The time of the city

Chapter 9 Let’s get along well from now on

In the large living room, there was only a thin figure. He sat on the balcony, holding a book, occasionally turning a few pages. The sunlight shining through the window on his face was even more pleasing to the eye.

Nan Feng's facial features are delicate yet handsome, and his handsomeness is mixed with gentleness. The temperament he exudes is very complex, but in that gentleness and handsomeness, there is his own ethereal and handsomeness.

He read the book for a long time, but he didn't understand a single word of it. It had been several months since he left the orphanage, and he had written four letters to Mo Yu, but received no reply. He was very distressed. He wanted to go find Mo Yu, but City A was too far from City S, and he, a child, had no ability to go.

He actually wondered if Mo Yu was angry and that was why she didn't reply to his letter, but he also felt that Mo Yu was not that kind of person, and he really couldn't think of any reason.

He must go to S City to find Mo Yu. After making up his mind, Nan Feng became even more restless. Will his grandfather agree to let him go?

The sound of a car was heard outside the door. Nan Feng knew that Qiao Zhengrong had returned. He quickly ran to the door and opened it. "Grandpa, are you back?"

"Hey, my dear grandson came specially to pick up his grandfather." Qiao Zhengrong said happily.

"Well," Nan Feng touched his head awkwardly, "Grandpa, I want to ask you for a favor."

"Afeng, what favor do you need? Grandpa will definitely help you as long as I can." Nan Feng was relieved to see that his usually serious grandfather was so easy to talk to today.

"Grandpa, I want you to take me to S City. If you're busy, I can go by myself." As soon as he finished speaking, the smile on Qiao Zhengrong's face faded, and he slammed his hand on the table, scaring Nan Feng so much that he took several steps back.

"Why are you going? Now that you're back at the Qiao family, you have to study hard." Qiao Zhengrong's face flushed red, his eyes widened, the veins in his neck bulged, and his voice was deep and powerful. Even an adult would find it terrifying, let alone a 13-year-old like Nan Feng.

Nan Feng thought of Mo Yu again, so he mustered up the courage to look directly at Qiao Zhengrong. "Grandpa, I have to go. I'm Xiaoyu's brother Nan Feng, and she's waiting for me to visit her."

"You are Qiao Feng, not Nan Feng. You are the successor of the Qiao family. You and she are not on the same path. Don't mention going to S City in the future. Go upstairs and read a book." Qiao Zhengrong's chest was heaving violently. If the person in front of him was not his grandson, he really wanted to slap him to death.

Qiao Feng was his only relative in this world, and he absolutely couldn't let his grandson follow in his daughter's footsteps. Only those unburdened by the trappings of love could become strong. He also sent people to intercept the letters Qiao Feng wrote to Mo Yu. Later, he heard that Mo Yu had been adopted. That was a good thing; his grandson would never have any contact with this girl again in his life.

"Xiaoyu, the day when your brother goes abroad is getting closer, and mom is getting anxious. When I think about how long he will be gone, I can't bear to let him go." Shang Xue held Mo Yu's hand and spoke.

Shang Xue loved Ni Jiamu deeply, and was heartbroken to learn that her child was leaving the country. She wanted to stay with her child if possible. Yes, there is no love in the world more beautiful, deeper, more selfless, or more genuine than a mother's caress.

"Mom, my brother will take good care of himself. When he comes back from studying abroad, he will become a super awesome person."

"Xiaoyu, it's a good thing you're here to accompany your mother. Amu is too withdrawn. Actually, he wasn't like this before. He used to be a lively and cheerful child, chattering around me all day long."

Ten years ago, Ni Jiamu was only eight years old and was particularly attached to his parents, so he often went to different orphanages with Ni Yuantang and Shang Xue to carry out charity activities.

In the orphanage in City A, he met a little girl named Hanhan. Ni Jiamu, who had always liked younger sisters, naturally developed a better relationship with Hanhan. On weekends, he often asked Shang Xue to take him to the orphanage to see Hanhan.

He also often left his snacks for her. One weekend, Shang Xue was very busy, so Ni Jiamu took a car to go play with Han Han. Somehow, the two of them secretly left the orphanage.

On the street, Hanhan wanted to eat candied haws, so Ni Jiamu went to queue up to buy some. After he bought the candied haws, he found that Hanhan was missing. He searched for a long time and finally found Hanhan bleeding profusely in the crowd.

Hanhan was hit by a truck and died instantly. When Shang Xue arrived after receiving the news, Ni Jiamu was sitting beside Hanhan, his eyes dazed, his hands and body covered in blood. After returning home, Ni Jiamu fell seriously ill and became withdrawn. Shang Xue took him to see many psychiatrists, but he never became the lively and cheerful child he once was.

