Quick Wear: Love still depends on two love brains
Chapter 377: The Useless Lady vs. the Federal General 30
At this moment, a sinister gaze pierced over.
The man stood in the shadows, quietly holding an energy bomb in his hand, with resentment and resentment swirling in his eyes.
After the celebration, Quan Jiuxi was about to go back when he heard hurried footsteps behind him.
Zhao Feng's face was hidden in the shadows, and the energy bomb in his hand glowed with a cold blue light, like the eyes of a poisonous snake.
"You've ruined my promotion and my future in the Zhao family!"
There was a cry in his roar as he pounced forward.
It’s over.
It's all over.
He had promised his family for several months that he would definitely get first place.
But now he was defeated by the loser Quan Jiuxi.
Quan Jiuxi looked at him expressionlessly, and the moment he dodged to the side, his fingertips precisely grasped the nerve nodes on the inside of his wrist.
Zhao Feng's scream was stuck in his throat as the energy bomb slammed to the ground and rolled to Quan Jiuxi's feet.
She didn't look at the still flashing bomb, and her other hand had already pulled out the short blade from her boot - the sharp edge hidden under the lace skirt.
"Looking for death." As the short blade cut through the air, Quan Jiuxi's voice was so light it sounded like a sigh, "Idiot."
After the dull thud of the blade piercing his heart, Zhao Feng's body fell limply.
When Quan Jiuxi pulled out the short blade, her fingertips accidentally rubbed against the warm blood beads. The sticky touch made her frown subconsciously, and she raised her hand to touch the silk handkerchief in her handbag.
Suddenly, at the entrance of the passage, there was a very light sound of fabric rubbing against each other, like butterfly wings skimming across silk.
Pei Jin stood there. The draft lifted a corner of his black windbreaker, revealing the silver-gray collar of his shirt underneath. The obsidian cufflinks on the collar shone coolly in the dim light.
He was not wearing combat uniform, and had obviously just come out of the celebration.
He stood straight as a pine tree, his fingertips casually resting on the edge of his windbreaker pocket, his knuckles distinct and his nails neatly trimmed.
The man's eyes never fell on the corpse on the ground, as if it was just a piece of unsightly garbage.
His gaze fell heavily on Quan Jiuxi's blood-stained fingertips. The scarlet color spread across her jade-white fingertips, like a dark poppy suddenly blooming in the snow, revealing a breathtaking beauty.
"It's dirty." He spoke, his voice colder than the wind in the corridor, but with an unquestionable certainty, and walked towards her with long legs.
Quan Jiuxi raised his eyebrows and was about to speak when his wrist was gently grasped by him.
His palm was slightly cool, and the thin calluses on his fingertips brushed against her skin, causing a slight shudder. "Pei Jin, I—"
"Don't move." He interrupted her, and with his other hand he took out a neatly folded white handkerchief from the inner pocket of his windbreaker. The edge of the handkerchief was embroidered with tiny silver lines. It was the kind he usually used.
He lowered his head, his movements focused as if he was handling a precision instrument, and carefully wiped the blood from her fingertips with the corner of his handkerchief, the force so light that it hardly felt like a touch.
"This kind of thing should be done by me." He raised his eyes, his eyelashes casting a light shadow under his eyes, and there was a dark tide in his eyes that she couldn't read. "You are clumsy and it's easy to mess it up."
Quan Jiuxi was choked by what he said and was about to refute when he saw him wipe his hands and casually throw the blood-stained handkerchief on Zhao Feng's body, as if throwing away something insignificant.
Then, he took out a small metal ball from his pocket and threw it next to the corpse in a snap of his fingers. The metal ball disappeared into the shadows as it landed on the ground, making only an almost inaudible buzzing sound.
"In three minutes, there will only be a few ashes left here." He straightened her slightly messy cuffs, his fingertips carelessly brushing across her wrist. "Let's go! The celebration of your first place isn't over yet. We can't keep them waiting."
Quan Jiuxi looked at his calm profile and suddenly smiled: "General Pei, are you so well prepared for the banquet?"
"When you go out, you must protect yourself." He turned his head, his eyes fell on her lips, lingering for half a second before moving away. His tone was calm but with a hidden burning feeling, "After all, you are my people. If you get your hands dirty, someone has to take care of you. If you cause trouble, someone has to clean it up."
The coolness of his palm still lingered on Quan Jiuxi's fingertips. Hearing this, she suddenly leaned forward half a step. The wind in the passage carried the fragrance of her hair, mixed with the crisp cedar scent of his body, weaving an invisible net in the dim light.
"Your people?" She raised her eyes, her eyelashes brushing against his jawline, and her voice was filled with a hint of deliberate teasing. "When did General Pei put me in your territory?"
Pei Jin's Adam's apple rolled slightly, and he raised his hand to brush away a strand of hair from her shoulder.
