Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace: Fawning

Chapter 32: Breaking up and leaving

After a few days, Lujun's health improved a lot and she was able to get out of bed and walk around freely.

Ke Xin dressed her up and said, "My lady, are we really going to send the Sixth Prince to Yonghe Palace?"

Looking at her haggard face in the mirror, Lujun couldn't stop her tears from flowing down. "I am a useless mother. When Empress Xiaoxian was still alive, she took the three-year-old Yongzhang away from me and sent him to Xiefang Palace to be raised by the maids. In the end, she let those servants ruin my Yongzhang..." Lujun bit her lip unwillingly, "Now, this palace and Yongzhang have been plotted against. Not only have I lost the emperor's favor, but also..."

As Lujun spoke, she couldn't help but cover her face and cry bitterly.

Ke Xin watched with heartache and advised, "My lady, don't be sad. You didn't want to do this. It's all Hai's fault. She schemed against us for Concubine Xian. You have to cheer up and don't let them laugh at you."

Lujun sniffed, wiped away her tears, picked up her eyebrow pencil and began to draw her eyebrows. "You are right. Hai promised to plot against me. There is no guarantee that Concubine Xian was not behind this. Since she is so unkind to me, I will naturally not let her have an easy time."

"Kexin, I want to go to Xiefang Palace to see Yongzhang and Yongrong. Please ask someone to prepare the sedan chair."

"Yes." Ke Xin replied.

When Lujun arrived at Xiefang Palace, Yongzhang was practicing calligraphy by the window. Hearing the noise, he turned around and saw that it was Lujun. He quickly put down his brush, stepped forward and saluted, saying, "Your son greets you, mother."

After not seeing each other for a few days, Lujun felt distressed when she saw Yongzhang had lost a lot of weight. She quickly stepped forward to help Yongzhang up and said, "Hurry up and get up."

"Thank you, mother." Yong Zhang stood up and helped Lujun sit on the chair. Kexin took the food box and took out the snacks inside and put them on the table.

After Lujun sat down, she looked at Yongzhang carefully. Seeing that his face was pale and his eye sockets were sunken, she asked distressedly, "Yongzhang, has the emperor given you any trouble these days?"

Yong Zhang shook his head and said, "My son is fine, mother, don't worry."

Lujun knew that Yongzhang was trying to comfort her, and she felt even more upset. "A few days ago, Yonghuang's wife came to Zhongcui Palace to pay her respects to my mother. She mentioned that Yonghuang was expelled from the palace by your father, the emperor. She also said that Yonghuang might not be able to come to the palace to pay his respects to me in the future. The emperor has issued an order that Yonghuang is not allowed to enter the palace without a summons."

Upon hearing this, Yong Zhang trembled, lowered his head and said nothing.

He knew that the emperor was really angry. If it weren't for his young age, it might not be just Yonghuang who would be driven out. Yongzhang was terrified. He was afraid that one day he would be disliked by the emperor like Yonghuang.

Seeing this, Lujun hugged Yongzhang in her arms with a distressed look on her face, saying, "It's mother's fault. It was mother who was possessed by the devil and fought for things that didn't belong to her. That's why you two brothers have ended up like this."

When Yong Zhang heard Lujun say this, he could no longer bear the grievance in his heart and hugged Lujun and cried bitterly.

Ke Xin watched from the side and couldn't help but have tears in her eyes.

"My lady, it's time for us to go to the Yangxin Palace." Ke Xin reminded.

Lujun stopped crying, let go of Yongzhang, and said, "Yongzhang, mother is leaving first. You must take good care of yourself."

Yong Zhang wiped away his tears, bowed and said, "Goodbye, mother."

Before leaving, Lujun went to see Yongrong again. Seeing that he was sleeping, Lujun did not disturb him too much.

When they arrived outside the Yangxin Palace, Li Yu stepped forward to stop Lujun and asked, "Empress Chun, why are you here?"

Lujun ignored her and continued walking forward with Kexin.

Li Yu followed in small steps, "Your Majesty, if you want to see the Emperor, please allow me to inform him..."

Lujun said with a cold face, "No need."

Inside the Yangxin Palace, Hongli was reviewing memorials when he heard hurried footsteps. He looked up and saw Lujun approaching. He frowned slightly and asked, "Noble Concubine Chun?"

Li Yu knelt down with a plop and said anxiously, "This slave deserves death. This slave really can't stop the Imperial Concubine."

Hongli waved his hand and ordered Li Yuhe and Kexin to leave.

