Rebirth and making money first

Chapter 49 I Don’t Sell Insurance

Seeing it was still early, Zhang Jing decided to go shopping. Dongmen was still as busy and bustling as ever, with shops constantly undergoing renovations. She strolled around slowly, buying a few pieces of clothing. Unfortunately, Zhang Jing wasn't good at bargaining, and she couldn't help but miss her colleague Miaomiao.

Miaomiao and Zhang Jing are from the same hometown. Miaomiao is beautiful. She loves shopping and never tires of it. She loves dragging Zhang Jing along on her clothes shopping trips and loves trying on new clothes right away, including Zhang Jing's own. Zhang Jing's habit of leaving her clothes for days without even trying them on perplexes Miaomiao, and Zhang Jing herself doesn't understand. Now Miaomiao has gone home, and it's unclear when she'll return.

Zhang Jing hadn't had much desire to buy anything to begin with, and now she was even less interested, so she decided to buy some fruit and visit Wang Ping's rented home. Upon arrival, Wang Ping and his wife warmly welcomed her.

"Hey, Zhang Jing, you're here!" Ah Xiang said with a smile, then turned and went into the kitchen, getting busy. Soon, she brought out a plate of delicious shrimp and a few crabs, chopped in half, ready to stir-fry. Seeing this, Zhang Jing was a little surprised, but also very touched.

"You are so polite. Why do you cook seafood specially for me?" Zhang Jing said gratefully.

"Don't say that, we are all friends. Let's rest at home and improve our meals together." Ah Xiang replied with a smile.

Zhang Jing sat on the sofa, her eyes fixed on Wang Ping's busy figure, a wave of emotion welling up in her heart. She recalled the days when she and Miaomiao went shopping together, full of energy and eagerly anticipating every new piece of clothing. However, over time, Miaomiao had left the city and returned to her hometown. Now, Zhang Jing was left alone to face the trivialities of life.

As old friends drifted away and new colleagues filled the void at work, Zhang Jing still often missed the good old days and the good times she had spent with her friends.

Zhang Jing sighed silently. She knew she couldn't dwell on the past forever. She needed to learn to be independent and enjoy her time alone. So, she decided to go out more often, try new things, and make her life more colorful.

Wang Ping and Zhang Jing sat at the table, waiting for their food to arrive, and they chatted. As expected, Wang Ping's constant topic was insurance. It turned out he had become an insurance manager. Ah Xiang, on the other hand, worked as a clerk at an insurance company, specifically entering customer data. Ah Xiang explained that this was just a temporary job, and that she would make further plans once Wang Ping became more established.

Zhang Jing couldn't help but admire Ah Xiang. She remained loyal to Wang Ping, never abandoning him. Was this what it meant to share joys and sorrows? Zhang Jing reflected, wondering if she could have matched that kind of perseverance. Whenever faced with danger, she always chose to abandon others to save herself. Perhaps it was this self-protective mentality that had kept her single for so many years. She never trusted anyone, and this undoubtedly created a vicious cycle.

Wang Ping smiled and said, "Sister Fu, how about buying some insurance? Help me complete my performance review, otherwise I won't even get my base salary." Zhang Jing replied helplessly, "I'm so broke I'm practically peeing blood, how can I afford insurance?" Wang Ping smiled nonchalantly and said, "If you really don't have any money, I can lend it to you!" Zhang Jing stared at him with wide eyes, "Do you still have money to lend me?"

Wang Ping patted his chest and said, "Don't underestimate you, brother. I work very hard. Others may not dare to lend money, but I definitely will lend you money, Zhang Jing. Because you keep your word and will never default on your debt!"

Seeing Zhang Jing's hesitation, Wang Ping continued, "Hu Shi once said that the meaning of insurance is: prepare for old age when you are young, prepare for illness when you are healthy, and prepare for death when you are alive." He hoped that Zhang Jing could take a longer-term view. After all, when you are away from home, you should think more about your family.

Zhang Jing had purchased numerous insurance policies in her previous life and clearly remembered that insurance prices would rise significantly in the future. She thought she could snag a great deal by getting on board early, so she asked Wang Ping for a detailed introduction. As expected, Wang Ping, like in her previous life, inquired about Zhang Jing's income, but Zhang Jing naturally refused to tell the truth.

