Years turn into wind

After a night of rain, the courtyard of Ling Xiaotian's mansion looked brand new. The morning sun shone brightly on the bluestone slabs. Su Jinyan carried a small basket filled with fresh vegetables she had just picked from the backyard. She hummed a little tune as she walked towards the kitchen, her expression relaxed.

As soon as she reached the door, she saw Ling Xiaotian, dressed in casual clothes, leaning against the doorframe, looking at her. His hair was slightly damp, clearly fresh from washing up, and he looked exceptionally refreshed. Seeing this, Su Jinyan couldn't help but tease, "Marshal Ling, you're free today. You actually have time to wait for me here?"

Ling Xiaotian raised the corner of his mouth, stepped forward, took the basket from her hand, and said with a bit of doting: "The breakfast you made is delicious. I just came here to eat for free."

"You're quite sweet." Su Jinyan shook her head and followed him into the kitchen. The two of them busied themselves with washing vegetables while the other cut them. The atmosphere in the kitchen was particularly warm.

As the two were joking, they suddenly heard hurried footsteps in the courtyard. Ling Xiaotian put down his knife and quickly walked out. A moment later, he returned, his expression slightly solemn.

"What happened?" Su Jinyan asked hurriedly when he saw this.

"I just got the news that someone sneaked into the armory in the back mountain. Fortunately, they were discovered in time by the patrol team. However, this matter may not be simple." Ling Xiaotian said as he put on his coat, obviously going to check it out in person.

Su Jinyan frowned: "Do you need me to go and take a look? Maybe I can help."

Ling Xiaotian hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "Okay, follow me, but be careful."

When the two arrived at the armory, soldiers were already deployed around it. After some questioning, Ling Xiaotian learned that although the intruder had been captured, he still refused to reveal his identity and purpose.

Su Jinyan looked at the bound man, sensing he was no ordinary spy. She took a few steps closer and asked sharply, "Who are you? Why are you sneaking in here?"

The man raised his head and smiled strangely: "Kill me or chop me up, it's up to you. I won't say a word."

Su Jinyan sneered: "Really? Then you know, there are plenty of ways to make you speak."

Her words made the man's face change slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. Seeing this, Su Jinyan became even more convinced that there must be a larger conspiracy behind this man. She exchanged a glance with Ling Xiaotian and whispered, "I need some time to investigate his background."

Ling Xiaotian nodded: "I will have people strengthen the defense and not let these people take advantage of the opportunity again."

That night, Su Jinyan, through meticulous investigation and analysis, finally discovered the spy's flaw. A jade pendant he carried bore a similar carving to that of the previously eliminated rebel leader! Even more shocking was the discovery that the jade pendant was somehow connected to a special compound she had accidentally researched before her time travel.

This made Su Jinyan realize that perhaps her arrival in this era wasn't accidental, but rather orchestrated by some force. She suppressed her doubts and shared her findings with Ling Xiaotian.

Ling Xiaotian's expression darkened upon hearing this: "If there really is a bigger conspiracy behind this, we must not take it lightly."

Su Jinyan nodded: "But we can't act rashly. The other party must be watching our every move in the dark."

As they were talking, a soldier ran in in a panic: "Marshal! Someone just delivered a letter, saying it's for you."

Ling Xiaotian opened the envelope, his brow furrowing ever deeper. He handed the letter to Su Jinyan. It contained only a few words, yet they carried a strong hint of provocation: "Your game has only just begun."
