Rebirth and making money first

Chapter 10: Stock Market Movement

Zhang Jing finished her delicious lunch and took a short nap. Just as she was drifting off to sleep, the sudden ring of the phone jolted her awake. She groggily picked up the phone and saw it was her cousin's sister. She'd worked with her before, and she always acted like a superior.

This woman, who had never married and whose relatives described her as a spinster, called Zhang Jing to criticize her for quitting her job. When questioned, Zhang Jing replied truthfully, "This job is too hard. I just want to take a break."

However, Aunt Juan was clearly dissatisfied with Zhang Jing's explanation. She criticized her for not being able to endure hardships and said, "Why don't you ask around? Is there anyone who finds it easy working away from home? I've never seen anyone as spoiled as you! Your uncle and the others told me that the boss originally wanted to promote you, but why are you so impatient?" Her tone was full of disappointment.

Hearing this, Zhang Jing felt helpless. She understood that this so-called elder didn't truly understand her feelings and decision. While the other party might have had good intentions, the accusation left Zhang Jing feeling unhappy. After all, everyone has different expectations for life and work, and her decision to resign was a carefully considered one.

Zhang Jing wasn't happy either. Her work was incredibly stressful. But no one understood. What promotion? She'd been at the job for eight years, and yet no one had given her a promotion. And now, after she resigned, they were saying she'd get one. Wasn't that like trying to appease a three-year-old? After hanging up, Zhang Jing grew increasingly angry. She simply skipped sleep and went online again. She wrote down a few of the bizarre stories she'd come up with, revising them. Almost three hours had already passed, and she hurried to finish. This time, she'd written three more stories: one over 8 words, the other two at 3 and a little over words each.

Zhang Jing felt that maintaining the status quo wouldn't work. It seemed she'd have to create a daily writing plan. Typing using the Pinyin input method wasn't easy, after all. If she wanted to achieve rapid profitability, she needed to employ multiple methods simultaneously. At that moment, Zhang Jing deeply missed the voice-activated mouse she had in her previous life.

Just then, another call came in. Zhang Jing hurried to finish her work, but by the time she was done, the phone had stopped ringing. She left the internet cafe and pulled out her phone to check. The caller was none other than Uncle Zhang, whom she'd met at the stock exchange. Zhang Jing guessed it must be good news about the stocks she held, but she hadn't had time to pay attention. It had been almost a month since she'd last checked.

So, she immediately called Uncle Zhang: "Uncle Zhang, it's been a long time since we last met! I was busy just now. What do you want to talk to me about? How have you been lately?" Uncle Zhang said, "Jing, you haven't been to the stock exchange for a long time. I wanted to ask if you have sold the stocks you bought last time? If not, don't sell them. The price has risen sharply! How much did you buy?"

Zhang Jing said, "Uncle Zhang, I haven't looked at the stock market yet. I forgot about it a long time ago. I've been too busy looking for a job recently, and I don't have time to go to the securities company for the time being. Tell me about the stock market, how is it lately?" "Xiao Jing, you look at how hard you work every day. You are so busy that you have no free time. Why don't you just quit your current job? It just so happens that I have an easier job here, but the salary is a little lower. Would you like to consider it?" When Zhang Jing heard Uncle Zhang say this, she asked curiously what kind of job it was.

Uncle Zhang told her that it was a formal welfare institution under the jurisdiction of the Civil Affairs Bureau! Its existence was of great significance, specifically accepting people with disabilities or intellectual disabilities. Its purpose was to help these people learn practical skills and better adapt to social life. The daily work was actually quite simple: simply record the daily check-in information of those who came in and provide them with a monthly living allowance of 300 yuan.

One of the main reasons Uncle Zhang strongly recommended this job to Zhang Jing was that his daughter-in-law happened to be a teacher there. This welfare institution not only provided comfortable accommodations and delicious meals, but also a generous monthly salary of 2,700 yuan! Even more noteworthy, they also provided social security and medical insurance for their employees. Employees only had to work eight hours a day, and they could enjoy a relaxing weekend every Saturday and Sunday.