Wang Ping then pressed Zhang Jing on how much savings she had. Zhang Jing claimed she had sent all her money back to her mother and had no savings of her own. Wang Ping was stunned, and Ah Xiang also looked incredulous. After confirming that Zhang Jing was not lying, Wang Ping and his wife began to criticize her, "How could you have saved so little money over all these years? What if you got sick or needed money urgently?"

Zhang Jing knew she had suffered similar hardships in her past life, so she decided not to repeat the same mistake this time. She had learned her lesson. "It's too late for me to regret now," Wang Ping said. "It's not too late. You're running around naked now, with no protection at all. That's why you should buy insurance."

Zhang Jing said she wanted a multi-functional insurance policy that would cover both accidents and illnesses, preferably with dividends and a return upon maturity. She also wanted one with a long payment period and a low premium.

After selecting the insurance, Wang Ping lamented that there weren't any plans with so many features. He suggested Zhang Jing settle for the next best option, but Zhang Jing said she'd buy the accident and critical illness insurance first. Wang Ping was delighted. Knowing that Zhang Jing planned to buy next month, he immediately offered to lend her the money, saying, "Buy it sooner, and you'll have peace of mind. It won't cost you a month."

Wang Ping took out a contract from the desk drawer and placed it in front of Zhang Jing. Zhang Jing then realized that there were a lot of client information in Wang Ping's room. Wang Ping took out all these client information and used them as templates to fill out the contract.

Under Wang Ping's patient guidance, Zhang Jing finally completed the contract. The insurance policy required an annual payment of 1280 yuan. Wang Ping smiled and assured Zhang Jing not to worry about the cost, as the first year's premium would be collected by the salesperson. As a salesperson, he had already decided to advance the payment for Zhang Jing. Premiums for the second year and beyond would be automatically deducted through the bank.

Hearing this, Zhang Jing couldn't help but sigh: No wonder in her past life, she often heard reports of salespeople absconding with funds. This payment method was truly flawed. But since Wang Ping was so generous as to lend her the money, Zhang Jing naturally wouldn't refuse. She promised to return the money after next month's paycheck. Wang Ping, however, waved his hand, saying there was no need to rush, and that he didn't even need to write an IOU. He had great faith in Zhang Jing's character and was confident she would keep her promise.

However, when Wang Ping saw that the beneficiary's name was left blank, he offered a suggestion: "Zhang Jing, who do you think should be listed as the beneficiary? Or maybe just write it as the legal person? We can change it later."

Zhang Jing shook her head, determined to write her mother's name. She explained, "On the road to the underworld, no one is young or old, and no one can predict life or death. If something unfortunate happens, at least my mother will have some financial comfort."

Wang Ping was overwhelmed with admiration after hearing this. He said with emotion, "You are truly filial! By comparison, I feel inferior because I am more selfish than you."

At the dinner table, everyone happily chatted while eating. Zhang Jing looked at Ah Xiang and her husband and said with a smile, "You've been married for quite some time, it's time to have a baby." Ah Xiang laughed back and said, "Yes, we're planning on having one too." Then, she urged Zhang Jing, "Don't be so picky, find someone to marry now. That's the real thing."

Zhang Jing's smile faltered when she heard this, and she quickly changed the subject. She turned to Wang Ping and asked, "Wang Ping, I want to ask you, what do you do if a customer refuses your insurance sales pitch?" Wang Ping replied, "You need to be thick-skinned. It's like if a customer pushes you out the door, you have to climb in through the window!" He finished with a smug smile.

Zhang Jing was completely speechless, thinking: We had agreed to just get together as old colleagues and have a meal. And he hadn't even started selling insurance, yet now he'd already bought one before even starting dinner. Even more ridiculous, Wang Ping had actually lent her money to buy the insurance. In a city like Shenzhen, who doesn't know how hard it is to borrow money? Zhang Jing was instantly moved, feeling that Wang Ping was truly considerate.

In the end, Zhang Jing had to admit that her emotional intelligence was really worrying, but she still hoped that her IQ could always be online.
