Tokyo District Court.

The first public verdict.

Prosecutor Reiko Kujo stated the facts of the prosecution to the court:

"The defendant, Inoue Takashi, sneaked into the Otsu rental agency on the second floor of the Nomoto Building at No. 2-9, Haido-cho 3-go-dori, at around 8:30 p.m. on the evening of the incident.

While looking for stolen property in the president's office, he was accidentally seen by the president Toshiyuki Otsu who returned to the company. He threatened the victim to open the safe with a weapon he carried with him.

He then hit the victim on the head three times with an ashtray, and finally stole all the 1200 million cash in the safe. His methods were extremely cruel.

Based on Article 240 of the Criminal Code, which charges robbery and murder, I request the court to sentence the defendant to life imprisonment!

Kitagawa Taki sat in the gallery below, with Eri Kisaki and Midori Kuriyama in the dock, and the prosecutors were Reiko Kujo and a male prosecutor.

Reiko Kujo has long black hair and wears a dark blue women's uniform with an Autumn Frost and Fierce Sun badge pinned on her collar, indicating her identity.

She read out the facts of the prosecution with sharp eyes and meticulousness.

Kitagawa Taki was looking at the women from below, and Kuriyama Midori above also noticed him.

Their eyes met and Kitagawa Taki smiled at her.

Kuriyama Midori immediately looked away, sat up straight, and stared seriously at Reiko Kujo opposite her.

Kisaki Eri noticed something strange about Midori Kuriyama, and looked in the direction of her gaze, just in time to see the smiling Kitagawa Taki.

Compared with Midori Kuriyama, Eri Kisaki was much calmer and even gave Kitagawa Taki a faint smile in return.

I was just a little curious about why Kitagawa Taki appeared here.

After Kujo Reiko finished reading, the judge asked: "Does the defendant agree to accept the prosecutor's statement of facts?"

Inoue Takashi defended himself: "I just wanted to steal something that night, I didn't want to kill anyone."

"Judge!" Kisaki Eri raised her hand.

Judge: "Defense attorney, please speak."

Kisaki Eri stood up and said, "The prosecution's indictment states that the charge is robbery and murder, but the defendant did not intend to kill. Therefore, I cannot agree to this charge."

The judge asked: "Defense lawyer, do you deny the defendant's crime of robbery and murder?"

"Yes." Kisaki Eri nodded and stated, "I believe that the case should be prosecuted under Article 250 of the Criminal Code for accidental homicide."

The judge adjusted his glasses and looked at Kujo Reiko: "What does the prosecution think of the defense's objections?"

Kujo Reiko asked Inoue Takashi, "Why did the defendant choose Otsu Real Estate Agency?"

Inoue Takashi lowered his head and said: "There is no reason, I just happened to choose that place."

Kujo Reiko had a hint of a smile on her face: "So you have no hatred towards Otsu Real Estate Agency and Mr. Otsu Toshiyuki, right?"

Kitagawa Taki raised his eyebrows. Kujo Reiko's question obviously meant that the prosecution had relevant evidence and the defendant was most likely related to Otsu Toshiyuki.

Inoue Takashi replied: "Yes."

Kisaki Eri objected: "Judge, the prosecutor's question is too vague."

Kujo Reiko then asked: "Then let me change the question. Defendant, do you know a woman named Endo Noriko?"

Inoue Takashi was shocked and looked at Kujo Reiko.

Kujo Reiko said, "Why, you wouldn't not recognize your own only daughter, would you?"

Inoue Takashi remained silent.

"Only daughter?" Kisaki Eri felt something was wrong. Inoue Takashi must be hiding something from her.

She knew that Inoue Takashi had divorced and had an 20-year-old daughter 8 years ago, but based on the information she had, Endo Noriko should have no connection with this case.

"Can't you answer me?" Kujo Reiko pressed on.

Kisaki Eri stood up and said, "I protest! The questions raised by the prosecutor involve the defendant's direct blood relatives and will disturb the defendant's emotions."

The judge asked Kujo Reiko: "Is Endo Noriko related to this case?"

Kujo Reiko nodded and said, "Endo Noriko opened a fast food restaurant in a building managed by the Otsu Real Estate Agency. There are rumors that she and President Otsu Toshiyuki have an ambiguous relationship."

Kisaki Eri said to herself, "As expected," and silently glanced at Inoue Takashi who looked panicked.

Because of the information asymmetry, she will definitely be at a disadvantage in this trial.

The judge asked, "So the prosecutor believes that the defendant's infiltration into Otsu Company was not accidental?"

"Yes," Kujo Reiko replied to the judge, then looked at Inoue Takashi and said, "My investigation has revealed that some believe the defendant harbors a grudge against the victim."

Inoue Takashi was timid but said, "Don't talk nonsense. I don't even know him!"

Kujo Reiko didn't care and looked towards the audience: "Then why don't we ask Ms. Endo Noriko herself? I see she's also sitting in the audience."

A woman wearing sunglasses stood up in the gallery.

The court adjourned the hearing because a new witness was involved.

Kitagawa Taki stood up and left the court. Judging from the current situation, it was very unfavorable for Kisaki Eri.

It will undoubtedly be a challenge to her undefeated record.

……

Outside the court.

"Kitagawa, why are you here?" asked Hibari Eri.

Beichuan Taki smiled and said, "I heard that you were going to have a court showdown with Kujo Reiko, so I came to see it."

Kisaki Eri shook her head and said, "I'm going to be at a disadvantage this time."

Kitagawa Taki asked: "Is there anything I can help with?"

Kisaki Eri did not refuse and said, "We are going to find Miss Endo Noriko to find out the situation."

The three of them found Noriko Endo, explained their purpose, and then went to a coffee shop together.

After sitting down, Hibiki Eri asked, "Is what Prosecutor Kujo said true?"

Endo Noriko said, "Yes, I later found out that he lied to me. He said he would give me a store to run. He just wanted to use me."

Kisaki Eri continued to ask: "Have you told your father about President Otsu?"

Noriko Endo nodded: "My father said he would help me get compensation."

Kisaki Eri's heart sank, as this meant that there was a possibility that Inoue Takashi had deliberately killed Otsu Toshiyuki.

But her expression remained calm as she said, "One last question. I hope Ms. Endo can be honest with me. Do you think it was your father who murdered President Otsu that night?"

"No!" Endo Noriko said firmly: "My father may do some burglary, but he would never kill anyone."

"Yeah……"

Although Endo Noriko was very sure, it was a fact that Inoue Takashi had concealed something from her, and Endo Noriko's words could not rule out Inoue Takashi's suspicion of intentional homicide.

Endo Noriko said: "If there is nothing else, I will take my leave first."

Kisaki Eri nodded, stood up and sent Endo Noriko away.

Kuriyama Midori asked Kitagawa Taki, "Mr. Kitagawa, what do you think about this case?"
