Peking Opera Cat: I Became A Zi's Brother

Chapter 50: First Performance

Two and a half weeks later

"Azi, are you working too hard?"

Mo Yun looked at her sister worriedly at the door and said, slowly recalling

From that day on, my sister's life has been closely connected with the guzheng.

Every morning, when the first rays of sunlight penetrated the curtains, she began her practice day after day. From her initial awkwardness to her later fluency, every note she played embodied her unremitting effort and persistence.

At night, as the stars dotted the sky, she sat before her guzheng, her fingertips dancing as she pursued her dream. In those days, she seemed to be cut off from the world, her guzheng as her only companion, playing day and night, all for the upcoming exam, the stage where she could prove herself and showcase her talents.

"This is too much trouble. Why bother? I can get you whatever you want!"

There is tenderness in Mo Yun's eyes, yet a hint of ferocity.

"Come on, Ah Zi, take a break! Have some of the snacks I brought you. They're all made by me, so they're absolutely delicious."

Mo Yun walked in slowly

Zheng

Mo Zi calmed down immediately after hearing his brother's voice, and placed his hands on the strings to calm them down as well.

"Thank you, brother. These are really delicious. But I'm going to participate in a competition this afternoon. You have to come and support me."

Mo Zi picked up a small biscuit and put it in his mouth, chewing it while saying to him

"Okay, I'll definitely come. But time flies so fast, and soon you'll have your exams too. I hope you don't get too proud no matter what place you get!"

Mo Yun rubbed her sister's head

"okay"

Mo Zi responded softly

"Then I won't bother you anymore. Just practice hard and try to get a good ranking."

After Mo Yun finished speaking, she glanced at her sister and left with the tray.

"Brother, I won't let you down."

Slowly, a melodious guzheng music came out, winding and twisting...

……

Finally, that exciting and nerve-wracking day arrived. This exam wasn't just a test of my sister's guzheng skills; it was also a golden opportunity for her to showcase her talent to all the cat people. The exam took place in a magnificent auditorium, decorated in a blend of classical and modern styles, with every detail revealing a deep respect and passion for art.

"Brother, what should I do? I'm so scared. Can I not participate? Let's go home!"

Mo Zi held Mo Yun's hand and said a little scaredly

"Sister, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?"

Mo Yun squatted down and looked at her sister softly and said

"I'm not feeling uncomfortable. I'm just so nervous seeing so many people in the audience! As the Young Master, if I fail or don't play well, they will definitely criticize me. I'll be so sorry to Mother. I'll even bring shame to you, brother."

As Mo Zi was talking, she was about to drop her pearls.

"Sister, you must remember that you can never give up on any challenge. You must first challenge it and see what kind of impact it can have on you. If you fail, you must understand why you failed. Winning will allow you to better reflect on yourself. Why not?"

Mo Yun stroked her sister's head and said softly

"Really? Brother? Then I'll beat him up like a bad guy, right?"

Mo Zi asked softly

"Yes."

"But I'm still so scared. What should I do? My hands are still shaking."

When Mo Zi spoke, his voice had a slight tremor.

"Then brother asks you who is ready to come to this stage."

"Of course I'm ready."

"Who's ready?"

"I'm ready."

"Who is ready?"

"Of course I'm ready."

Mo Zi jumped up after he finished speaking, looking very energetic.

"Azi, you look very energetic now!"

Mo Yun gently rubbed her sister's head

Meanwhile, on stage

"Thank you very much for the performance of Mr. So-and-so. His performance is really unforgettable." Male

"Let's look forward to the next one coming on stage. She is the young leader of our sect."

"After I finished speaking, there was a burst of applause from the audience."

Backstage

"Go, sister. Your brother will be watching you here."

"Um"

Mo Yun couldn't help but feel happy as she watched her sister walk onto the stage with determination.

When A Zi stepped onto the stage, she seemed to be in another world. All her tension and anxiety disappeared at this moment, replaced by unprecedented confidence and expectation.

She parted her red lips, eyes slightly closed, as if engaging in a silent conversation with the zither, each string an extension of her emotions. With the gentle rhythm of the first note, the air seemed to be filled with a faint scent of sandalwood, the zither's unique charm and Mo Zi's devout tribute to art.

Dark purple fingers danced gracefully across the guzheng's strings like ethereal butterflies. Sometimes they glided gently, like a spring rain brushing against tender leaves; sometimes they pressed down forcefully, like a summer thunderclap. Every movement was precise, every pressure applied with just the right amount of force, as if she and the guzheng had already established some mysterious rapport.

As the melody deepened, my sister's body began to sway gently to the rhythm. Her hair fluttered in the wind, her eyes twinkled with stars, and it felt as if the whole world was spinning with her playing. Under her fingertips, the zither's timbre became rich and varied, sometimes crisp and melodious, like the sound of a mountain spring; sometimes deep and melodious, like the gentlest moonlight in the night sky, shining down on the world.

At that moment, the entire auditorium seemed enveloped by an invisible magic. The audience held their breath, terrified of missing a single detail. They were captivated by A Zi's performance, as if transported into one fantastical world after another. Some saw the misty rain of the Jiangnan water towns, with their small bridges and flowing water, and their homes; some felt the desolate grandeur of the desert's solitary smoke, with wind and sand swirling across the sky; and still others felt as if they were in the tranquility of the Peach Blossom Spring, at peace with the world and experiencing a peaceful and tranquil life.

As the last note slowly fell, the entire auditorium fell into a brief silence, followed by thunderous applause. Mo Zi stood up, smiled, and bowed deeply to the audience, a gesture of gratitude for their support and a testament to her own hard work. Waiting for the results to be announced, time seemed to freeze. When the teacher, after deliberately keeping it a secret, finally announced that Ah Zi had won first place, the entire auditorium erupted in excitement again. Although her younger sister appeared to be slightly annoyed by the teacher's joke, the tears in her eyes betrayed her excitement and joy. She knew that all this glory was the result of her own unremitting efforts and perseverance.

After the performance, Mo Zi couldn't wait to jump off the stage and run straight towards me. Like a happy little bird, she leaped onto me and hugged me tightly, her joy evident. I smiled back, my eyes filled with encouragement and pride. We smiled at each other, and without further words, the deep bond between brother and sister was perfectly expressed in that moment.
