Alien Science Cultivation
Chapter 2 A Strange Transformation
Zhang Qiang lay in bed, his eyes fixed on the deep and vast sky, eagerly anticipating the weekend the following day. He longed for it to arrive as quickly as the wind, yet was also terrified of the unknown. This first love state of mind was both beautiful and a bit shy.
A meteor streaked across the sky, its light dazzling and dazzling, brighter than any Zhang Qiang had ever seen, as bright as a burning torch, instantly illuminating the entire night sky. As the meteor faded away, Zhang Qiang's thoughts gradually became chaotic, and he slowly fell asleep. But a moment later, and then what seemed like an eternity, Zhang Qiang slowly opened his eyes, his brow furrowed, and found that he could not fall asleep.
"Huh... where is this?" Zhang Qiang was filled with confusion, his forehead furrowed in deep lines, his eyes filled with bewilderment. Something wasn't right! That meteor was still there. Shouldn't it have already passed by? Suddenly, a flood of information flooded Zhang Qiang's mind.
My name is Zhang Qiang, a cattle herder from the mountains. My parents toiled diligently on the land year-round, often catching fish and shrimp to sell for money to supplement the family income. Although our family was poor, it was incredibly warm. I also had two older sisters. "That's not right... Although my name is Zhang Qiang, I have two older sisters, and I also herd cattle, but... I'm already in college..." But the unfamiliar clothes, the rough material rubbing against my skin, the cold and hard touch of this stone house, all shocked Zhang Qiang immensely. His eyes widened, his mouth slightly open, as if he had witnessed the most incredible thing in the world. "Shouldn't I be in the dormitory?" Two thoughts raced through Zhang Qiang's mind...
In the blink of an eye, everything changed. Although his mind was flooded with information, Zhang Qiang felt no discomfort, as if these memories had always belonged to him. "Did I travel through time... or was my mind just confused...?" This was Qingniu Mountain on the Xuanwu Continent, home to Zhang Qiang, his familiar sisters, and his parents.
Zhang Qiang suddenly sat up from his bed, a bare, lumpy plank, devoid of even a blanket. Beside the bed lay a pair of newly tied straw sandals. He scratched his head, a look of disbelief on his face, as if lost in an unknown world. Looking up, the moon was bright, and there were actually two of them, hanging high in the sky like giant jade disks. The sky was filled with stars, larger and brighter than those on Earth, their dazzling light intertwined, illuminating the midnight sky like daylight, a brilliant, dreamlike spectacle.
"Brother! Why are you up? Have a good rest so that you will have the strength to seek immortal fate tomorrow. Once you enter the immortal gate, our family can live a good life!" The second sister's soft and concerned voice came with a strong sense of fatigue.
"Immortal fate?" Zhang Qiang murmured, remembering the annual Journey to Immortality. It was a chance to change one's fate, but also an unknown adventure. He frowned, lost in thought.
"It's okay, sister! I'm not tired, I just want to see the stars!" Zhang Qiang said, stretching lazily with pretended calmness.
"Okay! You have always liked to look at the stars, but you don't know what's so good about it. Go to bed early after you finish looking at them!" There was a hint of helplessness in the second sister's voice.
"Okay, sister!" Zhang Qiang agreed and walked out of the stone house. The stone house was about two meters high, half of it was made of stone, with rough stones scattered in an orderly manner, and the other half was a natural cave, as if it were the embrace of the earth. There was a door, but it was more like a simple fence, with a few wooden strips tied together crookedly. There were two windows, also made of a few bamboo strips, blocking the outside with a fence. The bamboo strips swayed gently in the breeze. There were several similar neighboring houses on both sides of the house, dimly visible in the night. The house looked particularly lonely in the moonlight, as if it was a corner forgotten by the world.
The village was eerily quiet at night. Zhang Qiang walked barefoot, even hearing the subtle scraping of his feet, as soft as falling leaves. He walked cautiously, not wanting to disturb his parents' rest. He picked up his straw sandals and tiptoed toward a path leading to the river. The path meandered like a sleeping dragon. Growing up, the riverside was where the village friends gathered most.
Sweet river water, round rocks, plump fish, river shrimp... and so on. These were all favorites of his friends. Zhang Qiang found a large rock and lay flat on his back, dipping his feet into the water, feeling the coolness and comfort of the river. Closing his eyes, he searched through his memories, trying to clear his mind. "It felt like I was dreaming. University, dormitories, lights, and my sister Ni Fang. The words and music were so real. Time travel? I traveled through time? He traveled through time? It's ridiculous, yet so real! I can't tell which is real? Which is fake? But it all feels real... I don't want to think about it anymore. I can't delay my quest for immortality!" His face alternated between confusion and determination.
"Brother Zhang Qiang," a sudden shout startled Zhang Qiang, and his body trembled violently. "Oh my god! Who is that? I'm so scared..." His trembling body seemed to be struck by lightning.
