Chapter 4 Wake up

When I woke up again, it was already afternoon. The light was dim. The room had wooden window panes and gauze curtains. The furnishings in the room were very simple and antique.

Everything was very strange and yet very normal. He seemed very familiar with this place, yet it also seemed completely unfamiliar.

Luo Yao stood up and found that he was wearing ancient clothes. He felt it was strange, but it seemed normal.

Luo Yao slowly moved to the door, which was open. The cleaning boy was surprised to see him.

"Someone come, the young master is awake!"

A little kid was the first to run over. Seeing Luo Yao at the door, he ran towards Luo Yao happily.

Luo Yao was shocked, "Chenchen!"

She hugged Tuanzi tightly in her arms, tears streaming down her face, and she kept repeating the word "Chenchen".

Luo Xinchen was frightened by his brother and hurried to wipe his tears.

"Brother, what's wrong with you?"

"Brother is fine." Luo Yao choked.

Luo Yao traveled through time and space, and for some reason he felt very familiar with this world.

But this is clearly ancient times, has my younger brother also traveled through time? Luo Yao was puzzled, the dumpling in his arms was his younger brother.

However, the next person who appeared stunned him. Grandpa...

What’s going on? My grandfather has been dead for four years. What’s going on?

"Yao'er!" The old man's voice trembled. Yao'er woke up, thank God!

"grandfather……"

The old man touched Luo Yao's head lovingly and murmured: "It's good that you woke up, it's good that you are okay..."

Luo Yao's eyes filled with tears and he hugged the old man.

Four years ago, his grandfather was seriously ill and he rushed to the hospital like crazy, but he encountered a traffic jam on the way and he did not see his grandfather for the last time. The only old man who loved him passed away.

Luo Lin was shocked when he was suddenly hugged. He wanted to say that his son was not following the rules because he was too old, but he immediately let it go and laughed. Yaoyao also loved to act like a spoiled child when he was a child.

The old man patted his grandson's back and said, "Grandpa is here, don't cry, you are so old, why are you crying?"

Luo Yao understood that the original owner, Luo Yao, fell into the water and committed suicide by jumping into the river, and just happened to come through.

For some unknown reason, his consciousness seemed to have merged with that of the original owner.

Even the original owner's memories and what happened to him are like the life he personally experienced.

Could it be that the original owner was not dead, and there were two souls in his body? However, Luo Yao did not feel any discomfort except for feeling weak.

Luo Xinchen was too short, and he was so anxious when he saw his brother hugging his grandfather and ignoring him.

Luo Yao came to his senses and finally noticed Tuanzi who was anxious beside him.

He smiled with relief, as if he had found a great bargain. With this smile, the fog in his heart dissipated, and he felt relieved. In the past, he had too many regrets and made many mistakes. He never expected that he would become one of the time-traveling army and regain what he had lost.

Luo Xinchen was afraid that his brother would fall into a coma again, so he watched over Luo Yao worriedly.

Luo Yao is also guarding him, right...

Why is my brother always grinning like an idiot? Luo Xinchen scratched his head, unable to figure it out.

Under the gaze of the smirking Luo Yao, Luo Xinchen, with his short legs, walked to Luo Yao's bedside and picked up a golden scroll. Then, he walked back with his short legs.

"Brother, sister-in-law"

Luo Yao was puzzled. Sister-in-law?

After taking the imperial edict and looking at it, he stopped smiling foolishly.

The Duke's family has been loyal to the emperor and the country for generations. The Duke's son is both virtuous and talented, a pillar of the country. He and Prince Yong'an are a match made in heaven...

A match made in heaven?? Isn’t it just some bad luck?!

Prince Yong'an's request for marriage was merely a personal vendetta. For the ruthless and cruel Prince Yong'an, marrying the most favored prince of his enemy, the Duke of Guo's Mansion, and having a man submit to him, receive his love and endure his torture, was probably the most satisfying way to go about it! Unexpectedly, the Emperor actually agreed!

A dark shadow flashed through Luo Yao's mind, and Luo Yao felt dizzy. The dizziness made him break out in a cold sweat.

