Three Kingdoms: Domination of the World
Chapter 307: Capture of Yanzhou
In Yanzhou, Dongjun. Suo Chao stood before him a 30-strong army, flanked by three generals: Chen Huan, commander of the left wing; Zhen Jiang, commander of the center wing; and She Jian, commander of the right wing.
The three armies have complete arms and neat military appearance, including slingers, musketeers, artillerymen, heavy cavalry, light cavalry, spearmen and sword and shield soldiers.
"General Chen Huan, listen to my orders. You will lead the 6 troops on the left wing and cooperate with Zhou Bo's army to attack Shanyang County together." Suo Chao's voice was like thunder.
"Yes!" Second Madam Chen Huan bowed and took the order and left.
"General Zhen Jiang, listen to my orders. You lead the 8-man central army to attack Rencheng County." Suo Chao said with a stern face.
"I obey your command!" Seventh Madam Zhen Jiang accepted the military order and personally went to command the central army.
"General Shejian, you lead the right wing army of 8 to attack Taishan County." Suo Chao was affectionate and sincere, and had great expectations for this Qin general who would fight to the death and never surrender.
"I obey your command!" Shejian looked excited. This was his first battle to conquer the world.
In order to stop Cao Cao and Wei Qing's army from sending reinforcements, Suo Chao personally led 8 troops and set up camp in Dongjun.
......
Ten days later, Rencheng.
A bloody sunset shone above the city walls, and Dian Wei's twin halberds gleamed blood in the twilight. He stepped on the corpses of three Aboriginal Australian soldiers, and dark brown blood scabs formed on his bronze breastplate.
Thirty feet away, Zhen Jiang's silver armor shone with a cold luster in the moonlight. The carved sandalwood bow in her hand had been pulled into a full moon, and three poisoned bone-piercing nails were placed on the bowstring.
Chen Huan's army assisted Zhou Bo's army and captured Shanyang County early. She then turned her army eastward and joined forces with her seventh sister Zhen Jiang's army to encircle Rencheng.
"General Dian, your food supply has been cut off by the Japanese navy. Surrender now and you can still protect the people of Rencheng." Chen Huan rode a Ferghana horse around the city wall, the nine-section whip hanging from her waist dragging sparks on the ground.
Xun Yu stood in the shadow of the arrow tower, his fingertips gently stroking the jade pendant at his waist. He watched Suo Chao's army swarming like ants below the city walls, and suddenly noticed the faint sight of artillery and catapults in the enemy's formation.
"Mr. Wenruo, look at those cannons. They seem to be forged from fine steel." Cao Ang held the sword at his waist, his young face flickering in the firelight.
Xun Yu narrowed his eyes, observing carefully in the moonlight. Sure enough, the cannons on the chariots glowed a cold, bluish-gray hue, clearly forged using the new forging technology Suo Chao had brought with him. He was secretly alarmed, knowing that Cao Cao's artillery was incapable of destroying such steel chariots.
"Sir, quickly dispatch five hundred warriors carrying kerosene cans to attack the enemy chariots at night. As long as we destroy their artillery, we won't have to worry about them anymore," Xun Yu suddenly turned to Cao Ang and said.
Cao Ang nodded and was about to issue an order when he saw countless torches suddenly light up below the city. Zhen Jiang rode a black warhorse and slowly approached, holding a silver sword and shouting angrily.
"Cao Zixiu, your father has been attacking Jinyang for a long time but has been unsuccessful. He wanted to return to the capital to provide support, but was stopped by my husband in Dongjun. Now there are no reinforcements in Yanzhou." Zhen Jiang's voice echoed in the night sky like a huge bell.
"I'll give you three hours to think about it. Do you want to fight to the death, or give the people of Rencheng a chance to live?"
Dian Wei suddenly burst into laughter, the sound resounding throughout the field. He slammed his halberds to the ground, sending the surrounding soldiers stumbling.
"Shameless woman, stop your sweet talk! If you have the guts, come to the city and let me, Old Dian, learn your Yue Girl Swordsmanship!"
Zhen Jiang's bowstring suddenly made a crisp sound, and three bone-piercing nails flew through the air.
Dian Wei instinctively dodged, only to see three spikes launched towards his throat, heart, and lower abdomen. He roared, his twin halberds dancing like an iron curtain, knocking all the bone-piercing spikes away. But the last spike still grazed his left arm, leaving a deep wound that exposed the bone.
"Great archery! Come again!" Dian Wei licked the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes flashing with excitement.
Chen Huan suddenly spurred her horse towards the moat, her nine-section whip wielding a snake like a snake emerging from its lair, entangling the drawbridge chains atop the city walls. Dozens of Japanese soldiers immediately rushed forward, cutting the chains with specially crafted hacksaws.
Seeing this, Dian Wei picked up a corpse and smashed it down, but the soldiers did not dodge and blocked the attack with their bodies.
"These soldiers...don't they want to die?" Cao Ang stared at the scene in amazement.
