Chapter 73 Misunderstanding and Conflict

On a spring afternoon, the sun should have been shining brightly, but a sudden misunderstanding cast a shadow over it. Lei Nuo and Wang Jing, a usually loving couple, were plunged into an unprecedented crisis because of a photograph.

Wang Jing sat on the sofa at home, clutching a photo. In it, Renault and Leah were intimate, like a pair of lovers, and the kissing scene pierced her heart like a sharp knife. Her eyes were filled with disbelief and anger, and her hands trembled slightly from clutching the photo.

"This...how is this possible?" Wang Jing whispered to herself, tears welling up in her eyes, but she tried hard not to let them fall.

The seeds of this misunderstanding were carefully sown by Leah. Using technical means, she manipulated a photo of the two standing side by side, creating this "evidence" that was enough to trigger a storm. Her goal was to separate Renault and Wang Jing, giving herself the opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

Leah sent the photos to Wang Jing, along with a seemingly caring letter, but the words revealed a mixture of provocation and pride. The letter read: "Wang Jing, I know this is hard to accept, but I think you have the right to know the truth. Renault and I... hope you can find your own happiness."

When Renault returned home, he was not greeted by Wang Jing's warm embrace, but by cold questions and that glaring photo.

"Renault, what is this?" Wang Jing's voice trembled. The photo in her hand seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Renault was stunned for a moment, then his face changed drastically. "What...what's going on? Leah and I are just ordinary friends. This photo is..."

"Would ordinary friends kiss?" Wang Jing interrupted him, tears finally streaming down her face. "Renault, tell me, what's going on?"

Renault tried to explain, but Wang Jing's emotions were out of control, and the argument between the two intensified. Every explanation from Renault sounded like a sophistry to Wang Jing, and every question from Wang Jing made Renault feel powerless and desperate.

"Wang Jing, you have to believe me, I really didn't betray you!" Renault's voice was already tearful. He held Wang Jing's hand tightly, trying to make her feel his sincerity.

But Wang Jing could no longer listen to any explanation. She shook off Renault's hand, turned around and ran out, leaving Renault alone in the empty room, facing the misunderstood photo.

Wang Jing rushed out of the house and wandered aimlessly on the street. Her heart was filled with pain and confusion. She didn't know how to face this sudden blow, and she didn't know how to trust Renault.

Renault sat alone on the sofa, thinking over and over again about every moment he had with Wang Jing. His heart was filled with guilt and self-blame. He hated himself for not protecting their relationship, and even more so for not noticing Leah's plot in time.

As night fell, both of them were tormented. Wang Jing stayed at Su Xiaoxiao's house, unable to sleep all night; Lei Nuo sat at home, gazing out the window at the night, his heart filled with endless regret.

It was late at night. Moonlight filtered through the slits in the curtains, spilling into Renault's empty bedroom, adding a touch of chill to the quiet night. Renault sat on the edge of his bed, his brow furrowed, his gaze constantly fixed on the clock on the wall. As the seconds ticked by, his heart sank.

"It's so late, why hasn't Jingjing come back yet?" Renault muttered to himself, feeling a sense of inexplicable unease. He picked up his phone and dialed Wang Jing's number, but the cold busy tone came from the other end.

"Why aren't you answering the phone?" Renault frowned and tried again, but the result was the same. He sighed and decided to send Wang Jing a few more messages, hoping she would see them and reply.

"Jingjing, where are you? Why haven't you come home so late? I'm worried about you." Renault's fingers tapped quickly on the screen, and every word revealed his anxiety and concern.

However, after the message was sent, it fell on deaf ears, with no response. Renault became even more uneasy, and he began to imagine various possible scenarios, each of which frightened him.

"No, Jingjing will be fine," Renault comforted himself, but the fear in his heart grew stronger and stronger. He decided not to wait any longer, stood up, put on his coat, and prepared to go out to look for Wang Jing.

As he stepped out of the house, a gust of cold wind hit him, making him shiver. In the night, the streetlights on both sides of the street emitted a dim light, stretching his figure out. Renault walked quickly, his eyes searching for Wang Jing.

"Jingjing, where are you?" Renault called out in a low voice. His voice echoed in the night sky, but there was no response.

He went to every place Wang Jing might go, but couldn't find her. Renault became more and more anxious, and he began to worry that Wang Jing was in danger.

In order not to make Renault worry, Wang Jing decided to call Renault.

At this moment, Renault's phone suddenly rang. He quickly picked up the call and heard Wang Jing's slightly tearful voice on the other end: "Renault, I... I'm at a friend's house, don't worry."

Hearing Wang Jing's voice, Renault finally felt relieved. He breathed a sigh of relief, but then felt a surge of anger and confusion: "Jingjing, why didn't you answer the phone? Do you know how worried I was about you?"