"Brother? What's wrong with you!" Luo Xinchen anxiously grabbed his brother's sleeve, fearing that his brother would suddenly fall down and he would not be able to support him.

Luo Lin just happened to walk in and saw this scene.

"Yao'er, where do you feel uncomfortable?"

After asking, Luo Lin looked at the imperial edict that fell on the ground and hurriedly picked it up.

Thinking it was the imperial edict that made him angry, he sighed.

"Yao'er, Grandpa knows that my Luo family has been a military family for generations. I asked you to marry a man like a woman, but you don't want to. However, now in the court..." The old man sighed again.

"Grandpa is useless and can't protect you... If Yao'er doesn't want to marry, Grandpa will ask the emperor to revoke the imperial decree!"

Luo Yao didn't know the pressure the Duke's Mansion was under now, but after thinking about it, he roughly understood what had happened.

"Grandpa, I'll marry you."

Luo Lin looked at his grandson in shock and patted his beloved grandson's shoulder vigorously. "Okay, Grandpa will arrange everything and will definitely not let Yaoer down."

At night, Luo Lin brought a portrait of a man and asked Luo Yao to paint it. Luo Yao didn't know what the old man was going to do.

Fortunately, he was an art student and had practiced Chinese painting, so he was quite good at using the brush.

The next day, Luo Yao got up but didn't see the old man. He got up late, and even Luo Xinchen, the kid who usually got up the latest, got up earlier than him.

Luo Yao simply washed up and went to the front hall, where he saw Luo Xinchen holding up his head and waiting for breakfast.

The two of them sat and waited, and soon a maid came with some snacks.

Luo Yao took a look and saw white porridge.

Luo Xinchen pouted. These past few days, my brother had been ill, and the whole household had been drinking porridge. The key was to keep it plain. The imperial physician said it should be light.

Luo Xinchen doesn't want to eat plain porridge.

Luo Yao didn't want to eat plain porridge either.

Luo Yao probably hasn't eaten white porridge for more than ten years.

In the 21st century, Luo Yao could barely be considered an ordinary upper-middle-class person. His parents died in a car accident, and the family property was sold off. Together with the compensation for his parents' accident and the sale of various properties, the money left behind was more than the two brothers could have spent in their previous life.

"Chenchen, what do you want to eat? Brother will make it."

"Master, you don't know how to cook..." the maid beside him whispered.

"It's just cooking. You'll learn it by watching." Luo Yao didn't care.

"Brother, a gentleman should stay away from the kitchen!" Luo Xinchen said firmly.

"What does it mean that a gentleman stays away from the kitchen?"

"I don't know." Luo Xinchen was very honest, "A gentleman can't cook!"

"Who said that! Cooking isn't exclusive to women. All the chefs in the palace are men!"

Luo Xinchen looked at his brother with wide eyes. Although he didn't quite understand, what his brother said was right.

"What to eat?"

"Whatever my brother eats, I eat too!" Luo Xinchen raised his little hand to express.

"Okay then let's go see what's in the kitchen!"

The two men walked out of the main hall hand in hand, and a man came in with two maids behind him. To be exact, Li Qingyun came in with two maids.

Li Qingyun bowed perfunctorily to Luo Yao.

"My Lord, this is the wedding dress sent by the palace."

"Oh, put it in the house." Luo Yao had seen Li Qingyun before. He was the guard who led the betrothal that day. He seemed to be the personal bodyguard of Prince Yong'an.

Luo Yao didn't care. He said something and started to pull his brother away.

Li Qingyun stepped forward and embraced her, saying seriously, "Sir, try on this wedding dress. If it doesn't fit, send it in for alterations."

Luo Yao was very unhappy about being hugged. She frowned and reluctantly took the sandalwood box held by the maid, opened the box, took out the clothes and compared them casually.

"It fits me, no need to alter it." He said and threw the clothes to Li Qingyun.

Li Qingyun took the clothes, but he wasn't happy either. This prince had been lying in bed for four days, and when he woke up he was still in a bad mood...