"Brother Zhang Qiang! What the hell does that mean?"
"Hey, little brat, why aren't you sleeping? Why are you hanging out here in the middle of the night?" It turned out to be Xiaohua, a fellow villager of Zhang Qiang's, two years his junior. He'd been following Zhang Qiang around like a little dog during his cattle-herding days. Despite his younger age, he was adept at climbing trees, wading through rivers, building houses, and even building bridges. He was the most likely spiritual child in Qingshan Village to achieve his goal of becoming an immortal!
"You are going to seek immortal fate tomorrow, and I want to see you off. I just caught some prawns from the river and will take them with you to fill your stomach for the journey tomorrow! When I came up, I saw you lying here in a daze." As he said this, he shook off the river water on his hair and showed a simple and honest smile. The smile looked particularly innocent in the moonlight, like the clear lake water.
"Don't worry about the village. With me here, our village won't starve. If you go there and seek a connection with the immortals, the immortal sect will take care of our village accordingly! Even if you don't, don't be like those guys who never came back. You'll always have food and drink when you come back. With your abilities, you can make it anywhere! It's just that the village can't bear to leave you. Next year, when I turn 18, I'll go seek a connection with the immortals too. If I don't find it, I'll definitely come back. I can't bear to leave the village..." Strangely enough, Zhang Qiang, who used to be almost obsessed with seeking the immortals, suddenly felt nothing at all today! The whole immortal thing seemed like nonsense! Zhang Qiang slowly sat up and looked at Xiaohua, who had sat beside him with a serious expression. He was silent for several minutes, his face solemn, as if he were pondering a major life decision. The moonlight fell on them, casting two slender shadows.
"It's great to have you. The immortal path can be a dangerous one. Whether I can get the immortal fate or not, I will come back to see you as long as I am still alive! Take good care of the village..."! After speaking, Zhang Qiang lay down slowly again and began to think about the information about the immortal path in his brain! "A sword can split the mountains and move the seas. It seems that there are also the Qi refining, golden elixir, foundation building, and Nascent Soul in the novels of cultivation... Did I travel to the world of cultivation? Is it similar to what is written in the novels? Then am I the protagonist? Does the world of cultivation really exist? It seems to be true! The information in my mind tells me that it is a real world! After becoming an immortal, I can probably travel back through some means. At the moment, I have to admit that I have traveled through time..." His eyes were sometimes confused, and sometimes flashed with a glimmer of hope.
"Okay," Xiaohua said, handing over a few large shrimp. Honestly, they were huge, their claws strong and powerful, their bodies translucent. It's rare to get one this big before! I guess they've been soaking in this water for the past half night!
"Lie down for a while," Zhang Qiang said as he took the prawn.
"it is good"!
Zhang Qiang slowly pondered the information on Earth about cultivation, figuring it was all fake, fabricated by the author. But could the immortal fate he now faced be a scam? Were those who never returned, tricked into going to Ga Yaozi? Strange thoughts flooded Zhang Qiang's mind, a tangled mess he couldn't untangle. His brow furrowed in worry, a look of worry as if shrouded by a dark cloud.
After a while, the sound of Xiaohua's steady sleep could be heard beside him. This guy must be exhausted, Zhang Qiang thought to himself, and shook his head helplessly, with a hint of helplessness and heartache. Forget it, I'll just sleep for a while, maybe I'll be back on Earth when I wake up.
In this quiet night, accompanied by worries about the unknown and memories of the past, Zhang Qiang gradually fell into a chaotic sleep, not knowing what the tomorrow would be like.
"Brother Qiang, wake up! It's time to go! It's almost dawn! Don't waste time!" Zhang Qiang snapped his eyes open and replied, "Xiaohua... Okay, get up now, let's get going!" He quickly sat up, his movements tinged with eagerness and anticipation. Dawn had just broken, the pale blue sky still dotted with a few sparse, remaining stars. Zhang Qiang's parents and sisters had already risen. From afar, a crowd gathered outside Zhang Qiang's house—the villagers had come to see him off. Some held eggs from their own homes, others new cloth shoes, their faces filled with concern and anticipation. Xiaohua walked ahead, constantly greeting the villagers, her warmth like the village's young master. Zhang Qiang smiled innocently and nodded, his eyes filled with gratitude, as if etched in his heart the image of each person. Zhang Qiang's parents were busy entertaining the villagers, while his sisters helped Zhang Qiang pack his luggage, carefully placing the prepared dry food and water into his bag. Although life was tight, the villagers, more or less, brought gifts to see Zhang Qiang off. For a moment, Zhang Qiang felt a lump in his throat, unsure of what to say, and could only bow to the villagers. His eyes welled up slightly, filled with tears of emotion. Seeing this, Xiaohua quickly intervened, her eloquence making everyone laugh and lightening the atmosphere.
