that the girl was Tian Tian, he would never believe it even if he was beaten to death.
But all this seems too coincidental. Could it be true that Tian Tian is a member of the Red Scorpion as Liu Liu said?
"Maybe this is just a coincidence, but it's too much of a coincidence." A trace of deep thought gathered between Liu Liu's brows, and his eyes flickered slightly in thought.
"Dong Dong Dong~"
There was a steady knock on the door, and Lin Tao's eyes tensed instantly. He glanced at the door that was about to open, the tension in his hands almost palpable. Seeing this, Liu Liu quickly and tacitly handed the sunglasses on the table to Lin Tao. Lin Tao quickly put them on and stood by the window again, his back to the door.
"Mr. Gu, may I come in?"
Tian Tian's gentle and slightly tentative voice came from outside the door. Liu Liu looked at Lin Tao's back. Lin Tao nodded, and Liu Liu opened the door with confidence.
"Assistant Liu, am I... disturbing you?" Tian Tian whispered softly, with a hint of uneasiness in her eyes, and glanced secretly at the tall and slightly lonely figure by the window - Lin Tao.
Liu Liu's heart was moved when he heard this, and he almost blurted out "sister-in-law". He coughed lightly and quickly adjusted his tone and said, "No, Assistant Tian, Mr. Lin's affairs have been arranged. You have come at the right time. Please come in."
Tian Tian felt relieved upon hearing this, and a faint smile unconsciously curled up at the corner of her mouth. She slowly walked into the room, her hands lightly folded behind her back, her steps carrying a touch of the lightness and caution that only a young girl can have. She stole another glance at Lin Tao and asked in a more delicate voice, "Mr. Gu, is there anything else I can do for you?"
Lin Tao took a deep breath, slowly calming his turbulent emotions. Finally, he gently turned around, his gaze falling on Tian Tian with a gentle yet complex expression. At that moment, his heart seemed to be gently covered by a delicate veil. He longed to uncover the secrets of the past, but was also afraid that those innocent memories would be stained by the dust of reality.
"From now on, you can just report to me when you go to work. You don't need to do anything outside." There was an imperceptible tremor in Lin Tao's voice, but he tried his best to maintain his usual composure.
Tian Tian's eyes swiveled around a few times as she heard that, a playful smile forming on her lips. "Are you saying I'll be working here from now on?"
She tapped her fingertips and gently pointed towards Lin Tao's spacious and bright office, her voice filled with confirmation and expectation.
Lin Tao nodded gently, with a subtle tenderness in his steps. He slowly walked to the table, touched it with his fingertips, and finally gently picked up the pink rabbit-shaped thermos cup. "Also, I really like this cup you gave me."
"Huh?" Tian Tian's eyes flickered with confusion upon hearing this. Then, her gaze flickered between Lin Tao and Liu Liu, as if searching for clues behind their words. It was then that Liu Liu noticed the adorable mug on Lin Tao's desk, clearly Tian Tian's creation. But seeing Lin Tao, a man of steel, so naturally holding this adorable mug, the contrast made Liu Liu burst into laughter. His lips curled up unconsciously, yet he fought to suppress the smile, fearing it would disrupt the warm yet slightly awkward atmosphere.
