Chapter 585 Prepare for Defense!
Everyone in the team instantly tensed up, their eyes fixed on the cave entrance, fearing an enemy might suddenly appear. Lu Yining quickly drew her weapon and glanced around vigilantly. "Everyone, stay alert and prepare for defense!" she whispered.
"Captain, the gunshot...came from that direction just now." A team member whispered, his voice trembling slightly.
"It could be an enemy patrol, or it could be support troops." Lin Hao analyzed calmly, "In any case, we can't stay here for long."
"Yes," Uncle Li nodded. "Although this cave is well hidden, it's still possible for the enemy to find us if they catch up."
Just as everyone was discussing countermeasures, a child suddenly grabbed Lu Yining's arm and said, "Captain sister, I seem to hear someone talking. Are those friendly troops over there?"
"Are you sure?" Lu Yining looked at the child in confusion, then listened carefully, and sure enough, he could faintly hear some conversation coming from a distance.
"It sounds like he's shouting something... Hurry up..." another villager echoed.
Lu Yining frowned and decided to take a risk and investigate. "Lin Hao, you take the others to stay here and protect everyone. I'll take a few people to check out the situation."
"Be careful," Lin Hao said in a deep voice. He gripped the weapon tightly in his hand, ready to deal with any emergency at any time.
Lu Yining nodded, selected a few agile team members, and quickly moved in the direction of the sound. They carefully passed through the dense forest and finally came to a relatively open clearing. Only a few flashlights flickered in the night.
"Stop! Who are you?" Suddenly, a voice came from the darkness, followed by a flashlight shining directly at Lu Yining and his group.
"Don't shoot, we are from Lu Yining's team!" Lu Yining raised his hands to indicate that he had no ill intentions.
There was silence for a moment, and then a familiar face stepped out from the darkness. "Captain Lu? It's you!"
"A Qiang? Why are you here?" Lu Yining asked in surprise.
"We are here to support you. We heard that you were in trouble, so the command center sent us here to help." A Qiang explained with a tired but happy smile on his face.
"Really? That's great!" Lu Yining breathed a long sigh of relief, and the tension in his heart instantly eased a lot.
"However, now is not the time to relax," A Qiang said seriously, "Our intelligence shows that the enemy may have discovered your previous whereabouts and is now stepping up their search of this area."
"Then what should we do?" Lu Yining asked anxiously.
"We have a plan," Aqiang said. "The command center has provided us with detailed geographical information, and there's also a more secret path that can bypass the enemy's blockade. As long as we act according to the plan, we should be able to evacuate safely."
"That's great. This will greatly increase our chances of winning." Lu Yining nodded in agreement.
"But before that, we need to get rid of this enemy patrol in front of us." A Qiang pointed at several dark shadows in the distance and said, "They seem to have noticed what's going on here and are moving towards us."
"Understood, let's act immediately." Lu Yining said firmly, "Ajie, bring a few team members with me to eliminate those enemies. The rest of you will continue to stay in the cave and wait for further instructions."
"Okay, everything is ready, Captain." Ajie responded.
"Remember, move quickly and accurately, and try not to expose your position." Lu Yining warned, and then led several team members to quickly disappear into the night.
"Captain, can we really escape safely?" A little child asked worriedly as he watched Lu Yining leaving.
"Don't worry, with so many brave people around us, everything will be fine." Lin Hao comforted him. He squatted down and gently patted the child's shoulder.
"Besides, we have many friends waiting to help us." A villager also said with a smile.
"Yes, as long as we unite as one, there are no difficulties that cannot be overcome." Another villager echoed.
At this moment, gunshots rang out again in the distance. Everyone held their breath, waiting for good news from Lu Yining and the others. And deep in the jungle, a tense and fierce battle was about to begin...
"Captain, are we ready to attack?" a team member asked in a low voice.
Lu Yining carefully observed the situation ahead through the gaps in the leaves and responded softly, "Wait a little longer. Wait until the enemy enters the trap range before taking action."
"Okay, Captain." The team members nodded one after another, and everyone gripped their weapons tightly, waiting for the final instructions.
At that moment, the night seemed to stretch on for ever longer, a tense and oppressive atmosphere thick in the air. The outcome of this battle would directly impact their future. The night was as dark as ink, moonlight filtering through the sparse treetops, casting dappled shadows. Lu Yining and her team lurked in the dense forest, holding their breath and awaiting the perfect moment to attack. In the distance, an enemy patrol approached, their flashlight beams flickering in the darkness, emitting a blinding glare.
"Captain, look!" A team member whispered, pointing to a small mound not far ahead.
Lu Yining followed his gesture and saw the enemy patrol slowly climbing over the slope. She nodded and whispered, "Everyone, get ready and proceed according to the plan!"
The team members moved silently to their designated positions, ready to strike. Lu Yining took a deep breath, gripped his weapon tightly, and prepared to launch a fatal attack.
At this moment, a burst of hurried footsteps suddenly sounded. Lu Yining's heart tightened and he quickly turned around to check. He saw a figure rushing out from the woods. It was the child who had just stayed in the cave. He was terrified and almost crying.
"Captain sister..." the little boy's voice trembled, "Someone is coming over there in the cave!"
Lu Yining's heart sank as she realized the situation might be more complicated than she'd anticipated. The enemy wasn't just a patrol; they seemed to have reinforcements. She made a quick decision: "Ajie, lead a few team members to the cave to provide support and ensure everyone's safety."
Ajie nodded and quickly disappeared into the darkness with several team members. Meanwhile, the enemy was approaching the planned attack position.
"What should we do now, Captain?" a team member asked in a low voice with a hint of nervousness in his tone.
Lu Yining's gaze was unwavering. She knew she couldn't afford to hesitate. "Let's deal with this patrol first, then we'll go provide support," she said calmly. "Everyone, pay attention! We'll start moving in three seconds."
