Quick Travel: Destiny for Thirty Lifetimes
Chapter 33: The Princess Can Do Anything (10)
Wen Yuechen didn't come out of the study until dinner time. Both of them had their own thoughts and were silent at the dinner table, neither noticing anything wrong with the other.
When it was time to go to bed, both of them were lying in bed, neither of them feeling sleepy. Wen Yuechen unconsciously turned sideways to face Lian Qingyang and held his hand, only to realize that the other person was awake.
He didn't look panicked, and asked with concern: "Why aren't you sleeping?"
Lian Qingyang didn't break free from the hand being held, and instead squeezed closer to Wen Yuechen, asking back, "You've been in the study for a long time today. Are you feeling well?"
Wen Yuechen felt warmed by the concern, and the depression he had felt after reading the news in the study that afternoon dissipated a lot. Noticing a body pressing towards him, he reached out and pulled her into his arms, saying, "Fortunately, I've been taking my medicine on time these past few days, and I've regained my strength. Sitting for a long time isn't a problem for me."
Feeling that Wen Yuechen truly accepted him, Lian Qingyang didn't hesitate and let him hold him openly: "Did something happen? You don't seem very happy."
"There is indeed one thing that worries me, but you don't need to worry. Take good care of yourself during this period. You look thinner than me." I can even feel the bones of the person in my arms. If he didn't get enough nutrition when he was young, it would be difficult for him to gain weight when he grows up.
Lian Qingyang curled his lips, knowing that Wen Yuechen had probably received a lot of information, so he didn't ask any more questions. Feeling the warmth all around him, he slowly felt sleepy and soon closed his eyes and fell asleep.
The day of going out soon arrived. Lian Qingyang did not tell Wen Yuechen what he was going to do. He only informed the housekeeper when he left and said he would be back later.
Mother Li led Lian Qingyang through many twists and turns into an alley, knocked on an inconspicuous door several times in a regular pattern, and waited for the door to open before bringing him in.
Lian Qingyang didn't have time to take in the scene in the yard. He walked into the main room and glanced at the people sitting together. When they heard the noise, they quickly raised their heads and looked towards the door. Lian Qingyang noticed that they were either excited or nervous, and nodded slightly and said his name.
"Greetings, young master!" After Lian Qingyang said his name, the people in front of him stood up and saluted him.
Lian Qingyang waved his hand, signaling them to return to their seats. He sat down as well, then turned to look at Protector Li, who had recovered himself, and asked in a deep voice, "Is this the original site of Qingyun Pavilion?"
Li Hufa shook his head and replied, "Young Master, this is just one of the secret places where Qingyun Pavilion used to conduct secret transactions in the capital. Although the original site of Qingyun Pavilion has not been occupied by other forces, it has been abandoned for a long time. Once it is cleaned and tidied up, Young Master can return to the pavilion."
Lian Qingyang pondered for a moment, then shook his head and said, "Qingyun Pavilion can be rebuilt, but it can only serve as a branch base. As for the headquarters, I will find a place later. However, I will still declare the original site as my residence."
He wasn't afraid of being hunted down by others after they found out, but rather wanted to get his way under the emperor's nose. As the saying goes, wealth and honor come with risk, and the most dangerous place is the safest place, so he decided to establish his headquarters in the capital. He also needed to discuss this matter with Wen Yuechen, as it would be more convenient to use him.
After making up his mind, Lian Qingyang talked with a few more people and learned that they were all people who had been saved by Lian's father and mother. He felt even better about the two people he had never met before. If they were still alive, he probably would have had a very good life.
On the surface, he loathes his parents and wishes he were an orphan forever, but deep down, he still morbidly craves their love, something he's never felt before and desperately desires yet refuses to experience. If he were born into a loving, happy family, would he be different?
Lian Qingyang stopped his wandering thoughts and chuckled at his own delusions. He said goodbye to the others, agreed on a time and place to meet up later, and then prepared to leave with Li Hufa. They had to get home before lunch.
