Think about the reforms of Shang Yang, Wu Qi, Shen Buhai, and Wang Anshi. The reason why their reforms failed was that they touched the fundamental interests of the ruling class.

If you touch upon their fundamental interests, they will certainly attack you like mad dogs. That’s why Shang Yang and Wu Qi even lost their lives!”