However, if Zhang Jing decided to take the job, she would likely only be responsible for auxiliary work, assisting the teachers, and handling chores like cleaning. Many people refused to go, citing the low salary. Uncle Zhang suggested that Zhang Jing go, explaining that she had limited education and was already 30 years old. Finding a job would be difficult, but with patience and a heart, she could find a job. While the salary wasn't high, the benefits were good. He asked Zhang Jing to consider it, and she said she would go to the securities company in a few days to discuss it with Uncle Zhang.

After hanging up the phone and seeing that it was almost time for her meeting with Aaron, Zhang Jing headed towards the China World Trade Center. She deliberately walked past the sales office where she'd worked and went in to chat with a colleague. She asked a colleague to show her the stock calculator, and they jokingly asked if she was also trading stocks. Zhang Jing said she was observing and hadn't entered the market yet.

When she opened the search for her purchase, she discovered the price had gone up to over 11 yuan! Zhang Jing tried to remain calm, mentally calculating how much she had. When her colleague called her, she realized a customer had requested to see the stock machine, so she quickly handed it back to her colleague. The colleague asked Zhang Jing to wait until the customer left before checking again, giving her an apologetic look. Zhang Jing didn't mind, said goodbye to her colleague, and went to meet Ah Long.

After waiting for a long time, A-Long finally called Zhang Jing back, saying that there was a traffic jam and asked Zhang Jing to wait a little longer. Zhang Jing sat in a chair and silently calculated for a long time, confirming that her investment of more than 7,000 shares had doubled to more than 30,000 yuan, making a profit of more than 20,000 yuan!

Zhang Jing's heart was pounding with excitement. She finally understood that the phrase people in her previous life often used to describe the stock market: "Even a pig can make money by buying stocks" was actually true!

However, now is not the time to sell the stock; we must wait for it to continue rising. This way, we won't be able to recover our funds. It seems we'll have to take the job Uncle Zhang recommended earlier. Today, we'll see what Aaron's attitude is. If he's unreliable, then we'll prioritize making money.

As soon as A-Long got out of the car, Zhang Jing complained about the long wait and the lack of food. A-Long hurriedly dragged her to eat first, then took her back to his rental apartment. When they got there, they just sat in the park downstairs and called the boy in his room to ask him to go check out the store.

It was already late at night when they entered the room. With four beds, it looked like a dormitory, and it seemed A-Long's living conditions were not good. As A-Long was holding Zhang Jing tenderly, Zhang Jing suggested, "Let's live together, and you can rent a room of your own." A-Long was surprised and asked Zhang Jing, "Do you want to live with me?" Zhang Jing was embarrassed and angrily said, "If you don't want to, why are you holding me? You don't think I'm being affectionate by doing this to you, do you?"

Ah Long tried to appease Zhang Jing, saying that current conditions didn't allow it. He'd wait until he and his brother had divided their property before deciding. He then asked Zhang Jing what she would sell if she were to open a shop. Zhang Jing casually replied, "Ice cream." Ah Long laughed and said, "Wouldn't that mean you could eat it all?"

Zhang Jing knew that A-Long had the Chaoshan business blood flowing through his veins, having been doing it for generations. She was a serious case of laziness, and being with A-Long wasn't a good match. She decided not to delve into it, believing there was plenty of time ahead.

At daybreak, it began to rain. A-Long said he didn't have an umbrella and would be late for work. Zhang Jing pulled an umbrella from her purse, walked him out, and told him to take a taxi. A-Long complained about the high cost of taxis, but Zhang Jing said it was better than being late for work, and besides, it rained, and it wasn't like he'd take a taxi every day. Persuaded, A-Long took a taxi.

Zhang Jing was still thinking about how, despite their different perspectives, they were both willing to listen to each other's advice. This was a good start, and hopefully it would develop into something good. Zhang Jing first went to the bookstore and bought two sweater knitting books. Seeing it was still early, she ordered breakfast at KFC. While eating, she thought about visiting the stock exchange hall later. It was raining today, so I guess many people wouldn't be out.

Clearly, Zhang Jing had underestimated the frenzy of stock investors. Many elderly people still showed up in the hall, regardless of weather. Not seeing Uncle Zhang, Zhang Jing sat down and continued browsing the stock market. She'd taken plenty of financial management classes in her past life. She wanted to see where many of the stocks used as examples were currently priced, to see if she could snag a bargain.
