The oxen pulled the cart at a furious pace, finally slowing down when they were tired. They had already entered the mountains. Mu Qingcheng's waist was nearly broken from the shaking, and she managed to sit up by clinging to the shaft of the cart.

Night fell upon the surroundings. Mu Qingcheng stared around with wide eyes, wary. It was as if a giant monster was staring at her in the darkness, ready to bite her if she turned around. It was too dark here, too scary.

Mu Qingcheng had been terrified of the dark since she was little, and she couldn't bear to be home alone at night. This was her first time spending the night alone in the wild. She turned on a powerful flashlight and shone it around, but all she could see were large, sturdy trees, one after another, and nothing else.

The flashlight is rechargeable, but there's nowhere to charge it here, so it's going to be used up every time. She gathered her energy, hurriedly jumped off the oxcart, tied the ox to a tree, and quickly got back on the oxcart, wrapping herself in a straw mat. This gave her a slight sense of security.

Gripping the flashlight in her hand, she gritted her teeth and mustered the courage to turn it off, only to be plunged back into darkness. A chilly breeze blew, and she felt a bit chilly. It was July, the height of summer, when she'd arrived. Before boarding the plane, she'd worn a short-sleeved summer T-shirt and cropped jeans. Once on the plane, she'd put on her flight suit. How could she feel cold wearing so many layers? She must be shaking with fear and nervousness.

In this strange and dark forest, she was alone with her cow. Thinking about her future life, Mu Qingcheng became even more panicked. She had no money, no friends, and even no identity here. She was just a little girl. If she went out, would she be sold again?

What should she do?

The more she thought about it, the more nervous and scared she became, and the more she regretted going skydiving. Otherwise, she would still be lying in her comfortable big bed, scrolling through her phone and watching TV series and videos.

Her empty stomach was cramped again, and she remembered how long it had been since she had eaten. She missed her mother's cooking so much, but she would never be able to eat it again.

Wuu... Wuu... Wuu! She thought miserably.

Her parents and brother must have known she was missing. They wouldn't give up searching for her until they found her body. But they could never have guessed that she would fall into a crack in time and space, traveling through time and space to another world.

Mu Qingcheng felt increasingly saddened by the thought of never seeing her parents and brother again. Tears streamed down her face. She was so hungry she didn't even have the energy to cry. She pulled a piece of chocolate from her pocket, tore open the wrapper, and munched on it. Eating it this way gave her a deep sense of satisfaction. But she didn't dare eat too much, as food was limited.

Speaking of food, she thought of her black backpack. She had to get that bag back, as well as her life-saving first aid kit.

Thinking of this, Mu Qingcheng quickly pulled out a palm-sized notebook from her trouser pocket. There was a carbon pen tucked into the side of the notebook. This was her only personal belonging. This small notebook was filled with all the information about skydiving, and she always carried it with her.

Mu Qingcheng turned on the flashlight. She wanted to remember the route to Gou Wa's house. Although she couldn't see it at the time, the feeling was still there. It was better to write down some details along the way. After noting the route, Mu Qingcheng put away the small notebook and turned off the flashlight reluctantly.

The pain in her stomach was gone after she had food in it, but she was still very hungry. She wrapped herself in a straw mat and lay on the ox cart, looking at the sky and counting the stars. While counting, she actually fell asleep.

Mu Qingcheng was awakened by the sound of a cow mooing. When she opened her eyes, it was already bright outside, and she had no idea what time it was. The surroundings were still gloomy. It wasn't that it was cloudy, but rather that the tall, dense canopy of trees blocked out the sunlight. Through the gaps in the dense branches and leaves, she could see the sun's position. It must be around ten o'clock in the morning.

Mu Qingcheng looked around. It had been so dark last night that she had no idea which direction she had come from. This was deep in a dense forest, and beyond that was a steep hillside. No wonder the cattle stopped here; it turned out that there was no road ahead.

Mu Qingcheng untied the rope that tied the cow, took the cow to find a piece of grass, and let it eat breakfast by itself.

Mu Qingcheng gently stroked the ox's back with gratitude. If the old ox hadn't stepped forward, she might not have been able to escape last night! She also felt that she was quite lucky. She actually owned an ox cart in ancient times, and one that didn't need to burn oil. It was quite beautiful to think about it. She didn't know how old this ox was. Was it an old ox or a young ox?

"Anyway! I think you are definitely not older than me, so you must call me sister. Then what should I call you?"

What name should she give her cow? Da Huang? Wang Cai? Xiao Tian Niu? These are all dog names, not suitable for her cow at all.

"I have to give you a name that's awe-inspiring and domineering!"

Before she could even think of a name, her stomach started growling again. Sighing, she said, "If only I could lie on the ground and eat grass."

Think about others who traveled through time to ancient times, going up the mountain to pick wild vegetables, mushrooms, ginseng, and Chinese medicinal herbs. They could easily make a fortune and everyone could thrive in ancient times.

She was a complete novice, only interested in food. Wild vegetables? Never seen them. Mushrooms? Couldn't tell which were poisonous and which were not. Ginseng? She had one at home, her father used it to make wine, and she'd seen it. She probably wouldn't recognize what it looked like growing on the ground. As for Chinese medicinal herbs, she knew even less.

"Oh my god! Why did you ask me to come here? You didn't even give me a plot hint. At least give me some space! Or at least let me bring a supermarket here!"

She roared to the sky! For a long moment, the treetops above her head remained thick and dense, and not even the sound of the wind responded to her! Forget it, I should just check how much food I have!

Mu Qingcheng helplessly took out all the snacks and usable items in her pocket and counted them one by one.

Two small cakes, six chocolate sandwich cookies, four durian shortbreads, four chocolate bars, and six compressed biscuits—twenty-two packets in total. She also had two small packets of tissues, five capsules, a flashlight, a military knife, and a notebook—that was all she had.

When she arrived here, she found an ox cart with two baskets, two straw mats (one of which was broken), and a bundle of cut ropes. This was all her belongings.

Mu Qingcheng put the food back into her pocket, ate a piece of cake, and then felt thirsty. She was shocked to realize that she had no water.

Mu Qingcheng patted the ox's head and said earnestly, "Aniu! You're thirsty too, aren't you? Why don't you take me to find some water?"

The cow mooed twice, but no one knew if it understood or not, as it continued walking along the mountain range. Mu Qingcheng had no choice but to climb onto the cart. She couldn't tell east from west or north, so she had to go wherever the cow wanted to go.

The man and the cow had been walking in the forest for almost an hour, but they hadn't seen even a drop of water. Mu Qingcheng's throat was almost smoking, she was thirsty and hungry, and the heavy green shadows in front of her eyes made it impossible to focus. She felt like she was about to die, and the sound of rushing water filled her ears.

"I... must... be hallucinating. Ah... cow... did you find any water?"

Moo... Moo... The old yellow cow's cry responded to her.

Water, it really is the sound of flowing water.

Mu Qingcheng jumped up from the car, stroking the cow's back excitedly, and praised it, "Aniu, you are awesome!"
