I walk sideways in the game world
Chapter 9: A new chapter begins
Ren Xiaoyao and Xia Lin sat side by side on the hillside at the village entrance, the night breeze caressing their faces, bringing a hint of early summer warmth. Under the starry night sky, the quiet village seemed like a serene painting, broken only by the occasional chirping of insects in the distance.
"Xiaoyao, are we really leaving the Novice Village?" Xia Lin asked softly, looking at the starry sky, with a hint of reluctance in her tone.
"Yes," Ren Xiaoyao turned to look at Xia Lin, his eyes gleaming with determination, "We have stayed here for too long. It's time to explore the wider world."
Ever since Ren Xiaoyao arrived in this world, the Novice Village has become the starting point of his adventure. Here, he and Xia Lin met, got to know each other, and fought side by side, creating their own glory together.
Today, their reputation is at its peak, and the villagers all give them thumbs up when they mention them, but they are not satisfied with this. Like eagles eager to soar into the sky, the fire of adventure always burns in their hearts, longing to go further, challenge more powerful enemies, and write their own legend.
The next morning, Ren Xiaoyao and Xia Lin packed their bags and prepared to leave. At the village entrance, Lao Wang and the villagers saw them off, their faces filled with blessings and anticipation.
"Xiaoyao, you're leaving. I'm really reluctant to see you go." Lao Wang patted Ren Xiaoyao's shoulder and said earnestly, "The world outside is wonderful, but also full of dangers. You must be careful!"
"Don't worry, Lao Wang, we will." Ren Xiaoyao nodded. He knew that Lao Wang was really doing this for their own good.
"I have a map here that might be helpful to you." Lao Wang pulled out a sheepskin map from his pocket and handed it to Ren Xiaoyao. "This map records some secrets of the game world. You can refer to it."
"Thank you, Lao Wang!" Ren Xiaoyao took the map and put it away solemnly. He knew that this map was not only a gift, but also Lao Wang's expectations and blessings for them.
After bidding farewell to the villagers, Ren Xiaoyao and Xia Lin embarked on a new journey. They headed westward, heading in the direction marked on the map, their hearts filled with anticipation and longing for the future.
"Xiaoyao, look!" After walking for a while, Xia Lin suddenly pointed ahead and said, "Is there anyone there?"
Ren Xiaoyao looked in the direction of Xia Lin's finger and saw a figure walking towards them not far away.
"It's Li Hu!" Ren Xiaoyao recognized the man at a glance.
Li Hu walked quickly to them and said breathlessly: "Wait for me, I want to go on an adventure with you too!"
"Why are you here?" Ren Xiaoyao asked with a hint of a smile on his face. He knew that Li Hu had always been eager for adventure, but he just lacked the courage.
"I... I heard you were leaving the Novice Village, so..." Li Hu scratched his head a little embarrassedly, "I want to join your team and see the outside world together!"
Xia Lin walked forward, patted Li Hu on the shoulder, and said with a smile, "Welcome aboard! However, the world outside is much more dangerous than the Novice Village, so you must be mentally prepared."
Li Hu nodded firmly: "I won't hold you back! I will work hard to prove my worth!"
Li Hu joined their team and the three continued to move westward, crossing mountains and ridges, passing through dense forests, and experiencing all kinds of hardships and dangers along the way.
They encountered torrential downpours, howling winds tearing at their clothes, and icy rain lashing down on them relentlessly. They dodged ferocious beasts, the sharp fangs of giant wolves gleaming coldly in the sun, their deafening roars terrifying them. They also encountered other adventurers on the road, forced to draw swords and engage in desperate battles for scarce resources.
However, no matter what difficulties they encountered, the three of them always united as one, supported each other, and relied on their wisdom and courage to overcome danger time and time again.
Ren Xiaoyao is calm and wise, and can always make the right judgment at critical moments; Xia Lin is smart and flexible, and is good at using various techniques to deal with the enemy; and although Li Hu lacks experience, he is brave and fearless, and always stands up when the team needs him most.
"Xiaoyao, look!" After several days of trekking, they arrived at a quiet valley. Xia Lin pointed to a sea of purple flowers deep in the valley and said excitedly, "What are those flowers? They are so beautiful!"
"Be careful, it might be..." Before Ren Xiaoyao could finish his words, a giant spider suddenly jumped out from the sea of flowers. Its eight scarlet eyes stared at them intently, and it let out a creepy roar...
"Be careful!" Ren Xiaoyao pulled Xia Lin behind him, drew his sword, and stared at the giant spider warily. The spider was covered in purple fur, and its eight scarlet eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty light, which was chilling.
"It's the Amethyst Spider!" Li Hu exclaimed, "This spider is extremely poisonous and very fast. We have to be careful!"
Before he could finish his words, the Amethyst Spider had already launched its attack. Its eight furry legs moved swiftly, stirring up a gust of fishy wind as it flew straight towards Ren Xiaoyao's face. Ren Xiaoyao dodged the attack by moving sideways, then swung his sword, sending a stream of sword energy hurtling towards the spider.
