Quick Travel: Destiny for Thirty Lifetimes

Chapter 131: The General’s Pet (12)

The car quickly arrived at the laboratory. Pei Sichen saw Lian Qingyang standing at the door, staring at the ground in a daze. Lian Qingyang seemed to have noticed something, and when he looked up, he saw him. He walked over with his hands in his pockets and got into the car.

Pei Sichen set the destination and let the car automatically drive back to his residence. He then sat down next to Lian Qingyang. Seeing that he was lightly dressed, he handed him the coat he had brought and said, "Why are you wearing so little? The temperature difference between day and night is quite large now. It will be cold at night, so it would be better to bring an extra coat."

Lian Qingyang took the coat and put it on obediently. Pei Sichen turned sideways and expertly zipped it up for him, even putting on his hood. He was wrapped up tightly in the baggy clothes, which made him look like a child wearing adult clothes. Pei Sichen stepped back slightly and, seeing him like this, curled his lips and teased, "You really can't tell you're only half a head shorter than me."

Lian Qingyang looked up at him and snorted to express his dissatisfaction with this sentence. Pei Sichen couldn't help but pinch the delicate face under the hat. As expected, he was waved away by a sleeve. He didn't get angry, but just enjoyed this pleasant moment with a smile on his face.

Outside the window, hovercars came and went, carrying different people to different destinations. Pei Sichen tilted his head to look out the window, and for the first time, he wished the journey home would be longer.

The car stopped at the door, and Lian Qingyang got out first. He paused at the door, took out the takeaway food that was placed in the thermal cabinet next to the door, and turned back to look at the person who was a step behind him: "Haven't you had dinner yet?"

Pei Sichen picked up the takeout bag and walked in from behind, supporting Lian Qingyang. He lowered his head to change his shoes while explaining, "I didn't eat much tonight and I'm getting hungry quickly. I thought you might be hungry too, so I ordered a little more. You've been tired all day, so you should eat something to fill your stomach."

Lian Qingyang was as comfortable as if he was at home. He took off his coat and put it on the sofa, then followed Pei Sichen in slippers. He walked to the dining table and sat down. He supported his head with one hand and watched Pei Sichen take out the food and put it on the table.

Lian Qingyang's eyes brightened every time he brought out a dish. Pei Sichen ordered three dishes, each of which was his favorite. In addition, there were two servings of rice and a bowl of soup. The portion of each dish was not too big, enough for them to eat half full.

The next day, when Lian Qingyang woke up, the house was very quiet. After washing up, he opened the door of the guest room and walked into the living room, only to find that Pei Sichen had already gone out. Before leaving, he bought him breakfast so that he could eat it when he woke up.

Lian Qingyang's mind was not fully clear after he got up. He stared at a person with a dull expression chewing the food in his mouth. The light brain on his wrist vibrated and a video request popped up. Lian Qingyang put the soup dumpling held by chopsticks into his mouth and connected the video.

In the picture, Brother Lian was sitting at the dining table, drinking coffee. When he saw him answer the phone, he looked at the environment behind him and said firmly, "This isn't your house, is it? Why haven't you gone to the lab today?"

Lian Qingyang swallowed the food in his mouth, his voice still hoarse from just waking up: "Brother, you installed a locator for me, right? You clearly know where I am now."

Upon hearing this, Brother Lian leaned back in his chair, crossed his hands on the table, frowned, and scolded, "What did I tell you in the study before? I told you to have less contact with the Pei family kid in the future, but you agreed so readily, and within two days you ran off to his house."

"Pei Sichen has no bad habits and isn't even married yet, so why can't I associate with him? Big brother, you're really making a fuss out of nothing."

Brother Lian let out a long sigh and spoke in a calm voice, "I'm not calling you to scold you. The Lian family doesn't need you to worry too much, but you're not a child anymore. My parents called me yesterday and they don't want you to go through with the marriage arrangement, but there are a few suitable candidates you should take a look at. I've looked at their profiles, and they're all very good girls."

Lian Qingyang felt that something was wrong and interrupted his elder brother: "Brother, I don't like girls, don't bother with that."

Brother Lian paused for a moment, looking at him with complicated eyes, his tone still calm: "I've also met a few good boys here. I'll give you their contact information later, and you can try to contact them."

"Brother, I..."

"Okay, I'm busy here. If you have anything, send me a message." Brother Lian cut off the video before he finished speaking, fearing that he would say something crazy.

Lian Qingyang looked at the bunch of contact information pushed in the message box of Brother Lian, and drank the milk in the cup in one gulp with melancholy.

When Pei Sichen went to meet the Star Lord this morning, he was in the middle of a video conference, asking about the situation in various places. The noise was giving him a headache, but his expression improved when he saw Pei Sichen. The meeting was now drawing to a close, and the Star Lord impatiently interrupted the managers who were arguing passionately: "If you want to argue, do it privately. There's nothing to argue about when something has been decided. If this situation persists, you can take your place."

After saying that, he ended the meeting, softened his expression and looked at the newcomer, with a friendly tone: "Si Chen, why did you come to see me so early in the morning?"

Pei Sichen bowed and reported: "Star Lord, I would like to make a request, and I hope Star Lord will agree."

"Hmm? What's the matter that makes you come to me so early in the morning? Just tell me." The Star Lord changed his sitting position and spoke with a puzzled and inquiring look on his face.

Pei Sichen still bowed his head, speaking sincerely, "Everyone knows that the Saik people have been besieged by the Third Legion and forced to retreat to their homeland. But the Saik people's scoundrels are also well known. I'm afraid these scoundrels will forget their wounds and come back to attack us. I only hope that the Star Lord will allow the Third Legion to be stationed on Levijue in a week to protect our homeland from harm."

Levijue is on the same line as Saik and Phifos. It is the small planet where the Third Legion stopped to rest when they returned. The resources on it are quite rich, but the technology is far less developed than that of Phifos, and the conditions are relatively difficult. However, it is indeed a good place to monitor Saik.

The Star Lord looked thoughtful, and even considered Pei Sichen's concerns as he spoke: "As expected of a Pei family member, leading the army to station on another planet means you've given up the chance to inherit the Pei family. Even your father didn't make such a decisive decision. Besides, you can still defend the planet here, so why go to that barren place?"

Pei Sichen bent even lower and spoke calmly, "Because Sichen has something else to ask of you, I am willing to give up the opportunity to inherit the Pei family in exchange for the Star Lord granting Sichen a marriage."

"Oh?" The Star Lord became interested and sat up straight and asked, "Who could make you come to me to propose marriage? Don't force them. If you do that, even if you occupy Saik Planet, I won't agree to your request!"

"Star Lord, it's Lian Qingyang, son of the Lian family." Pei Sichen looked up at the frozen Star Lord and continued, "My feelings for Qingyang are evident to all, and I believe he's also interested in me. However, the relationship between the Pei and Lian families, as well as the position of Patriarch, are obstacles to our being together. I couldn't sleep, tossing and turning, until I came up with this idea. I hope the Star Lord will approve."

The Star Lord restrained his expression of watching melons, and listened to Pei Sichen's sincere speech which was touching with mixed feelings with a confused look on his face.
