The Rise of the Youth in the War of Resistance

In the distant year of 1898, in Maoping, Ninggang County, at the foot of Jinggang Mountain, with a loud cry, the boy Yuan Wencai was born!

At the same time, in Xiazhuang, a little guy couldn't wait to come into this world. He was Wang Zuo, nicknamed Nan Dou, also known as Yunhui.

These two friends who were born in the same year have very different destinies.

Yuan Wencai's family conditions were relatively good, and he had the opportunity to learn to read and write. He also went to junior high school in Yongxin County. When he walked in the village, he held his head high and chest out, like a proud little rooster.

But Wang Zuo was miserable. His family was so poor that mice could run through it. When he was a little kid, he had to go out to do odd jobs like a donkey, carrying firewood and rice, and following his mother to make tofu and sell it. As a result, he was often cheated out of all his money. His life was so miserable!

Wang Zuo felt so aggrieved that he often complained to the heavens:

At the age of 12, he gritted his teeth and ran to Yongxin to learn tailoring. From then on, he kept talking about

"With a pair of scissors and a ruler, I travel around the world looking for a living."

But earning that hard-earned money is harder than climbing to the sky, and is often exploited like a vampire by local tyrants and evil gentry.

Wang Zuo couldn't stand this hot temper, so he stamped his feet, gritted his teeth, and went to learn boxing from a master, secretly swearing in his heart:

"When I become a skilled martial artist, I'll beat the living crap out of you bad guys!"

At the age of 20, Wang Zuo made up his mind and joined the Green Forest Army, responsible for reconnaissance and procurement.

In the hot summer of 1922, this guy succeeded in kidnapping and got a gun. He immediately raised the banner of "killing the rich and helping the poor" like a majestic hero, and specifically went against the government and local tyrants and evil gentry.

Most of the wealth he obtained was distributed to his brothers and poor families like candies. He was so generous and magnanimous!

From then on, the reactionaries in this area were scared like mice seeing a cat and dared not set foot there easily. The lives of the people in Jinggangshan were able to breathe a sigh of relief and became a little more stable.

But these good days are like a rabbit's tail, they cannot last long.

In 1925, the skinhead army launched a massive and aggressive attack.

Wang Zuo had no choice but to reluctantly accept the "amnesty" and became the deputy commander of the "Xinsui Border Security Corps". Later, he was promoted to commander.

What is unexpected is that there are people in the security team who have evil intentions and are determined to murder Wang Zuo. However, is Wang Zuo an ordinary person?

He was like a nimble monkey. Taking advantage of the darkness of the night, he leaped over the wall without hesitation, then ran away like the wind and disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye.

Wang Zuo ran all the way towards Maoping, just to find Yuan Wencai as soon as possible to seek help.

Now let's talk about Yuan Wencai. He has been extremely unlucky recently.

Because his father suddenly fell seriously ill and was bedridden and in urgent need of care, Yuan Wencai had no choice but to drop out of school and go home to serve his father.

This was enough to make him depressed, but even more tragic things were yet to come.

His gentle and kind wife was forcibly abducted by the local bully as if she were a rare treasure.

Not long after, even his loving mother was brutally killed by the mopping-up team, as ruthlessly as cutting down cabbages.

The successive blows made Yuan Wencai feel as if he had been unlucky for eight lifetimes, and his heart was filled with endless grief and anger.

Finally, Yuan Wencai could no longer bear it. Like an enraged lion, he resolutely went up the mountain to join the green forest organization "Saber Team", and became the chief of staff with his own intelligence and talent.

Yuan Wencai had long heard of Wang Zuo's integrity, generosity, and extraordinary courage and insight.

Now that the two had met for the first time, it was like a tortoise meeting a mung bean—they immediately fell in love! Wang Zuo laughed and said:

"Hey, brother, I didn't expect that we were born in the same year. It seems that this is a fate specially arranged by God!"

Yuan Wencai also nodded excitedly and responded:

"That's right. Since we are so destined to be together, why don't we just kneel down and kowtow to each other and become sworn brothers?"

Wang Zuo readily agreed:

"Alright, since we were born in the same year, let's pray that we can die together in the same year!"

In this way, the two hit it off and became good brothers who depended on each other for life and death.

In the next few days, the two of them were as close as a pair of pants, eating at the same table, sleeping on the same bed, inseparable, and as close as brothers.

Yuan Wencai also personally escorted Wang Zuo back to Ciping, helped him kill those bad guys, and allowed him to regain control of the security team.

From then on, the two men echoed and supported each other in Maoping and Ciping, and basically took control of the entire Jinggangshan.

In 1926, Rabbit Party members Long Chaoqing and Liu Huixiao returned to their hometown Ninggang like two shining stars to mobilize the masses.

As soon as the two men went up the mountain, they became brothers with Yuan Wencai.

Yuan Wencai was also a straightforward person. He led his troops down the mountain and nominally accepted the "amnesty" to become the head of the security team. In fact, he had his own plans in mind. When the time came, he would become the backbone of the peasant uprising and make a big move.

In September of the same year, Long, Liu and Yuan successfully launched an armed uprising and established the Ninggang revolutionary regime.

Yuan Wencai was on high spirits and served as the military minister of the county people's committee and the commander of the peasant self-defense corps. Not long after, he joined the Longguo Rabbit Party.

When the news reached Ciping, Wang Zuo's eyes turned green with envy, like a greedy cat:

"Oh, Brother Yuan is so impressive! I can't fall behind!"

In January 1927, the Party sent Wang Wenzheng to talk to Wang Zuo. Wang Zuo, upon hearing this, immediately made the decision, like a decisive general:

"Okay, reorganize my team into the Suichuan County Peasant Self-Defense Army, and I'll be the commander!"

From then on, these two revolutionary armed forces became active in the Jinggangshan area like two cheerful little birds, and it was so lively!

Even though the April 60th counter-revolutionary coup took place later, and the party organizations and peasant armed forces in the border counties scattered like fallen leaves, they still preserved a revolutionary armed force of guns in Jinggangshan. This was really not easy, just like a small flame holding on in the strong wind!

In July 1927, Long Chaoqing and other comrades organized three peasant self-defense forces, namely Wang Zuo, Yuan Wencai and Wang Xinya, to prepare to attack Yongxin County.

Before setting off, Yuan Wencai waved his knife and shouted loudly:

"Brothers, today we have to rescue those imprisoned comrades and the masses and let the reactionaries know how powerful we are!"

Wang Zuo also shouted at the top of his voice:

"Yes, let them see how hard our fists are!"

Zhao Shao's heart was in turmoil, as if he had a little rabbit in his arms, and he followed the team and set off.

Everyone talked and laughed along the way.

"Hey, this time we're sure to win a resounding victory and defeat the enemy!"

"Of course we do. We are the army of justice. The enemy will be scared to death when they see us!"

Arriving at Yongxin County, Yuan Wencai gave the order:

"Come on!"

The peasant self-defense forces rushed towards the county town like a raging flood.

The enemies in the city were frightened by this momentum.

"Why are there so many people here? It's like heavenly soldiers and generals have descended to earth!"

"Never mind, run! If you don't run now, you'll lose your life!"
