Lin Yu looked at the change in the expression of the rich second generation in front of him, from the initial contempt to the current anxiety, and he already had some guesses in his mind.

"Tell me, what's going on?" Lin Yu put down the teacup and said calmly.

The second-generation rich man gritted his teeth and finally spoke: "My name is Zhang Haoran, and my family runs a private hospital in the provincial capital. I've recently seen some patients, but..."

He paused, as if trying to organize his words. "These patients developed strange illnesses while hospitalized. Not only did their conditions not improve, but their behavior became strange. Some cried inexplicably in the middle of the night, some said they saw deceased relatives walking around in the ward, and some suddenly became violent and attacked medical staff."

"And then?" Lin Yu raised his eyebrows.

"Rumors are spreading that our hospital is haunted by wronged spirits, and everyone who goes there becomes nervous. Now the hospital's business has plummeted, and if it continues like this, it will go bankrupt." Zhang Haoran's voice was filled with obvious anxiety.

Lin Yu nodded thoughtfully: "So you came to ask me to go and have a look?"

"Yes! I heard that you are an excellent doctor and can treat various difficult and complicated diseases. If you can help us solve this problem, I am willing to pay you a reward of 10 million." A glimmer of hope flashed in Zhang Haoran's eyes.

Ten million? Lin Yu smiled inwardly. This number was indeed not small for him, but he was more interested in the case itself. The fact that multiple patients had similar symptoms at the same time was definitely not as simple as the work of a wronged ghost.

"Interesting." Lin Yu stood up and asked, "When do we leave?"

"You agreed?" Zhang Haoran was overjoyed.

"Since we've met, let's go and take a look." Lin Yu packed up the medicine box, "But I have a condition. If you really solve the problem, in addition to the reward, I also want to know who your hospital has recently seen and what medicine they used."

Zhang Haoran nodded repeatedly: "No problem, no problem! Let's go now, I'll drive here."

Two hours later, Lin Yu sat in Zhang Haoran's luxury car and drove to the provincial capital.

"Doctor Lin, do you think this is really the work of a wronged ghost?" Zhang Haoran asked while driving.

Lin Yu looked at the scenery outside the window and said lightly: "There are indeed some phenomena in this world that science cannot explain for the time being, but most of the time, the so-called supernatural events have their scientific basis."

"Then what do you mean..."

"Let's talk about it when we get there." Lin Yu closed his eyes and began to recall the various medical knowledge he had mastered. The most likely cause of multiple people experiencing hallucinations and abnormal behavior at the same time was some kind of toxin or drug.

Zhang's Hospital in the provincial capital was a modern, fifteen-story building that looked quite impressive from the outside. However, the entrance to the hospital was deserted, with only a few patients entering and leaving in a hurry.

"Dad, I've invited Dr. Lin." Zhang Haoran took Lin Yu into the dean's office.

The middle-aged man sitting behind the desk was Zhang Haoran's father, Zhang Jianguo. He looked to be in his fifties, with a furrowed brow, obviously tormented by this incident.

"Hello, Dr. Lin." Zhang Jianguo stood up and shook hands. "Thank you so much for troubling you."

"Dean Zhang, you're too polite. I'd like to check on the conditions of those patients first." Lin Yu went straight to the point.

Zhang Jianguo immediately arranged for a nurse to lead the way. On the way to the ward, Lin Yu saw a lot of people gathered in the hospital, including doctors in white coats and some people who looked like experts and scholars.

"These are all experts we invited," Zhang Jianguo explained. "There are professors of neurology, psychology experts, and even a few feng shui masters."

Lin Yu nodded without saying anything more.

Inside the ward, several patients were in truly abnormal conditions. Some curled up in their beds, staring blankly at the ceiling; others kept mumbling to themselves, speaking incomprehensible words; and one middle-aged woman, upon seeing someone enter, began to sob, claiming she saw her dead mother standing by her bedside.

"How long have the symptoms been present?" Lin Yu asked.

"About a week," an attending physician replied. "We've done all sorts of tests, including CT scans, MRIs, and blood tests, but nothing abnormal has been found."

Lin Yu walked to the bedside of the first patient, a man in his forties who was originally hospitalized for stomach problems.

"Hello, I'm Doctor Lin." Lin Yu said gently.

The man turned and looked at him, fear in his eyes. "Doctor, can you see them? Those dark shadows, they keep floating around the room."

"What kind of shadow?"

"It's like... like human shapes, but without faces. They sometimes come near my bed, and I get scared." The man's voice was trembling.

Lin Yu put his hand on the man's wrist and began to feel his pulse. The pulse showed a fast heart rate, but this might be caused by fear. More importantly, he felt a special toxin flowing in his blood.

He had seen records of this toxin in ancient medical books. It was an ingredient extracted from special mushrooms that could cause hallucinations and mental abnormalities.

Lin Yu examined several other patients. Although their symptoms were not exactly the same, their pulses showed the same toxin characteristics.

Back in the conference room, experts from all walks of life were having heated discussions.

"I think this is mass hysteria," said a psychology professor. "In a closed environment, fear can be contagious, leading to collective hallucinations."

"No, this is clearly a neurological disease," the neurologist retorted. "It could be some unknown viral infection."

An old man in a Tang suit shook his head and said, "What modern medicine can't explain is a Feng Shui problem. There's something wrong with the layout of this hospital. The evil spirits are too strong, causing the Yin energy to gather."

Listening to these messy theories, Lin Yu couldn't help laughing.

"Dear experts, I have a different opinion." Lin Yu's voice was not loud, but it was clearly heard by everyone.

The conference room fell silent instantly, and everyone looked at the young doctor.

"Who is this?" the psychology professor asked with a frown.

"Doctor Lin, you are the expert I invited." Zhang Jianguo introduced quickly.

"So young?" The neurologist said with disdain, "Young man, this complex case is beyond your ability to handle."

Lin Yu ignored their questions and said directly: "These patients are all drug poisoning, to be more precise, a kind of alkaloid poisoning extracted from poisonous mushrooms. This toxin affects the brain's neurotransmitters, causing hallucinations and abnormal behavior."

"Nonsense!" The Feng Shui master slammed the table and stood up. "It's clearly a Feng Shui issue. What do you, a young brat, know?"

"Whether it's nonsense or not, you'll know after trying it." Lin Yu took out the silver needles from the medicine box, "I will use acupuncture to control the symptoms of several patients now. If it works, it means that my judgment is correct."
