Global Weirdness: People Survive in Ultra

Chapter 116: The Emerging Pool

The small stone city was deserted.

As the last camp of the Victorians who stayed underground, the city was filled with a large number of wounded and sick soldiers who had retreated from the battlefield.

In such an atmosphere, one's mood is inevitably heavy.

Walking along the way, Meng Yao and Dagu could only see expressionless faces, and occasionally hear the wailing of the seriously injured.

The elder from the inner room was leading the way. He was originally in a good mood, but now he was silent, taking small and slow steps.

"Hello, Grandpa Elder."

A childish voice sounded beside them, bringing the three dejected people back to their senses. The elder in the inner room looked down and saw a child carrying a wicker basket on his back.

He touched the child's head and said, "So you are the child of the Hara Kari family. Is your father's injury okay?"

The child nodded and said, "It's okay, it's okay. I've rested for several days, Elder. I'm going out to find something to eat today."

The child twisted his shoulders and showed what was in the wicker basket on his back, which was some seaweed, shells and the like.

The elder in the inner room took a quick look, frowned, and asked the child, "The camp should be located away from the sea. Where did you find these things?"

The child recalled: "There was a pond in the cracks of the rocks just outside the camp. A lot of edible things washed up in it."

The child pointed in a direction, and the elder in the inner room noted the location. Then he patted his butt kindly and said, "Go back quickly, little brat. Don't run around anymore."

The child twisted his body and covered the place where he was hit: "Oh, I know. Goodbye, Grandpa Elder."

As he watched the child go away, the smile on the elder's face disappeared.

"The sea is rising again?"

Meng Yao knew what the elder in the inner room was worried about: "It seems that the underwater people still haven't given up."

The elder shook his head: "It doesn't matter. It's only a matter of time before this underground area is flooded."

"After all, the sea eye is pouring out seawater all the time."

The elder in the inner room looked in the direction the child had pointed, looking thoughtful. Then he asked Meng Yao, "Come with me to take a look over there?"

Meng Yao agreed, and the three of them left the city.

The underground space was limited, and it took only a few minutes to find the pond the child mentioned.

It was a pool of water only a few square meters in size sandwiched between the mountains. The water was dark and clear, but the bottom was invisible.

The elder in the inner room bent down and casually moved the water, and saw some sea fish and shells churning around.

"There are quite a lot of fish."

The elder in the inner room smiled bitterly and then stood up: "Has the sea water risen to this level?"

Dagu comforted him: "It's okay, I'm still here."

Elder Satoma nodded in response, "Let's continue to the defense line. They should still be dealing with Akira's body."

After retreating from the crevice in the mountain, they turned another corner and came to the defense line. People were coming in and out of the crystal tent. Almost all the Victorians who were still capable of fighting were here.

Not far away, the underground sacred beast Shepparton was curled up in a ball and resting.

Meng Yao looked at the camp from afar: "Everyone is here, won't the rear be defended and empty?"

The elder from the inner room was leading the way. He replied, "The construction of the stone city was very particular. That place is almost the end of the underground space."

"Unless the enemy can squeeze out from the cracks in the mountain."

The elder in the inner room was not a fool, he immediately realized something.

He walked quickly into the camp, not caring about the greetings of those around him, and shouted, "Hurry up and let the other elders come to see me!!!"

Everyone in the camp looked at each other in bewilderment. Those who had been happily transporting the meat stopped. A young man asked, "Elder in the inner room, what happened? The other elders are still resting."

"It took too much energy to hold up the shield just now."

The elder in the inner room paused after hearing this explanation. He waved his hand slightly in annoyance and said, "Then just pass on my order and send half of the troops back to Stone City to find those pools."

"Whenever we find one, we leave two people to watch and observe."

The young man hesitated slightly: "But here at the defense line..."

The elder in the inner room's eyes narrowed. He naturally knew the importance of the defense line, but if what Meng Yao said was true, then the so-called defense line would instantly become a joke.

In an instant it became a sieve with air leaking everywhere!

"How's it going at the Sea Eye?"

Another person replied, "The waiter observed that the sea eye was calm and no movement from the underwater people was seen."

The elder in the inner room thought to himself that this was not good, but he was also somewhat relieved. He then gave the order: "That's right, hurry back, the next wave of underwater people may come from somewhere else."

"It's no use guarding here!"

"Everyone, go back and pass on my order. The defense line will be moved back three miles!"

The faces of the soldiers who were serving just now changed. They also knew about the ponds in the crevices of the mountains.

The ground was flooded by sea water and food was scarce. Who had not gone to those ponds to catch fish?

The order from the inner elder was passed down, and soon most of the people on the defense line began to retreat.

Only the people left were left to deal with the monster Akira.

Meng Yao did not interrupt from beginning to end. It would be better to leave this matter to the elders in the inner room.

After issuing a series of orders, the elder from the inner room came to Meng Yao with a slightly apologetic look on his face and said, "I'm sorry to have made you two laugh."

"I'm old, and my brain isn't as sharp as you young people."

Meng Yao smiled. The lifespan of the Victorians was different from that of humans, and the power class was very rigid, so mistakes were inevitable in some decisions.

He didn't care about that and turned to look at Akira's body that was blown into pieces by Daigu.

The metal parts on it are being recycled and recast, and most of the remaining corpses are given to the sacred beast Shepatton to replenish its strength.

Then remove the poisonous part.

There wasn't actually much edible meat left for them.

The elder in the inner room led the way and pointed to the stone cart beside him: "I knew you wanted to come and see, so I asked them to put all the meat here first."

Although he didn't understand, the elders in the inner room had no choice but to do as they were told.

Meng Yao looked at the bright red meat piled on the stone carts. He smelled it and found it had a peculiar smell of stone.

Then he shook his head: "Don't delay the transportation of food because of me. There are so many wounded in the city, let's transport them back first."

Meng Yao looked around, searching for something: "Where are those dismantled metal parts and Akira's head?"

"The metal parts are still there."

The elder in the inner room pointed to the side and said: "As for the head, there is not much meat on it, but the energy inside is useful to the sacred beast."

"It should be placed with the sacred beast."

Meng Yao looked up at Shepparton, which had shrunk into a small hill. The crystal on its back was emitting a bright blue light.