This wedding dress was made in the style and size of a woman, and the prince wanted to see Luo Yao get humiliated, but he didn't expect Luo Yao to refuse.

Li Qingyun watched Luo Yao leave. He didn't want to bother with him. Anyway, I'd already asked. The prince might be happier if he wore it and got laughed at.

Luo Yao doesn't care about these things.

He was in the kitchen at the moment, directing the cook to work. The cook was an old woman with poor hearing. Luo Yao had difficulty talking to her, so he had to take over the work and do it himself.

When Ah Shi came in, he saw his eldest master, who had never done housework, busy in the kitchen.

"Master, when did you learn to cook?"

"The cook just showed me how to do it. It's not difficult. I already know how to do it."

The elderly cook didn't hear clearly what her young master said. She only heard the young master mention her. She also saw Ah Shi looking at her for confirmation, and nodded regardless of what the young master said.

Whatever the young master says is what it is.

Luo Yao poured white flour and a little old coarse flour, added hot water and kneaded it into dough, then covered it with a lid and let it rest.

The cook washed the ingredients, cut the meat into minced meat, cut the green onion into small sections, mashed the ginger, heated up the oil in a pan and fried four eggs for later use.

After taking out the dough that had been proofed, Luo Yao wanted to press it into strips, but he didn't have a mold, so he had to cut it into slices.

Press the dough into a pancake, then roll it into thin slices with a rolling pin, sprinkle some dry flour on both sides to prevent sticking, roll them together, and cut them into thin slices as thick as noodles with a knife.

Sprinkle dry flour all over to prevent sticking and shake off the dry flour.

Use one stove to boil water and another to make soup. Heat oil in a pan, stir-fry ginger paste until fragrant, add minced meat and stir-fry until fragrant, add a little rice wine to remove the fishy smell and enhance the flavor, add water, salt, four fried eggs, a little sesame oil, cover with a lid and simmer.

When the water boils, add the noodles, cook until done, and divide into four bowls.

The soup is ready. The hot soup covers the noodles. Add a few slices of boiled Chinese cabbage, sprinkle fresh mustard, vinegar, and bean paste on the surface, and add hot oil to bring out the aroma. A simple bowl of clear soup noodles is ready.

Luo Xinchen stamped his feet, he couldn't wait any longer.

Luo Yao took his own portion and his brother's small bowl and sat down at the stone table outside the kitchen.

"Wow, it's so hot!" Luo Xinchen drank the soup with a spoon. He was too small and his feet couldn't reach the ground when he sat on the stone bench.

"Eat slowly, no one will snatch it from you." Luo Yao hit Luo Xinchen lightly on the forehead with a coin.

Luo Xinchen touched his forehead and tried to eat noodles with a spoon. After trying for a long time, he found that he couldn't eat it at all.

Luo Yao took a big mouthful of noodles and drank a sip of hot soup, feeling like he was alive again. Seeing that Luo Xinchen didn't know how to eat at all, he stood up and took the child down.

"Little guy, brother will feed you"

Luo Xinchen scratched his head. He didn't need to be fed, but he just wouldn't eat what his brother cooked and he wasn't familiar with using chopsticks.

Luo Yao rolled the noodles into a ball, dipped them in hot soup, and fed them to Tuanzi one by one.

Ah Shi stood aside drooling, and the old cook also wanted to try the young master's cooking.

Luo Yao fed the egg with two chopsticks and cut the egg soaked in soup into small pieces before he noticed A Shi and the cook next to him.

"Ashi, why don't you eat, Auntie?"

"Of course I can't eat the same meal as the young master."

"Eat it. I made it specially for you. It won't taste good if it gets cold."

"The young master is a good man." The cook didn't hear clearly what the young master said, she only heard that the young master cooked his own portion, and she happily went to the kitchen to get the bowl.

Only Ah Shi was left standing there. After a moment of hesitation, Ah Shi quickly rushed into the kitchen.

The two of them took their bowls, and the aunt sat down on the stone table on her own initiative. Ah Shi didn't dare to do so, so he squatted at the kitchen door and ate alone.
