The Hump Route was an international air transport route jointly developed by China and the United States from May 1942 to September 5 during World War II. It flew from Tingjiang in Assam, northeastern India, over the mountains and ridges on the China-Myanmar-India border to Kunming, Yunnan, Chongqing, Sichuan and other places in China.

In May 1942, the Japanese army cut off China's last land transportation line, the Burma Road. China and the United States were forced to open the "Hump Route" to supply materials for China's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the United States in the Asian battlefield.

At its peak, air transport volume reached tons per month. Assuming a transport aircraft could carry five tons each time, an average of over 5 aircraft entered China via this route daily. To fully utilize this capacity and avoid empty cabins, a large number of young and junior officers from China boarded return flights to India for training and re-equipment. Many veterans of the expeditionary force had experience flying the Hump Route. The Hump Route was the longest, largest, and most arduous air transport route of World War II.
