Years turn into wind

The next morning, Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian attended to military affairs as usual. However, amidst this seemingly peaceful day, Cheng Yuwei felt a sense of unease. Cheng Yuwei smiled softly, her brows flashing with confidence: "This is just a preliminary response. The remaining Canglangs will not retreat so easily. We must remain vigilant at all times."

Ling Xiaotian nodded and said, "Yes, but I won't give them the chance to hurt you."

The words were gentle yet firm, and Cheng Yuwei felt a warmth in her heart, and her eyes could not help but linger on his face for a moment. The two looked at each other, their eyes full of trust and dependence on each other, as if they were the most solid support in the midst of war.

In the evening, Ling Xiaotian arranged a short break and invited Cheng Yuwei for a stroll in the back garden. The setting sun cast a dreamlike glow across the garden. As they walked side by side, their steps slow and gentle, Cheng Yuwei realized how precious these peaceful moments together were after all the ups and downs they had endured.

"Yuwei, do you sometimes wonder, if there were no wars and disputes, would we have more time like this?" Ling Xiaotian asked softly, with a hint of emotion in his tone.

Ling Xiaotian looked at her, his eyes full of tenderness: "Yes, with you by my side, my heart can be at peace. Yuwei, thank you."

Ling Xiaotian's expression immediately turned grim upon hearing this. He held Cheng Yuwei's hand tightly and gently soothed her, "Yuwei, go back to your room first. I'll take care of this matter."

Cheng Yuwei nodded and watched him leave, but she still felt a lingering unease in her heart. She knew this raid was no accident, and perhaps the enemy had a deeper plan.

Back in her room, she still felt uneasy and began to wonder if she needed to make some preparations to prevent further enemy attacks. She went to the laboratory, took out several bottles of her research, and placed them on the table, considering how to distribute them to the soldiers in the army so that they could respond quickly in the event of an emergency.

Cheng Yuwei felt the warmth of his palm and nodded gently: "Okay, I will have a good rest tonight. But... you too."

Ling Xiaotian smiled and patted her hand, his tone full of concern: "Don't worry, I will be careful when I am with you."
