Immortals Step into Heaven
Chapter 174 Little Fox
After the little fox came ashore, it was soaked, and its once soft fur was now tightly stuck to its body. Its miserable appearance made people laugh. But it raised its head and looked at Xiao Hei with its grateful eyes, as if to say, "Thank you, my good friend."
After this little episode, they were like sharpened swords, becoming more resilient and continuing to move forward fearlessly. Soon after, a low and terrifying roar like thunder slowly emerged from the woods. The roar was like the roar from hell, terrifying and chilling.
Then, a black bear as huge as a hill slowly emerged from the woods. Its massive body was like a moving fortress, its fur as glossy as black satin, gleaming majestically in the sunlight.
It gazed at Zheng Yuan and the others, its eyes a demonic, murderous gleam, as if they were its prey, ready to be torn to shreds in the next second. Zheng Yuan immediately shielded the little fox and Xiao Hei behind him like a mighty tree, his hand tightly gripping the gleaming, cold-shining Water Ripples Sword, as if it were his last line of defense against danger. The little fox and Xiao Hei also sensed an unprecedented danger. They stopped playing and frolicking as before and clung tightly to Zheng Yuan, their bodies trembling slightly, yet still determinedly prepared for the coming battle.
Zheng Yuan took a deep breath and launched the first attack. He cast a fireball spell, which, brimming with powerful energy, shot towards the black bear like a dazzling sun. The black bear, like a battle-hardened warrior, effortlessly swung its massive, fan-like paw, creating a gust of wind that easily deflected Zheng Yuan's attack like swatting a fly.
Then, like a mad, uncontrolled bear, the black bear lunged at them. Zheng Yuan's reaction was lightning-fast. He dodged the bear's attack with a flicker of his hand, his body gliding like willow catkins in the wind. He then swung his sword back, a flash of cold light piercing the bear's back. The bear roared in pain, its roar angrily like a landslide, and it turned and lunged at Zheng Yuan again like a raging bull.
At this critical moment, Little Fox and Little Black also joined the battle as if their fighting spirit had been ignited. Little Fox unleashed a blazing fire like a flame spirit, which shot towards the black bear's eyes like a burning meteor.
Xiao Hei was like a black lightning, circling behind the black bear. In an instant, a sharp wind blade shot out from its claws. The wind blade had a strong cutting force, and the black bear's arm was cut off like a fragile branch.
The black bear was dazed by their attacks, like a giant beast lost in a maze. Zheng Yuan seized the opportunity, his eyes revealing a resolute and decisive determination. He stabbed the black bear in the vitals with his sword, and the black bear fell to the ground with a thud, its massive body smashing into the ground, raising a cloud of dust like a collapsing mountain.
After Zheng Yuan collected the black bear's corpse, the little fox bit his clothes and dragged him somewhere. Zheng Yuan was puzzled. Seeing this, he asked softly, "Are you taking me there?" The little fox nodded quickly at Zheng Yuan's words.
Although Zheng Yuan was puzzled, seeing the fox's eagerness, he decided to follow it to find out. So, he let the fox tug at his clothes as they weaved through the forest. Xiao Hei followed silently behind, his steps light and steady, each one a soundless one. Only his head, flickering from time to time, and his eyes, gleaming with a faint light, alertly observed the surroundings.
They walked for a long time along a hidden path, the scenery growing increasingly gloomy and mysterious. Sunlight filtered through dense foliage, casting dappled shadows that resembled countless mysterious runes dancing across the ground. But the little fox's pace quickened, as if its destination were within reach. Finally, behind a dense patch of bushes, a hidden cave appeared.
The little fox opened its mouth and excitedly rushed into the cave. Zheng Yuan followed in and saw a strange light flickering inside. Rare and precious herbs grew on the walls. The leaves were translucent, their veins clearly visible, as if flowing with the nectar of life. It turned out that the little fox wanted to lead him to discover this treasure. Zheng Yuan was deeply moved. He gently stroked the little fox's head and said, "You little fellow, you're quite clever."
Just then, Xiao Hei let out a low, warning cry from outside the cave. Like the muffled roar of a war drum, it shattered the brief silence. Zheng Yuan's face darkened, sensing the approach of danger. He quickly left the cave and saw a pack of wolves closing in on them. The wolf king, in the lead, was enormous, his eyes fierce, and his mouth radiated a roar that echoed through the forest, chilling the very air.
Zheng Yuan quickly calmed down. He whispered to Little Fox and Little Black, "Don't be afraid. We'll handle this together." The wolves gradually approached, their eyes gleaming a faint green light in the darkness, like will-o'-the-wisp fire from hell. Their footsteps were light yet deadly, like those of a trained assassin. Zheng Yuan gripped his sword tightly, the blade trembling slightly, as if echoing its master's nervousness. The cold light on the blade flickered, as if expressing its thirst for battle.
The little fox arched its back, its fur standing on end like steel needles. A low growl emanated from its throat. Foxfire flickered in its palms, the dancing flames akin to the burning of its raging soul. Xiao Hei opened his mouth, revealing sharp teeth. Wind elements slowly gathered around him, forming tiny vortexes, ready to attack at any moment. He crouched slightly, like a cheetah about to be released from its cage.
The wolf king launched the attack, leaping at Zheng Yuan like a flash of gray lightning. Its speed was so swift that it sent a whistling sound through the wind. Zheng Yuan dodged to the side, his movements as nimble as a monkey's. He swung his sword at the wolf king, his sword energy whistling like a silver dragon darting through the air. The wolf king nimbly turned in mid-air, dodging the attack with a deft movement. He landed safely and lunged again, even more powerful.
The little fox seized the opportunity and fired its foxfire at the wolves. The fire exploded among the wolves like small fire bombs, burning several wolves and causing them to howl in pain. The sound was long and miserable, echoing through the forest for a long time. Xiao Hei also unleashed his wind blade, which sliced into the wolves like a sharp blade, sending wolf fur flying wherever it passed. For a moment, the wolves were thrown into disarray.
But the wolves were so numerous that they quickly reorganized themselves into several small teams and attacked from different directions.
