Chapter 151 The Warmth of Homecoming

Sunlight filtered through sparse clouds, gently shimmering onto the city streets, adding a touch of warmth to this early winter afternoon. Renault slowly navigated the traffic, the radio playing a gentle melody, a stark contrast to the clamor outside. His eyes were focused and gentle, and he would periodically glance through the rearview mirror toward the backseat, where his wife, Wang Jing, carefully cradled their precious daughter, Lei Xiaoyue.

Xiaoyue, still a nursing baby, was curled up in her mother's arms, sound asleep. A healthy blush graced her cheeks, and her long eyelashes fluttered gently, like two small fans, trembling with each breath. A sweet smile played at the corners of her mouth, as if she were dreaming a beautiful dream. That smile, pure and flawless, like the rising sun, instantly illuminated every corner of the car and warmed the hearts of both Renault and Wang Jing.

"Look how peacefully she sleeps," Renault said softly, his voice filled with fondness and relief. He gently turned down the volume of the radio, fearing to disturb the tranquility.

Hearing this, Wang Jing looked down at Xiaoyue in her arms, her eyes gleaming with maternal love. "Yes, those days in the hospital were truly heartbreaking. Now seeing her like this, I finally feel at ease." There was a subtle tremor in her voice, a sense of relief at having survived a catastrophe and an infinite hope for the future.

Renault nodded, his hands gripping the steering wheel, his gaze growing more determined. "We must take better care of her from now on. We can't let her suffer any more." His tone was filled with determination, as if he was making a promise to Wang Jing and also swearing to himself.

Inside the car, sunlight filtered through the windows, dappling the seats in golden patches. Wang Jing gently adjusted Xiaoyue's position to make her sleep more comfortable. Her fingers gently slid through her daughter's soft hair, her movements so gentle that she seemed afraid to disturb the tranquility. "Xiaoyue, Mommy will always protect you and help you grow up healthy and happy," she silently wished, her eyes gleaming with maternal love.

Renault sensed his wife's emotion. He tilted his head slightly, meeting Wang Jing's gaze through the rearview mirror. They exchanged a smile, their understanding and tacit understanding sufficient for both of them, no words needed. He reached out and gently patted the back of Wang Jing's hand, offering her silent support and comfort.

"Remember what the doctor said. We need to take her for regular checkups and write down all the precautions." Renault's words were serious. He knew very well that as parents, they had a heavy responsibility.

"Yes, I remember it all." Wang Jing responded, her eyes full of determination, "We will work together to give Xiaoyue the best environment for growth."

As the car moved along, the scenery outside the window constantly changed, but the atmosphere inside remained warm and peaceful. Xiaoyue's breathing was even and steady, and she occasionally uttered soft mumblings, as if she were playing with some cute little animal in her dream. Wang Jing listened to her daughter's voice, and a gentle smile curved her lips. She hummed a children's song softly, the melody so gentle and melodious that it seemed to dispel all fatigue and worry.

Listening to his wife's song, Renault felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He recalled Xiaoyue's birth, a wrinkled little girl then, yet now so adorable. Time had flown by, and in the blink of an eye, they had already been through so much together. He secretly resolved that no matter what difficulties the future held, he and his family would face them together, safeguarding this hard-earned happiness.

"Jing, thank you." Renault suddenly spoke, his voice full of gratitude, "Thank you for giving me such a wonderful home."

Wang Jing looked up, her eyes sparkling with surprise and emotion. "Silly, this is the home I want too," she whispered, her eyes gleaming with happiness. "With you and Xiaoyue here, this is my happiest moment."

As the car continued to roll forward, the scenery outside the window gradually became familiar. It was where they had lived together, the haven of their love. Renault slowly parked the car at the doorstep and turned off the engine. Inside, the family of three quietly savored this rare tranquility, as if the whole world had stopped.

"We're home, Xiaoyue. Wake up and take a look at your new home," Wang Jing called softly, her voice filled with tenderness and anticipation. Xiaoyue seemed to sense her mother's call and slowly opened her eyes, her clear eyes gleaming with curiosity and excitement.

"Meow~" A soft cat's meow suddenly sounded. It turned out that the cat at home had run to the car door at some point and was looking at everything inside the car curiously with its round eyes.

"Look, even the kitten comes to welcome us." Renault said with a smile. He opened the car door, got out first, then went around to the back seat and opened the door for Wang Jing and Xiaoyue.

Wang Jing carefully walked out of the car, holding Xiaoyue in her arms, feeling the warm winter sunshine. Xiaoyue looked around excitedly in her arms, waving her little hands as if trying to catch the dancing light in the air.

"Welcome home, Xiaoyue." Renault stood aside and said to his daughter gently, his eyes full of love and hope.

Xiaoyue seemed to be infected by this happiness as well. She giggled. Her laughter was clear and sweet, like the most beautiful music in winter, filling Renault and Wang Jing's hearts with warmth and sweetness.