As soon as he stepped out of the courtyard, Lian Qingyang sensed the presence of another person. He exchanged glances with Guardian Li and called out in a low voice, "Ying Er."
Ying Er hesitated for a moment before suddenly appearing, kneeling before Lian Qingyang without saying a word. Young Master Lian hadn't asked him to follow him when he left, but not long after, the prince summoned him and told him to follow him. It wasn't that he wanted to know Young Master Lian's secrets, but rather to be on guard against sneak attacks from those within the palace. He hadn't expected the two to be so defensive, and they'd already come out just as he'd finally found the place.
Lian Qingyang looked down at Ying Er for a long time without saying anything. He waved his hand and asked him to hide, then hurried back to the mansion with Protector Li.
When he arrived at the house, the meal was just being served. Lian Qingyang was puzzled for a moment because the meal was earlier than usual today. He felt that there was something else behind Wen Yuechen's smile. As soon as he sat down, Wen Yuechen picked up a piece of food with chopsticks and put it into his bowl. As luck would have it, the piece of food on the chopsticks was celery.
This was the first time he had seen celery on the dinner table since he came to this world. He had never told Wen Yuechen that he hated celery. Even Qingyang, holding the chopsticks, didn't know whether he should put the food into his mouth.
Wen Yuechen chewed and swallowed the food in his mouth, then turned his head to look at him stiffly for a long moment before speaking: "What's the matter? Is today's meal not to your taste? Why doesn't Qingyang eat?"
Seeing Wen Yuechen's half-smile, how could Lian Qingyang not know that he was angry? He didn't know what to say now. He lowered his head, picked up a piece of celery, and slowly put it into his mouth. Before he could put it in his mouth, he was stopped by a pair of chopsticks.
Wen Yuechen put the celery back into his own bowl in a bad mood, and put a piece of fish with the bones picked out into Lian Qingyang's bowl, and started to eat in silence. He didn't know what he was angry about. Qingyang only took Mother Li with him and didn't even bring the secret guards. He also looked mysterious. Qingyang had a secret from him and didn't tell him.
Lian Qingyang ate the fish in his bowl with amusement, nudged the person next to him with his elbow, and said, "Come to your study after dinner. I have something to talk to you about."
Wen Yuechen suppressed his inner joy and nodded reservedly.
After dinner, the two of them sat in the recliners and basked in the sun for a long time. They dozed off for nearly two quarters of an hour before getting up and going to the study. Lian Qingyang stretched lazily and sat down opposite Wen Yuechen's desk.
Without waving away Shadow One and Shadow Two, Guardian Li was guarding outside. Lian Qingyang told Wen Yuechen his life story and future plans without reservation. He spoke until his mouth was dry, so he picked up a cup of tea. Wen Yuechen didn't say anything after listening, but sat there with a frown, not knowing what he was thinking.
There were voices outside. Lian Qingyang stood up and walked to the door. He opened it and saw Li Hufa talking to a servant. He asked, "What's going on?"
The servant knelt down and saluted, then said, "Sir, someone is looking for you outside."
Lian Qingyang turned and looked at Wen Yuechen, his expression full of inquiry. He didn't have many friends in this world, so he was looking for Wen Yuechen. Unexpectedly, Wen Yuechen also looked puzzled. He stood up and walked towards Lian Qingyang, asking him, "Looking for you?"
Lian Qingyang shook his head and said, "I don't know. Let's go check it out." Then he looked at the servant who came to convey the message and said, "Take the guest to the front hall. We'll be there soon."
Logically speaking, as a servant in the prince's mansion, he should know most of the famous people in the capital, but the servant never said who he was, and ordinary people would not come here, so he probably couldn't be from the capital.
Lian Qingyang was fine, as he had just gone out and was dressed appropriately. Wen Yuechen was only wearing an inner lining with a coat on the outside, so he had to let Lian Qingyang go first while he changed his clothes and came later.