With a clang, the sword energy struck the spider's hard shell, leaving only a shallow white mark. The Amethyst Spider roared and spurted out a cloud of purple venom. Ren Xiaoyao quickly stepped back. The venom fell to the ground, instantly corroding a large pit and emitting a puff of white smoke.
"I'm here to help you!" Zhao Linger, who had been at the back of the group, suddenly rushed forward and sprinkled a handful of powder. The powder dispersed in the air, forming a light green mist that enveloped the Amethyst Spider.
The Amethyst Spider suddenly became manic and restless, roaring and crashing around in the fog, but it was still unable to break through the blockade of the fog.
"What is this?" Li Hu asked in surprise.
"This is the poison mist I recently developed," Zhao Linger explained. "It can interfere with its senses and temporarily disorient it."
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Ren Xiaoyao and Xia Lin attacked together. Xia Lin, nimble and agile, fluttered around the spider like a butterfly, stabbing its joints with her dagger. Ren Xiaoyao seized the opportunity and stabbed the spider's eye with his sword.
The Amethyst Spider let out a shrill scream, and its huge body fell to the ground with a bang.
Zhao Linger walked forward and carefully examined the spider's body. Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she found a herb emitting a faint purple light from the spider's abdomen.
"What is this?" Charlene asked curiously.
"If I'm not mistaken, this should be the legendary purple heart grass!" Zhao Linger said excitedly, "This herb is extremely rare. It is said to enhance one's physical fitness and increase the speed of cultivation!"
After several days of research, Zhao Linger successfully extracted the essence of the purple heart grass and refined it into a magical potion. After taking it, everyone felt a warm current flowing through their body, and their strength and speed were significantly improved.
Meanwhile, Liu the Blacksmith used the materials he obtained from the Amethyst Spider to craft more powerful equipment for the team. Ren Xiaoyao received a lightweight yet defensive soft armor, Xia Lin a pair of incredibly sharp daggers, and Li Hu a sturdy shield.
With new equipment and new powers, their team became much stronger. The three packed their bags and prepared to leave the valley and continue their adventure.
"What's ahead?" Standing on the hill, Ren Xiaoyao pointed to a forest shrouded in mist in the distance and asked.
"I don't know," Charlene shook her head. "There's no mark on the map. Maybe we can go explore?"
"Okay!" Ren Xiaoyao's eyes sparkled with excitement, "Adventure awaits us!"
Just as they were about to go deep into the unknown, a mysterious figure appeared in front of them, leaving behind a meaningful smile, and then... the wind swept away the remaining clouds, and a new chapter began.
The rolling hills resembled dark green waves, connecting with the horizon in the distance. Ren Xiaoyao stood on the hill, facing the crisp morning breeze, gazing into the distance with a burning gaze.
"What's ahead?" He pointed to the forest shrouded in mist. It looked like a huge emerald, mysterious and quiet.
"There's no mark on the map," Charlene shook her head. The golden sunlight shone on her fair face, outlining a soft outline. "Perhaps, we can go explore?"
"That's exactly what I meant." Ren Xiaoyao smiled slightly, his eyes full of desire for the unknown.
Bidding farewell to the peaceful Novice Village, the kindly Old Wang, the honest Li Hu, and the gentle Zhao Linger, they embarked on a new journey. The equipment crafted for them by Blacksmith Liu gleamed coldly in the sunlight, as if foreshadowing the challenges they were about to face.
However, just as they were about to step into the unknown forest, a figure appeared silently in front of them.
He was an old man in a gray robe, his face marked by the traces of time, his deep eyes seeming to hold endless wisdom. He stood there quietly, leaning on a wooden staff, seemingly blending in with his surroundings. If Ren Xiaoyao hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would have suspected he was hallucinating.
"You are..." Ren Xiaoyao asked hesitantly, his heart full of doubts.
The old man didn't answer, but smiled slightly, with a hint of elusive meaning in his smile. He slowly stretched out his hand, pointing to the depths of the forest, then turned and left, his figure gradually disappearing into the mist, as if he had never appeared.
"What... does he mean?" Xia Lin looked at the direction where the old man disappeared, feeling a little uneasy.
Ren Xiaoyao was silent for a moment, his eyes becoming firm. "Perhaps, he wants to tell us that the real adventure has just begun."
He took a deep breath, gripped his sword tightly, and took the lead as he walked into the mist-shrouded forest. Charlene followed closely behind, a determined glint in her eyes.
Everything was hazy in the mist. Ancient trees blocked out the sun, and vines intertwined like a giant net, enveloping them. Silence reigned, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing through the woods.
"Be careful," Ren Xiaoyao warned in a low voice, "It may be dangerous here."
Just as he finished speaking, a rustling sound came from the front, accompanied by a few low roars, which was creepy.
Ren Xiaoyao and Xia Lin exchanged a glance, each seeing a hint of solemnity in the other's eyes. They gripped their weapons tightly, slowed their pace, and slowly walked towards the direction of the sound...
