Death: Captain Millennium

Chapter 127 Confused Rukia (1)

As the bell rang for the end of get out of class, Ichigo pulled Rukia up to the rooftop.

"Hey! Ichigo, why are you in such a hurry? Now there's no trace of the Hollow, or are you eager to get familiar with the power of the Shinigami?"

"Neither. I have a very important question for you."

Rukia was suspicious. "What's the problem?"

Ichigo asked seriously, "Can ordinary people become Shinigami?"

"How did you even remember to ask that?"

"Just tell me if you can?"

"If ordinary people want to become Shinigami, they can only do so by being imbued with Shinigami power like you have. However, this is only one way. The most basic requirement is to have the potential to become a Shinigami. Otherwise, no matter how much Shinigami power you imbue, it will be useless. Another way is to go to Soul Society after death, study systematically at the Shinō Academy, and then join the Gotei 13 to become a Shinigami."

"That is to say, if a person has the potential to become a Death God, but is still alive, is it possible for him to possess the power of a Death God through some means?"

"Of course it's possible. As long as he can be infused with enough Death God power and can withstand it, he can become a Death God. But this is difficult to achieve. After all, not everyone has such a strong soul and physical strength."

"And even if they succeed, they'll still suffer from various side effects due to not adapting to it. They might even lose their minds or turn into a monster. So, generally speaking, we don't just give someone the power of the Shinigami."

Ichigo Kurosaki quickly pondered these two possibilities in his mind, frowning, a hint of doubt in his eyes. He then asked Rukia again, "So, have you, the Gotei 13, had any female Shinigami been stationed in the human world in recent decades?"

Rukia's expression grew increasingly confused upon hearing this question. She shook her head, indicating she wasn't aware of such a situation. She continued, "As far as I know, Shinigami are usually dispatched to the human world in rotation, depending on the mission, to ensure that each region receives timely protection and oversight."

"Generally speaking, no Grim Reaper would stay in one place for decades. However, things are unpredictable, and there may be some special circumstances or exceptions, but I don't really know much about such things. After all, I am just an ordinary Grim Reaper, and I don't fully understand the decisions and arrangements of the top management." After saying this, she spread her hands helplessly, expressing her helplessness in the face of this problem.

Ichigo rubbed his temples, feeling a severe headache. He took a deep breath and said, "Well, let me tell you this, my mother is also a Shinigami."

Hearing this, Rukia's eyes widened and she retorted in disbelief: "What? How is this possible!"

Ichigo sighed helplessly and continued to explain, "This is the truth. Some time ago, I saw with my own eyes that my mother turned into your previous appearance in order to save my father. She was wearing the same Shinigami uniform as you and holding a Zanpakutō in her hand. That's why I asked you if there are any Shinigami who have been permanently present in Soul Society recently."

"What's your mother's name?" Rukia asked Ichigo.

"Her name is Kurosaki Masaki," Ichigo replied.

Rukia lowered her head in thought, "Kurosaki Masaki? The Soul Society's list of Shinigami is all there, but I've never heard of your mother's name. What's going on?"

"Then there is only one possibility now. Someone infused my mother with the power of the Shinigami and turned her into a Shinigami." Ichigo guessed.

"Why don't you ask her yourself?" Rukia said.

"Of course I asked, but she didn't answer me, otherwise why would I ask you," Ichigo said, rolling his eyes.

Rukia also became interested in this matter. "After school, I will go home with you to meet your family."

The two of them walked in silence and soon returned to Ichigo's house.

"I'm back." Ichigo opened the door and shouted inside.

"Welcome home~" a gentle female voice sounded.

Ichigo and Rukia looked at each other and looked into the house at the same time, only to see a beautiful woman wearing an apron standing in the kitchen, looking at them with a smile.

"Mom..." Ichigo exclaimed in surprise.

"Is this your mother?" Rukia asked in confusion.

"Yeah..." Ichigo nodded.

At this moment, Kurosaki Masaki noticed Rukia at the door, and a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

"Who is this..." asked Kurosaki Masaki.

"She is my classmate Rukia, a new transfer student and also a Shinigami." Ichigo introduced helplessly.

Hearing this, Kurosaki Masaki almost choked on his own saliva: "Death God..."

"Hello, auntie. My name is Rukia. I'm the Shinigami of the 13th Squad. You shouldn't be the Shinigami of the 13th Squad, right?" Rukia greeted politely.

"I..." Kurosaki Masaki didn't know what to say.

"Uh...well...actually I'm a retired Shinigami for a long time." Kurosaki Masaki smiled awkwardly, thinking that this child was really naive and cute.

"Aunt, as far as I know, there is no such thing as retirement for the God of Death. How did you get the power of the God of Death?" Rukia asked relentlessly.

"I was indeed a member of the Gotei 13, but later left for some reasons." Kurosaki Masaki explained with a wry smile.

Rukia wouldn't easily believe such words, and the atmosphere became awkward.

At this moment, a discordant laugh came from the inner room: "My dear son! You have grown up and finally brought your female classmates home. I, your father, am really pleased."

Ichigo's face flushed red upon hearing this, and he roared, "What are you talking about, you old man? Rukia is just my classmate! Classmate!"

Kurosaki Isshin came out from the inner room upon hearing this and looked at Rukia curiously: "Kuchiki Rukia?"

"Hey! Dad, do you know her?" Ichigo asked in surprise.

Unlike Kurosaki Isshin's reaction, Rukia stood there as if struck by lightning, her mouth unconsciously opened wide.

"Shiba...Captain Shiba!"

However, Isshin's expression changed drastically, and he denied loudly: "No, you must have recognized the wrong person. I am not Captain Shiba, I am just an ordinary person named Kurosaki Isshin."

Rukia couldn't believe her ears, but she quickly came to her senses and said firmly: "No, it's impossible, I definitely didn't make a mistake. Captain Shiba, why are you here? And you turned into an ordinary person? And there are rumors that you were killed by my teacher?"

Rukia's mind was in turmoil. The captain of the 10th Division, Shiba Isshin, who had been presumed dead, had suddenly appeared before her alive and had become an ordinary person. And Kurosaki Masaki, who was supposed to be an ordinary person, was actually a Shinigami. These sudden facts were difficult for Rukia to accept, and she began to doubt her own understanding.

Rukia's heart was filled with doubts, and she was eager to know what had happened. Faced with such a complex and confusing situation, Rukia felt that her three views had been challenged as never before.