His fingertips stopped at the side of her neck and didn't move. "Since the day I decided to protect you."
Quan Jiuxi was stunned.
"Let's go." He didn't say anything more, but just naturally took her hand, and clasped her fingers with his fingertips. The force was not strong but she couldn't break free.
As the two walked out side by side, a very slight explosion was heard from deep in the passage, as if something was turning to ashes in the flames.
The celebration music was still playing in the distance. Pei Jin suddenly stopped, turned around and straightened her slightly messy temples.
"There's something on your face," he said, rubbing his fingertips across her cheekbone with a deliberately slow and gentle touch.
Quan Jiuxi looked up at him. The man's outline was particularly clear under the light of the banquet hall in the distance. His brows were sharp, but there was an unshakable gloom in his eyes.
"Pei Jin," she suddenly said, "Did you know Zhao Feng was coming?"
He didn't deny it, but just lowered his head, his nose almost touching her forehead. "He's been staring at you for days." His voice was very low, as if he was telling a secret. "How could I let him have the chance to dirty your eyes?"
The noise in the distance was getting closer and closer. Quan Jiuxi looked at the two people's clasped hands, and suddenly felt that the blood on his fingertips just now seemed to have been soothed by the warmth of his palm, turning into an indescribable warmth in his heart.
......
The crystal chandeliers in the banquet hall reflected brilliant light, and the elegantly dressed figures cast swaying shadows on the smooth marble floor.
Quan Jiuxi had just been handed a glass of champagne by Pei Jin, and the coolness of the glass had not yet penetrated his fingertips when he was surrounded by several well-dressed members of the Quan family.
The second aunt who was in the lead was wearing a lilac cheongsam with a pigeon-blood ruby pinned to her collar. When she smiled, the fine lines at the corners of her eyes showed her shrewdness.
"Xiao Xi," Second Aunt patted her arm, her eyes glancing behind her like hooks, "Just now I saw you and General Pei coming in one after the other, your steps were in sync. What are you two doing..."
The ending tone is long, with an unspoken inquiry.
Quan Jiuxi was just about to make an excuse of "coincidentally meeting" when his wrist was suddenly pressed down by a slightly cool force.
Pei Jin had stood beside her without her knowing when. The hem of his black windbreaker still carried the chill of the night dew. His palm was pressed against the most sensitive part of the inside of her wrist. His fingertips were covered with thin calluses, and he gently stroked her skin, as if to comfort her, or as if to declare some kind of secret sovereignty.
He spoke first, his tone as calm as if he was discussing the weather, but his eyes casually swept across Quan Jiuxi's profile.
"I just ran into Jiuxi in the corridor. She said the banquet hall was too stuffy and I just wanted to go with her to get some fresh air."
Although his words were watertight, the way he slightly leaned to the side to protect Quan Jiuxi behind him, and the hand that seemed to be casually placed on her wrist but refused to let go, any discerning person could see that he was protecting her.
The Second Aunt of the Quan Family has lived for most of her life, what kind of scenes has she not seen? She immediately smiled more meaningfully, her eyes flickering to the two people's clasped wrists, and then quickly retracted them.
"Okay, okay, okay," she said three times in a row, twirling the handkerchief around her fingertips. "Let some air in, let some air in. Young people should talk more and get closer to each other."
The "I understand" in his eyes almost overflowed, "You guys chat, you guys chat, we won't disturb you."
She left and walked towards Tang Wan, winking at Quan Jiuxi.
After the people walked away, Quan Jiuxi raised his eyebrows and turned his head to look at the man beside him.
The light from the crystal chandelier fell on his sharply defined profile, stretching the shadows of his eyelashes. His eyes, always as still as a deep pool, now held a subtle smile. "General Pei is quite the man who lies with his eyes open."
Pei Jin's fingertips were still lingering on her wrist bone. Hearing this, he chuckled softly. The laughter sounded like the low hum of a cello, making her eardrums numb slightly.
"It's better than them asking all the time, isn't it?" He leaned forward slightly, and the distance between them instantly shortened. The crisp cedar scent on his body mixed with the sweet smell of champagne, weaving an ambiguous web in the air.
"The elders of the Quan family have imaginations that are more powerful than a starship's navigation system."
Quan Jiuxi curled his lips in amusement, but soon stopped smiling and looked up at him.
Her eyes were bright, as if quenched by starlight. "But why do I feel like you did this on purpose?"
He deliberately waited for her in the corridor, deliberately acted like this in front of the elders, and deliberately spoke in such an unpredictable tone.
Pei Jin saw the cunning in her eyes and instead of avoiding it, he tightened his grip on her wrist, his fingertips almost digging into her delicate skin. "Oh?"
He raised an eyebrow, his tone a little playful, "That's probably because our Miss Quan acquiesced."
