Years turn into wind

Chapter 96 Crisis Resolved

The next morning, Cheng Yuwei packed her antidotes and simple chemical equipment and followed Ling Xiaotian to various locations around the city to investigate for spies. While seemingly treating civilians and detoxifying them, they all knew in their hearts that this was more of a battle of wits than a hidden battle.

They quietly arrived at a dilapidated house in the city. According to intelligence, several key spies from the Cang Lang remnants might be hiding there. Cheng Yuwei slowly entered the room, ostensibly to check on the patient, but in reality, secretly observing every suspicious individual. She keenly noticed a thin man with a wandering gaze, deliberately avoiding her gaze.

"Xiaotian, I'm a little suspicious of this person." Cheng Yuwei reminded in a low voice.

Ling Xiaotian nodded and responded in a low voice: "Leave the others away first, I'll handle it."

Cheng Yuwei nodded in understanding and pretended to walk casually to the other side of the ward to divert the attention of other patients, while Ling Xiaotian gently walked behind the man and suddenly pinned him down.

The man struggled, but was unable to move under Ling Xiaotian's control. He sneered, seemingly smug, "Oh, you think you can stop everything by capturing me? While you were trying to capture me, my companions had already laid a tight net, waiting for you to walk into it!"

Ling Xiaotian smiled coldly: "Don't worry, we have our own countermeasures. As for you, I'm afraid you won't be so lucky today."

After bringing the man back to the dungeon in the mansion, Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian stood outside the prison door. Seeing the man's stubborn attitude and refusing to give in, they couldn't help feeling a little anxious.

"It seems that their plan is even bigger. We have to find his companions as soon as possible." Cheng Yuwei said thoughtfully.

Ling Xiaotian patted her shoulder soothingly and said firmly, "Don't worry, this spy is already trapped. The more he insists on his words, the more worried he is that we will find his accomplices."

They took turns interrogating the man, while Cheng Yuwei used chemical methods to analyze the items he carried, trying to find clues. Finally, she found a special powder in the man's sleeve - this powder was no different from others, but she recognized it as a means of transmitting secret information.

"Xiaotian, this is their way of delivering messages. Just soak it in water and words will appear." Cheng Yuwei explained excitedly, with wisdom glittering in her eyes.

They immediately dissolved the powder in water, and soon lines of cryptic text appeared on the note. Cheng Yuwei read the contents word for word, and Ling Xiaotian's eyes flashed coldly.

"So they're planning a surprise attack on our residence tonight," Ling Xiaotian sneered. "If that's the case, then we should welcome their arrival!"

As night fell, the entire Marshal's Mansion was heavily guarded, with soldiers quietly ambushing in various hidden locations, ready for battle. Cheng Yuwei, dressed in casual clothes, stood beside Ling Xiaotian, feeling both nervous and excited.

She whispered to Ling Xiaotian, "Let these people have a taste of our power tonight!"

Ling Xiaotian smiled slightly and gently took her hand: "Yuwei, no matter what happens, you are always by my side."

Cheng Yuwei held his hand tightly and encouraged him: "I will always be here with you."

Soon after, several figures quietly sneaked into the backyard of the Marshal's Mansion, preparing to detonate the explosives. The moment they gave the signal, Ling Xiaotian gave the order, and the soldiers who had been lying in ambush quickly surrounded the entire backyard.

"Don't move! You are surrounded!" the soldiers shouted and quickly subdued the spies.

Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian, who had been observing everything from the shadows, smiled at each other, and the tense atmosphere finally relaxed a little. Cheng Yuwei breathed a sigh of relief, turned to Ling Xiaotian and said, "It's finally clean."

Ling Xiaotian looked at her tenderly and said softly, "Yuwei, thank you. If it weren't for your wit and courage, this operation wouldn't have gone so smoothly."

Cheng Yuwei smiled slightly, a warm feeling of satisfaction welling up in her heart. At this moment, she suddenly felt a little shy and whispered, "Actually, I'm very happy to help you do this."

Ling Xiaotian held her hand, his voice low and gentle: "Yuwei, no matter what happens in the future, you are the person I trust the most."

There was a glimmer in Cheng Yuwei's eyes and she nodded gently.
