"In the army?" Cheng Hui was shocked.
Xie Songlin and Xie Wanxing also realized the seriousness of the problem. If the injured teenager was really being hunted by military personnel, their family might also be involved.
"I was impulsive this time." Xie Wanxing pursed his lips, "But I'm a doctor. I really can't watch someone die in front of me."
Xie Songlin certainly understood his daughter. He patted Xie Wanxing's shoulder gently and said, "You are not wrong, Ah Xing, but now we also need to think about what to do after saving him."
Cheng Hui also said: "Axing, don't blame yourself. Your father and I are your biggest supporters. No matter where we are, we hope you can stay true to your original intention."
"Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Mom." Xie Wanxing nodded and called out the names he hadn't used in a long time. "But we can't keep him in the space forever. When he wakes up, he'll discover the secrets of the space."
Xie Songlin asked, "When will he wake up?"
"Probably not tonight. He's lost too much blood, and there's no way to give him a blood transfusion here." Xie Wanxing reached out and touched his forehead, saying worriedly, "I'm just afraid he'll have a fever in the middle of the night."
"Then put him in the space tonight so that Ah Xing can treat him. We'll take turns visiting him every hour." Xie Songlin thought for a moment and said to Cheng Hui, "Tomorrow, you and Ah Xing will stay home and move him to the back room next to Ah Xing's room. If the boys at home ask, just say he's your distant nephew. We'll ask him again when his injuries are better."
"Then when he wakes up, how are we going to explain why we treated him?" Xie Wanxing asked, "I still need to change his dressings. I can't just knock him unconscious and then change the dressings every time, right?"
Xie Songlin: "Then knock him out."
Xie Wanxing: ...
Xie Songlin added, "Otherwise, when he gets better, you can teach me and I'll change his medicine. We can't let anyone outside know about this."
"Let's do this for now. Let's settle him down tomorrow."
After discussing other matters, Xie Songlin and Cheng Hui found two sticks and a large piece of curtain cloth in the space and quickly made a simple stretcher. They carefully carried the young man to the guest room of the villa and placed him there. The three of them allocated the time to visit him in the middle of the night and then left the space.
In the second half of the night, just as worried, the boy developed a fever. Fortunately, the situation was not particularly serious. Xie Wanxing dissolved the antibiotics in water, pried open his mouth, put a small funnel in it, dripped the antibiotics in, and found a fever-reducing patch for him.
By daybreak, his high fever had basically subsided. Xie Songlin and Xie Wanxing took advantage of the fact that no one else in the house had gotten up yet and quickly transferred the boy from the space to the guest room closest to Xie Wanxing.
It was called a guest room, but it was actually more like a pharmacy built specifically for Xie Wanxing. It was originally intended to be used as a storage space for her belongings after she had completed her medical studies, but now it seemed like a perfect place to house this young man.
"What a great physique!" Xie Wanxing held the thermometer and gently placed it against the boy's forehead to measure his temperature. After checking his wounds to make sure they were not inflamed, he couldn't help but sigh, "This body is doing so well even without antibiotics."
"Looking at him, he must be a martial artist, right? His physical fitness must be better."
"Alright, Dad, please go now. I think he'll wake up today. I need to think about how to explain it to him." Xie Wanxing started to chase him away. "Don't come if you have nothing to do. It will reduce the risk of bacterial infection."
Xie Wanxing read a book in the room for a long time, stretched her stiff body slightly, and went to the back room to check the situation. She stood by the bed and when her eyes fell on the boy, she keenly noticed that his eyelashes trembled slightly, obviously he had woken up.
She looked for a while, then turned around and went out to call Cheng Hui in. When the mother and daughter entered, the boy had already opened his eyes and was looking at them warily.
"You're awake." Cheng Hui was the first to break the silence. She walked forward and touched the boy's forehead. She felt him retreat slightly, but she didn't care. She just bent down and asked softly, "How do you feel? Does the wound still hurt?"
The young man didn't respond immediately. He just stared at them intently, as if thinking about the current situation. After a moment, he said in a hoarse voice, "Thank you, ma'am, for saving my life. My wound is much better now."
Cheng Hui smiled and asked, "That's good. What would you like to eat later?"
The young man was stunned, his mind in a mess, and he didn't know how to answer Cheng Hui's question for a moment. He had been prepared to be questioned about his background or the reason for his injury, but he didn't expect her to act out of the ordinary and instead ask him what he wanted to eat.
This accident caught the young man off guard. He stared at Cheng Hui blankly, with a hint of confusion and surprise in his eyes.
Cheng Hui was just chatting with him. She had already cooked it. No matter what he said, she would give him millet porridge. "You are still very weak and need to supplement your nutrition. But you can only eat light food. How about I make you a bowl of millet porridge?"
He nodded slightly and said softly, "Thank you, ma'am."
"Okay, then we'll go out first. The wounds have been treated with medicine, so don't move." After Cheng Hui gave the instructions, she took Xie Wanxing out.
"He's really good-looking." Cheng Hui went into the kitchen and scooped him a bowl of porridge. When it cooled, she gossiped with Xie Wanxing, "He must be from a wealthy family, right? He's so juicy."
"..." Xie Wanxing's face was filled with black lines. She didn't expect her mother's inner thoughts just now to be like this, "Mom, you are also obsessed with looks."
Seeing that the porridge was almost cold, Cheng Hui took out a peculiarly shaped spoon from the space. Xie Wanxing usually liked to collect bottles and jars or peculiarly shaped tableware, so she found a slanted spoon that was just right for feeding the little boy inside.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Xie Wanxing twitched his lips as he looked at the spoon that Cheng Hui took out, a shiny stainless steel spoon.
"Bring him food."
"This spoon! It's made of stainless steel! Where can you find stainless steel nowadays? You use it to feed him. Aren't you afraid that he will find out?" Xie Wanxing snatched the spoon and threw it back into the space.
"Oh, I was just thinking about how to feed her conveniently, and I forgot about this." Cheng Hui touched Xie Wanxing's head, "You still have to be my good daughter."
"Mom, don't look for weird things. Just find a shallow spoon and feed him a small amount at a time. Anyway, he is not suitable to eat too much now." Xie Wanxing reminded softly.