Shang Xue finished her story, her eyes red. After Mo Yu knew the truth, she suddenly felt sorry for Ni Jiamu, "Mom, I will love my brother well."

"Bang!" the book fell to the ground. Mo Yu turned around and met Ni Jiamu's eyes. He had just come downstairs when he heard Mo Yu's words. The book in his hand fell to the ground for some reason.

"Don't say bad things about me behind my back, do you hear me?" Ni Jiamu turned around and went upstairs again.

After finishing his reading, Ni Jiamu noticed that it was getting dark outside the window. The summer evening breeze gently blew the curtains on the windowsill. The twilight was hazy. He leaned back in his chair and listened to music, feeling so comfortable that he almost decided to live like this for the rest of his life.

Ni Jiamu usually went out in the afternoon, so Shang Xue didn't call him for dinner. When Ni Jiamu woke up, it was already early morning. It seemed that he was really tired recently. He slept for so long. If the air conditioner temperature was not too low, he would probably sleep until dawn.

Ni Jiamu woke up feeling dizzy, perhaps from a cold. He quickly showered and went to bed. Soon, he felt weak, his stomach churning, and he felt like vomiting. It was a long time before he finally fell into a deep sleep.

Mo Yu woke up early that morning. Wang Ma had already prepared dinner. There was a note on the table. Shang Xue said she and Ni Yuantang had gone to H City and wouldn't be back until tomorrow at the earliest. She was told to stay home.

"Xiao Yu, my granddaughter is sick and in the hospital. I have to go take care of her now. Just put it here after you finish eating. I will come back to clean up at noon." After saying this, Aunt Wang hurried away with her bag.

Mo Yu was alone in the empty house, feeling incredibly bored. She eventually decided to go to her room to paint. As she passed Ni Jiamu's room, she looked at his half-open door. She was curious about what the room of someone as aloof as Ni Jiamu looked like. Since Ni Jiamu wasn't home anyway, it didn't matter if she took a look. After convincing herself, Mo Yu opened the door.

She was almost scared. Ni Jiamu was lying on his bed. When she turned around to run away, she found that Ni Jiamu seemed to be a little abnormal, so she walked a little closer.

She noticed that Ni Jiamu's face on the bed was completely flushed. His delicate face was only pale and sickly, with beads of sweat on his forehead. Mo Yu reached out and touched Ni Jiamu's forehead, then her own. Ni Jiamu had a fever.

Mo Yu hurriedly fetched a basin of water, then went to Ni Jiamu's bathroom to get a towel. She wet the towel with water and put it on Ni Jiamu's forehead. She had seen the director take care of children with fever in this way when she was in the orphanage.

After finishing everything, Mo Yu went downstairs to find the medicine box, then remembered that Ni Jiamu had not eaten yet, so she went to the kitchen and saw that there was nothing there. Although the Ni family was rich, they had no habit of leaving leftovers, and the meals they cooked were always just right.

When Mo Yu saw the vegetables in the refrigerator, she suddenly remembered that the director had taught her how to cook vegetable porridge, so she started to cook it properly.

After it was cooked, Mo Yu tasted it with a spoon and found it good. She quickly filled a bowl and went upstairs to give it to Ni Jiamu. Ni Jiamu had just woken up and saw the basin of water in the room and the towel on his forehead. He thought it was Shang Xue who was taking care of him.

Seeing Mo Yu, "Where's Mom? Why did I ask you to bring me food?"

"Dad and Mom went to H City and won't be back until tomorrow. I went upstairs and found you sick, so I imitated the dean and applied a towel to your forehead. Brother, are you feeling better?"

After hearing what Mo Yu said, he realized that he was being taken care of by a child. He felt so ashamed at the moment.

"Brother, I cooked porridge, please drink it quickly." Ni Jiamu took the porridge from Mo Yu's hand after taking a look, and tasted it. It tasted really good. In addition, since he had not eaten last night and this morning, he drank a big bowl of porridge in one go.

Seeing that Ni Jiamu had finished the porridge she cooked, Mo Yu couldn't contain her joy. She gave the medicine to Ni Jiamu. After doing everything, Mo Yu packed up her things, closed the door and went out.

Ni Jiamu was lying on the bed. The warm morning sun rose warmly from the horizon. The golden light illuminated the earth like magic, reflecting a little warm light through the large European-style arched window lattices and sprinkling on Ni Jiamu's body. He stretched out his hand and let the sunlight shine on his palm.

Mo Yu, let’s get along well from now on.
