Years turn into wind

Chapter 75 Deep love

As war looms, a tense atmosphere descends upon the mansion. Despite the heavy responsibilities shouldered by Ling Xiaotian and Cheng Yuwei, their bond grows stronger amidst this turbulent time.

On this day, Ling Xiaotian was about to lead his troops to the border. Before leaving, he carefully arranged the defense of the mansion. Turning to Cheng Yuwei, he urged, "Take good care of yourself while I'm away."

Cheng Yuwei felt a little reluctant when she heard his earnest words, but she still smiled calmly and said softly, "Go ahead. I'll wait for you here until you return triumphantly."

Ling Xiaotian gazed at her, his heart filled with reluctance and tenderness. He suddenly approached her, slowly holding her in his arms, and whispered, "Yuwei, every time I go on a campaign, I'm fearless of life and death, but only this time, I'm worried."

Cheng Yuwei smiled and gently held his hand, saying firmly, "I will wait for you here, waiting for you to bring back news of victory."

Ling Xiaotian nodded slightly, his eyes affectionate and firm: "Yuwei, no matter what storms we go through, I will come back and will not let you wait alone anymore."

A few days later, Ling Xiaotian led his elite troops on their expedition, while Cheng Yuwei stayed behind at the mansion to analyze the battle situation with the military staff. Every night, she stood alone at the window, silently gazing into the distance, her heart filled with worry and anticipation.

The war was not going smoothly, and the enemy attacks along the border were fierce and unpredictable. Ling Xiaotian repeatedly ventured into the front lines, personally leading his soldiers to repel the enemy, toiling daily on the battlefield with barely a moment's rest. However, whenever he found a moment of leisure, Cheng Yuwei's image would appear in his mind. Her gentle smile was his driving force.

As the battle dragged on, Ling Xiaotian's troops, under his command, advanced steadily, ultimately achieving a preliminary victory. The enemy was driven back from the border, but Ling Xiaotian knew this was only temporary peace; the true test was yet to come.

A few days later, Ling Xiaotian was finally able to return to the mansion temporarily, bringing back news that the border had been pacified. Everyone in the mansion was jubilant, and Cheng Yuwei even greeted him at the door. Seeing him exhausted yet still energetic, she felt both distressed and relieved.

"Thank you for your hard work." She said softly, her eyes full of tenderness.

Ling Xiaotian smiled slightly, reached out and gently stroked her face, and whispered: "If I hadn't been thinking about you, I would have been exhausted long ago."

Cheng Yuwei's heart ached. She pulled him back to the mansion, carefully prepared hot water for him, and personally untied his armor for him. Looking at his face, which was slightly thinner due to running around day and night, she couldn't help but sigh and said, "The war is over. You should have a good rest for a few days."

Ling Xiaotian gently held her hand and said softly, "Having you here is the best rest for me."

Cheng Yuwei lowered her head and smiled, her heart filled with warmth. She leaned gently on his shoulder, feeling his body temperature, and it seemed that everything in the chaotic world had become calm.

That night, Ling Xiaotian finally relaxed for a moment in Cheng Yuwei's company. However, this brief moment of warmth didn't last long. The next morning, new news arrived: Liu Jingyao's remnants had returned, intent on causing chaos in the city.

Cheng Yuwei's eyes glared when she heard this: "It seems they are planning to attack you again when you are least prepared, completely disrupting order at the border and in the city."

Ling Xiaotian snorted coldly, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes: "They want to disrupt me, but they forget that all conspiracies are just tricks in front of me."

He turned to look at Cheng Yuwei and said softly, "Yuwei, this time I need your help in setting up the defenses in the city. I have always trusted your talents."

Cheng Yuwei smiled slightly and nodded, "Don't worry, I will definitely help you defend this city."

Ling Xiaotian gazed at her deeply and said gently but firmly, "Yuwei, as long as you are here, I have nothing to fear."