Xun Yu noticed that the soldiers' eyes were unusually dull, as if they were being controlled by something. He was startled, and suddenly remembered that Guo Jia had mentioned that Suo Chao had the Qin Rui soldiers who could turn life and death around.
"Oh no! They're manipulating the death squad to attack the city! Use rockets!" Xun Yu shouted.
Cao's soldiers immediately ignited their rockets, raining them down upon the city walls. After being struck by the rockets, the Qin Rui soldiers suddenly erupted in strange green flames, letting out wailing cries. Seeing the situation dire, Chen Huan quickly sheathed his nine-section whip and rode away.
At the same time, the artillery corps launched an attack. Hundreds of cannons fired simultaneously, and the walls of Rencheng were shattered into pieces.
Just as Cao's army was at their wit's end, a sudden commotion erupted from below. Dozens of Australian soldiers rushed over, carrying a massive siege tower covered in thick cowhide, apparently to prevent fire. The catapults atop the tower began firing incendiary bombs, and the city walls were instantly engulfed in flames.
"Quick! Use the crossbow!" Dian Wei roared, turning the capstan himself.
The huge crossbow roared deafeningly, and a crossbow arrow as thick as a bowl pierced through the air, piercing a siege tower. But the other siege towers were still approaching, and the catapults on the top of the towers kept firing incendiary bombs, causing heavy casualties among the Cao army soldiers on the city walls.
"Sir, I'm afraid the city defenses can't hold. It's better to retreat temporarily and conserve our strength." Xun Yu wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
Cao Ang shook his head and said:
"Mr. Wenruo, before leaving, my father told me to hold on to Yanzhou. If I abandon the city and flee, how can I face my father?"
Dian Wei suddenly slammed his double halberds to the ground, causing the surrounding soldiers to stumble.
"Don't worry, sir. With me here, I will make sure those thieves never come back!"
The city wall collapsed. Chen Huan and Zhen Jiang's army launched a charge against Cao's army.
"Soldiers! Charge!" Chen Huan led the troops to charge.
"Kill!" Dian Wei roared, his twin halberds dancing like an iron curtain, sweeping away all the incoming enemy troops. But Chen Huan's army continued to surge forward like a tide, and Dian Wei gradually felt overwhelmed.
Seeing this, Cao Ang drew his sword and was about to rush down the city wall, but was held back by Xun Yu:
"Sir, you can't do that! As long as the green mountains remain, there will be no shortage of firewood."
At that moment, a silver light streaked across the night sky. Zhen Jiang's carved sandalwood bow rang out again, sending three bone-piercing nails hurtling through the air. This time, they aimed directly at Cao Ang's throat, heart, and lower abdomen.
"Be careful!" Xun Yu shouted and rushed towards Cao Ang.
Three bone-piercing nails pierced Xun Yu's left shoulder, right chest, and lower abdomen. He groaned and fell into Cao Ang's arms.
"Mr. Wenruo!" Cao Ang cried sadly.
Xun Yu forced a smile:
"Sir... hurry up... choose a day to recapture Yanzhou..."
Suddenly, another bone-piercing nail shot into Xun Yu's forehead. His body fell heavily to the ground, and the jade pendant in his hand shattered into powder.
"No!" Cao Ang was heartbroken. He drew his sword and was about to rush down the city wall, but Dian Wei grabbed him.
"Sir, please leave quickly! I, Lao Dian, will take care of you here!"
Dian Wei pushed Cao Ang towards the secret passage, and turned to charge into the enemy. His double halberds were already bent, and his body was covered with wounds, but he still stood firm like a god of war.
With tears in his eyes, Cao Ang, along with dozens of his personal guards, retreated along the secret passage towards Qingzhou. Behind him, Rencheng was engulfed in flames, and Dian Wei's roar was gradually drowned out by the cries of killing.
Zhen Jiang rode a black warhorse slowly into the city. She looked at the mottled bloodstains on the city wall, and the corners of her mouth rose slightly.
"Seventh sister, this battle is a victory! Your legion has made an indelible contribution." Chen Huan rode over, and a beautiful figure with heroic spirit appeared.
"Second sister, it's really gratifying that you and I can share my husband's worries." Zhen Jiang put away her longbow and looked towards the direction of Dongjun.
"Second sister, the main force of Cao's army has been defeated. Cao Ang fled to Qingzhou with the remaining troops, and Dian Wei was killed by the chaotic army." Zhen Jiang bowed.
Chen Huan nodded:
"Pass the order down, rest for three days, and then march to Qingzhou."
Chen Huan's deputy general suddenly reported:
"General, the bodies of Xun Yu and Dian Wei are missing."
Zhen Jiang sneered: "Don't worry, two dead men can't cause any trouble. Order the entire army to march out at 34:34 AM tomorrow!"
Shejian captured Taishan Commandery, while Suo Chao held off Cao Cao's main force in Dong Commandery. Suo Chao's army seized all of Yanzhou and set its sights on Qingzhou, Xuzhou, and Yuzhou.
