Three Women in the Cage

Chapter 119: Self-pity

Yang Su said with a forced smile, "Eldest sister! What are you talking about? We didn't pack anything! It's still just as shabby! Let's stop talking about this and hurry up. If we're any later, we won't be able to make it in time for dinner!"

After saying that, he pulled Yang Yu forward!

Chi Lin trotted over and shouted to Huanhuan and Yaya with excitement, "Sister Huanhuan! Sister Yaya! Wait for me..."

Chi Linte likes to play with her two sisters. She doesn’t understand the subtle relationships between adults, she just simply likes her sisters!

However, Huanhuan and Yaya knew that their family looked down upon their mother's disdain and contempt, so they just smiled politely at the enthusiastic Chi Lin!

But they couldn't stand Chi Lin being surrounded by Sister Huanhuan on his left and Sister Yaya on his right, so they had to pretend to be enthusiastic and talk to him!

Yang Yu watched Chi Lin dressed in beautiful clothes, jumping and laughing in front of her children like a princess. Her children, like her servant girls, surrounded her and fawned over her.

She felt a pang of resignation, and then she looked at her own shabby appearance, which formed a sharp contrast with her younger sister's bright and beautiful attire.

My younger sister is young and beautiful, while I am unfashionable and ugly. It's fine if I can't compare to her, but why can't even my own children compare to hers? They are so pretty and lively, always chatting and joking with others with smiles on their faces.

And in front of them, I and my children are like their foil, which makes their nobility appear even more.

Yang Yu thought about it and couldn't help but say it out loud. She didn't know when it started, but she slowly developed a low self-esteem. She always saw the strengths and shining points of others, and while envying them, she also felt resentful and self-pitying.

She even associated herself with her children. She always saw the bad side of her children. Although several of her children were pretty and cute, she felt that they were not as pretty and cute as other children.

She even thought that their words were unpleasant to the ear, silly, and not as smart as other children. On the one hand, she despised it because of Zhang Erfa's genes, but on the other hand, she felt that it was her problem and they should learn from her!

She felt unwilling to accept it and couldn't help but complain, "Oh, your Chi Lin is smart. Not only is she pretty, but she also speaks sweetly! Unlike my Huanhuan and Yaya, who are stupid and dumb. They inherited her useless father's stupid way of speaking!"

She felt that after she said these words, she would feel better. She was used to venting her bad emotions by slandering Zhang Erfa, and even implicating the child through Zhang Erfa!

Unsurprisingly, her words reached the ears of several children, and they were rudely despised and attacked by their mother in front of those people.

Because of family reasons, or perhaps because of Zhang Erfa's genes, they tend to be quiet and taciturn. Even the carefree Yaya, when Yang Yu couldn't see her, was rejected and bullied, fighting with boys and girls, and her personality was deeply wounded. So, how could children who grew up like them be lively and smiling?

They are used to being silent and serious, and a child with such a personality is indeed not a likable child.

But because of the hardship she had led, Yang Yu blamed herself and even felt that her child was just like her, pitiful and pathetic, inferior to others in every way, like a being full of shortcomings and unbearable things, despised by others!

She was unwilling to give up, and she always met people who could talk to her, so she kept mocking herself, belittling herself, and denying herself. She also denied and belittled Zhang Erfa and several other children!

She just thinks it's a way to vent, but she doesn't know that others will only think you are getting worse and worse, and will keep their distance from you. Because you have denied yourself, how can others look up to you? They will only look down on you more from the bottom of their hearts!

On the one hand, you don't want to think you are really that bad, and on the other hand, you resent others' disdain for you! But isn't it the slander you constantly say about yourself that makes others disdain you?

Sometimes people are really ridiculous and pathetic!

Huanhuan and Yaya felt a pang of discomfort when they heard their mother's denial, but they couldn't argue with her. Deep down, they didn't think they were any worse than others; their mother just couldn't see it. Or maybe it was just what their mother said, but who wanted to have their bad side pointed out in front of others?

Who doesn’t want to be praised, complimented, and seen with envy by others? Who likes to be denied, seen with disdain by others, especially when the evaluation comes from one’s mother!

It was Yang Yu's self-pity that made Zhang Erfa distance himself from her more and more! Although Zhang Erfa was cowardly, incompetent, timid, and irresponsible, he also didn't like Yang Yu, who was like a loudspeaker, complaining and slandering everyone she met!

Similarly, the three children don’t like it either. Whenever their mother talks to others, they always have to be brought along and get criticized and despised!

But the mother is strong and authoritarian, never willing to listen to their ideas, and never feels that she is wrong. She thinks what she says is the truth, so why can't she say it? In fact, she just wants to vent her emotions!

There was a time when I always thought that my mother provided them with food and clothing, cared about their health, and wanted to educate them well and help them succeed.

But she has never cared about their mental health. When she is in a bad mood, she always scolds them for being cowardly and useless, and for not being able to do anything. Sometimes she even loses control of her emotions and beats and scolds them, and then looks at them with disgust!

Her love is both passionate and heavy, oppressive and inescapable. When you try to distance yourself from her sharp words, she'll accuse you of how hard her life has been for you, leaving you without even the courage to escape! You can only stand in that corner, letting her vent her emotions with all kinds of criticism, insults, slander, and denial.

When you can't stand it any more, you roar and argue, "I'm not..."! She will cut you off viciously, and then accuse you and resent you with a storm of anger!

Finally, you don’t know whether everything she did was because of love or because of unwilling obsession!

Later, your relationship gradually drifted apart. You wanted to get closer but were afraid to do so. You wanted to stay away but felt guilty. You were entangled and hesitant, and it was about to explode!

Yang Su felt happy when she heard her elder sister praising her children, but she didn't show it on her face. She still said politely, "Hanhuan and Yaya are also smart. Don't talk about them like that!"