Lujun knelt down respectfully and saluted Hongli, "Your Majesty, I greet you."

Hongli put down the memorial in his hand and said calmly, "Get up. How did Concubine Chun find time to come to the Yangxin Palace today? Are you feeling better?"

"I thank Your Majesty for your concern." Lujun thanked him but still refused to get up.

Hongli looked at him coldly and said, "What do you mean?"

Lujun kowtowed to Hongli and said slowly, "Your Majesty, I was wrong in what happened before. Not only did I fail to fulfill my duties as a concubine, but I also wanted to compete with others for the position of empress. I also failed to take good care of the two princes for Your Majesty. I feel guilty towards my ancestors, towards Empress Xiaoxian, and even more so towards you." Tears fell from Lujun's eyes like pearls, and she choked with sobs, "I dare not ask for Your Majesty's forgiveness. I do ask Your Majesty to have the grace to choose another virtuous mother for our Sixth Prince to teach him well."

Hongli stared at Lujun, puzzled, "What do you want to do?"

Lujun felt uneasy when Hongli looked at her, but she still pretended to be calm and said, "I dare not do anything, but these days I have come to understand that I do not have the blessing nor the ability to be the emperor's empress, let alone the ability to be the legitimate mother of the princes. I only ask that the emperor, considering Yongrong's young age, choose another mother for him and teach him well, and I will be satisfied."

Hongli looked at Lujun and suddenly felt that she had changed. Lujun loved her son dearly, so how could she be willing to send her own son away?

What exactly is her purpose?

Hongli stood up and walked in front of Lujun. He looked down at her with a cold face and said in a tentative tone, "Who do you want to raise Yongrong, Ruyi?"

Apart from the Empress Dowager, are there any other women in the harem with a more noble status than Ruyi?

Could it be that the person beside him is still thinking about how to seize the throne?

Lujun lowered her head and silently rolled her eyes in her heart. She wanted to tear Ruyi into pieces. Although her hatred was itching in her heart, she dared not show it on her face. She said slowly: "I dare not. Concubine Xian will soon be appointed as Imperial Noble Concubine. The status is too noble. Neither I nor Yongrong are that lucky. I think Concubine Mei is fine. Yongrong also likes to be close to Concubine Mei. I don't expect Yongrong to have a great future. I just hope that he is healthy and safe."

Lujun spoke so sincerely that Hongli was inevitably moved. Seeing that Lujun insisted, he had some ideological struggle and finally agreed to her request with a wave of his hand.

Lujun thanked her and walked out of the Yangxin Palace without disturbing Hongli's rest.

As soon as I walked out of the Yangxin Palace, I ran into Ruyi.

As soon as Ruyi saw Lujun, she stepped forward and asked warmly, "Lujun, are you feeling better?"

Lujun glanced at Ruyi coldly, said nothing, and walked straight past her.

Seeing Lujun being so cold towards her, Ruyi felt a little unhappy. She looked at Lujun's back and, with惢心's support, quickly caught up with her. "Lujun, I know you're angry about competing with me for the position of empress, but I hope you can understand that I have never thought of competing with you. I just want to do my best to assist the emperor and take good care of the princes. That's all."

Lujun stopped, turned around and looked at Ruyi, sneering, "Noble Concubine Xian, stop being so hypocritical. You know exactly what you're thinking. There's no need to be so sympathetic."

"Forgive me? Do you deserve it?"

As she spoke, Lujun looked at惢心 who was standing behind Ruyi and said coldly, "惢心, you follow a master like this. I feel really sorry for you. A Ruo is dead, and Hai promised to be under house arrest. Do you think you will be the next one?"

After saying that, Lujun left without looking back.

惢心 was so frightened that her legs went weak and she lowered her head with a red face.

Ruyi stood there, watching Lujun's departing figure, her face livid. She patted惢心's hand and comforted her, "惢心, as long as you don't betray me like A Ruo, I will never abandon you."

惢心 bit her lip, lifted her skirt and knelt down, "My lady, I am in love with Jiang Yebin from the Imperial Hospital. I beg you to grant my blessing."

Ruyi's smile froze, and she immediately helped惢心 up from the ground. "I know of your relationship with Imperial Physician Jiang. Jiang Yebin truly loves you and would never get involved with another woman. Please wait for a suitable opportunity, and I will ask the Emperor to grant you a marriage."

"But..."惢心 wanted to say that she was not young anymore, but Ruyi did not give her the chance to speak. She let go of惢心's hand and walked straight into the Yangxin Palace.
