Back to the Future 1999: Raining at the Same Time

Chapter 103: First Time, Yearning to Become a Mist Walker

As usual, Oliver ran towards the stadium through the thick fog.

However, today's fog seemed to have life, covering little Oliver's eyes. No matter how hard he tried to clear it away, the scene before him did not change at all.

He didn't even know when he lost his way. Turn after turn, intersection after intersection, things that he had already mastered and believed in by heart unexpectedly betrayed him today.

As he ran, there were more and more unfamiliar smells around him, as if many invisible things were hiding behind the thick fog, ready to jump out at any time and take the boy away.

The initial excitement has completely faded, replaced by loneliness, fear, and terror!

His heart was like a drumstick, beating rhythmically against his blood vessels. In the quiet and unfamiliar fog, he could clearly hear his own heartbeat, one beat after another.

With the last bit of composure left in a child of his age, Oliver forced himself to stop running wildly in fear and stood in the fog, gasping for breath.

Look back...look back!

It’s time to turn back... Dad, Mom, where are you?

Oliver no longer wantonly offered himself to the "fog" before him. Instead, he groped for the glass windows on the roadside and walked carefully through the rising despair.

What moistens the corners of my eyes is mist, definitely not tears!

In the shop window that is usually bathed in sunlight, there are mannequins with beautiful and gorgeous poses, but now, in the darkness created by the thick fog, it looks extremely strange.

Not daring to move his eyes even a little, as if his soul would be sucked away, Oliver moved his steps tremblingly.

It was getting closer and closer. The second "sun" in the sky ahead was hanging high and lighting up, emitting a soothing warm light, which made little Oliver really want to cry.

That was a street light used for warning purposes at the intersection, but in the eyes of this weak child, its appearance was no less than a hungry and cold person suddenly seeing bread and a stove!

He couldn't help but quicken his pace. The smooth glass and the rough brick wall alternately scratched the child's delicate fingertips, making them slightly hot and carrying a burning pain.

Then, just when he was about to get used to the pain, the support at hand suddenly stopped.

"Ok?"

Oliver, who suddenly lost his support, staggered and stood alone and helpless in the thick fog. Fear seized him again and attacked his trembling pupils.

"what!!!!!"

He screamed and ran forward, groping forward with his eyes closed, but fortunately, the hope in his heart did not disappoint him. The street lamp, which was regarded as hope, arrived at the right time, providing a solid support while also dispelling the fear in his heart bit by bit.

As long as you have something to hold on to and rely on, you will be less afraid.

Oliver breathed a sigh of relief and took a few more deep breaths until the moist mist completely soaked his lungs. Then he carefully leaned towards the street...

“Beep!”

The extremely long whistle blew past him. The hurricane stirred up by the car failed to stir up the thick fog, but it swept across the boy's delicate face mercilessly.

He felt his brain freeze the moment the bright light hit his eyes, and then it was torn into pieces by the knife-like noise.

"Go home and feed yourself on a foggy day like this, little one!"

The vulgar words were the final sledgehammer that smashed him hard to the ground.

"Woooooooo..."

After all, he is just a child, and the successive blows have caused his psychological defenses to collapse.

The child's pretended stubbornness shattered into pieces and scattered all over the ground, fading into fragility in the falling tears.

"boom."

A soft sound, as if it was the sound that supported the entire sky, came from above.

"What's wrong, my little man?"

After the umbrella was opened, the father's slightly joking words also fell into the boy's ears.

"Father is here, don't you even open your eyes to see?"

The sobbing had not stopped yet, but the strong-willed Oliver quickly put on his stubborn mask again when he knew his father was coming.

He kept wiping away the tears that still kept falling with his hands, trying to restore the last bit of his child's dignity.

Old Fugo, who knew his little man's character well, naturally didn't care too much. He laughed and stroked the child's head, then said:

"Open your eyes when you're ready. It's dawn."

When the first ray of light hit his dark retina, everything was forgotten in that instant.

The sun was shining, the weather was gentle, and the travelers on the road were riding old bicycles awkwardly, ringing the bells, which made pleasant tinkling sounds.

Three children younger than him ran past, holding toys in their hands and smiling.

Brilliant smiles bloom freely on their faces. Even just one glance can show that they are happy. Even just one glance can melt the viewer's slightly throbbing heart.

"Father……"

"what happened?"

This was probably the most ordinary, yet most beautiful scene he had ever seen since he was born.

The uncontrollable sobbing stopped unconsciously, and he suddenly understood what his father had said to him before.

This is truly a great and glorious job.

"Father."

Oliver spoke again, but this time he seemed more serious.

"Please teach me how to become a 'Mist Walker'!"

"Haha, I told you you'd be interested! Don't slack off during the next training session!"

Even though the thick fog had dissipated, Old Fu Ge still held his son's small hand, stroking it carefully and greedily.

Oliver, on the other hand, looked up at the sun in the sky.

It turns out that the feeling of sunlight falling on your body can be so warm.

Thinking of this, Oliver held his father's broad hand even more tightly.
