Three Kingdoms: Domination of the World
Chapter 168: Sending troops to Xianbei
The Xianbei were now divided into two factions: Yuwen Tai and Murong Chui. Yuwen Tai took over the Suli and Mijia tribes, commanding an army of 10 cavalrymen. Murong Chui, on the other hand, took over the remaining Xianbei in Mobei, also commanding an army of 10.
Suo Chao's eyes were sharp, and he held the banner tightly in his hand. Behind him, the 150,000-strong army was ready for battle, their morale high. He waved his hand and shouted in a voice like a bell:
"All officers and men, listen up! This time, we will split into three groups and defeat the enemy in one fell swoop!"
Clad in silver armor and wielding a spear, Zhao Yun stood in awe. His expression was resolute, his eyes gleaming with fearlessness. Following his command, the 50,000-strong army behind him surged forward like a raging torrent, charging towards Yuwen Tai's forces. He sat tall and proud on his white warhorse, his heart brimming with determination to crush the enemy, as if any obstacle before him would be easily crushed.
Zhao Chongguo's face was resolute, his eyes gleaming. He led an army of 50,000 men, the clatter of horse hooves echoing like thunder across the grasslands as they advanced towards Murong Chui's forces. He knew the importance of this battle, and every step he took was filled with decisiveness and resolve.
"This is my first battle under the command of the national teacher, and I must not lose." Zhao Chongguo said sternly.
The remaining 50,000 troops were led by Taishi Ci, the governor of Yunzhong Commandery, who joined General Zhao Yun in attacking Yuwen Tai's forces.
"General Zilong, this battle is not easy. We also have to guard against Yuan Shao's army in Jizhou." Taishi Ci turned his head and looked at Zhao Yun, his eyes full of solemnity, and said in a low and worried voice.
Zhao Yun's face was solemn, his silver armor gleaming coldly in the sunlight. He nodded slightly, his gaze firm and deep, as he responded:
"Brother Ziyi is right. The anti-Sob Alliance has not yet disbanded, and we cannot be careless." His thoughts were churning in his mind, and he was well aware of the difficulty and danger of this battle.
With the three armies deployed, Suo Chao once again deployed his double, accompanying Zhao Chongguo and his military advisor Zheng Hewen in attacking Murong Chui's forces. Meanwhile, his true form had already activated its magical powers, hiding during the day and emerging at night to launch a surprise attack on the grasslands.
To counter the threat from Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan's armies, Suo Chao ordered Chen Tang to lead 4 troops from various counties to garrison Yunzhong County. He also sent letters to inform Yan Xiang of Yanmen County, Yan Yu, the prefect of Taiyuan County, Huang Zhong, the prefect of Xihe County, and Yan Yan, the prefect of Shangdang County.
"The Northern Expedition to the Xianbei is not easy and may take a long time. I hope you will guard the border well and don't give the anti-Suo alliance any opportunity to take advantage." Suo Chao warned in the letter.
Compared with the troops from Ma Chao, Ma Teng and Pang De in the three counties, Suo Chao was not worried about General Ran Min stationed in Hongnong County.
To be on the safe side, Suo Chao ordered Ran Min to restrain the three armies and refrain from reckless attacks, focusing on defending the fortresses in the counties. At the same time, he wrote a letter to his adoptive father, Sun Jian, hoping that Sun Jian would send troops to contain the armies of Liu Yan, Liu Biao, and Cao Cao.
......
The General Zhengbei issued a manifesto to attack the Xianbei, which won the righteousness of the world and was applauded by the people of the Han Dynasty.
"The people of the Han Dynasty have risen to arms, determined to defeat the enemy! The Xianbei tribes, with their wicked ambitions, have repeatedly invaded our borders, killing our people and looting our property. Their crimes are heinous and cannot be tolerated by heaven and earth!
"Those barbarians, like jackals, have no sense of propriety or righteousness, and respect no kingly way. They invade our territory like locusts, leaving farmland barren and our people displaced. Their chieftain, Tan Shihuai, persists in his evil ways and seeks to dominate the grasslands while threatening the Central Plains."
Today, our great Han army, with high morale, points its sword at the Xianbei. We must drive these barbarians from the borderlands and restore peace to our land! Soldiers, be brave and fearless, defeat the enemy and kill the bandits, achieving unparalleled feats.
All the people of the Han Dynasty should unite against this enemy and resist foreign aggression. Anyone who can decapitate the Xianbei will be rewarded handsomely and granted nobility! I implore all heroes and nobles to join us in this righteous cause, defeat the Xianbei, defend the dignity of the Han Dynasty, and protect the peace of our people!
This proclamation should spread far and wide, and everyone should know that anyone who offends the Han Dynasty will be punished, no matter how far away they are!
The other princes were wary and didn't dare risk the wrath of the world by attacking Suo Chao first, which was against morality. As for attacking the Xianbei together, that was impossible. It was good enough not to add insult to injury.
......
After months of arduous marching, Zhao Chongguo's army finally faced Murong Chui's army a hundred miles away. Suo Chao's double sat solemnly in the center of the tent, his expression grim. Standing to his left and right were General Zhao Chongguo and his military advisor, Zheng Hewen.
"Military Advisor, our army has only 5 soldiers. Murong Chui has 10 cavalrymen. The disparity in strength between the enemy and us is huge!" Suo Chao's stand-in frowned, rubbing his hands unconsciously, and asked Zheng Hewen for advice.
"Master Imperial Master, as long as we hold on to our own camp and contain Murong Chui's army, there won't be any big problems." Zheng Hewen said calmly, with a firm gaze and a steady tone.
"Oh, I wonder what brilliant plan the Imperial Master has?" Zhao Chongguo, who was standing by, immediately showed great interest in his eyes when he heard this. He leaned forward slightly and asked eagerly.
"General Zhao, please set up a large number of tripwires, horse traps, and flaming oil traps around the camp." Zheng Hewen had a serious expression and gave instructions carefully while gesturing with his hands.
"Okay, military advisor, please rest assured." Zhao Chongguo clasped his fists and accepted the order.
Zheng Hewen described the strategic plan of this battle in detail to everyone:
"The key to this battle is to delay Murong Chui, then find an opportunity to launch a surprise attack and burn the Xianbei army's food supplies. This will put them in a difficult position."
Then, Zheng Hewen introduced the situation on two other fronts:
"Zhao Yun and Taishi Ci's two armies are besieging Yuwen Tai's forces. They will be the main force in the assault and will engage Yuwen Tai head-on. Our opportunity to fight will come after we defeat Yuwen Tai."
Upon hearing this plan, the generals were thrilled. They all expressed their willingness to follow the military advisor's instructions and looked forward to the upcoming battle. Zheng Hewen also encouraged everyone to unite and fight for victory.
