The time of the city

Chapter 76 I’ll accompany you

The warm sunlight shone into the room through the gaps in the curtains. Without Ni Jiamu's wake-up call, Mo Yu slept until she woke up naturally, a rare occasion.

After washing up, Mo Yu walked around the stairs a few times and made sure that Ni Jiamu was not at home. She excitedly ran back upstairs to change her clothes, had breakfast, and went out.

Mo Yu felt so good after breathing in the fresh air. She had been kept at home by Ni Jiamu for the past few days, and she was bored.

Once the excitement wore off, Mo Yu found herself with nowhere to go. She couldn't go to school; Ni Jiamu had simply given her leave, claiming she had a broken bone, until a week before her final exams. She couldn't ask Song Fei to stay with him even though she was in class.

Mo Yu didn't want to go home, so she just wandered around. As she was wandering around, she unexpectedly arrived at the entrance to the chaotic area.

"He Cheng should be going to work at this time." Mo Yu pursed her lips and prepared to go back with a little disappointment.

At this time, two big men walked out of the chaotic area. Mo Yu retreated in fear, but the two men did not notice her and were discussing something fiercely. Mo Yu breathed a sigh of relief, but a word from one of the big men caught her attention again because she heard Xiao Hecheng's name.

"Xiao Hecheng's gambling father is dead. He can relax a little now. He must be very happy."

The other big man disagreed at all, gesticulating excitedly and saying, "He must be very sad. I can see that Xiao Hecheng is a kind person. He lent me money before, and I haven't paid it back yet, but he didn't ask me to pay it back."

In the end, neither of them agreed with the other's point of view, and they stopped walking and stood there arguing. Mo Yu listened to the general idea and walked straight up to the two big men without caring whether she was scared or not.

"Brother, I heard you two talking about Xiao Hecheng just now. What happened to his family?"

"Just look at your phone, that's the headline." The big man replied impatiently.

After thanking him, Mo Yu walked to a corner and turned on her phone, which was filled with different reports about the same thing.

"A Chinese man was found dead by scavengers in the suburbs. A suicide note was found at the scene. According to the contents of the note, the deceased committed suicide because he owed a large amount of gambling debts and was unable to repay them..." Mo Yu turned off her phone halfway through reading and strode towards Xiao Hecheng's house.

She stopped a few meters from Xiao Hecheng's house. Mo Yu was afraid that barging into his house so suddenly would scare him, and she didn't know what she could do for him.

The door of Xiao Hecheng's house was half open, so Mo Yu could easily see what was going on inside. She saw Xiao Hecheng sitting on the ground, his head in his hands, supported on his knees, and looking straight in one direction.

She couldn't see his expression, but Mo Yu knew he must be extremely sad. His back was thin and desolate, and he looked like an unaddressed envelope sitting there.

His appearance was so distressing that Mo Yu couldn't help but walk into the house. Noticing someone approaching, Xiao Hecheng looked up and saw that it was Mo Yu. He smiled through his pale lips.

"Xiaoyu, why are you here? Is there something wrong?"

Mo Yu squatted down and hugged him in her arms, "I'll stay with you, everything in Hecheng will be over." Seeing that he was obviously very sad, but still pretended to be strong and smiled at her, her heart felt like it was blocked by something and she felt uncomfortable.

The cold body finally felt a little warm. Xiao Hecheng leaned his head on the girl's shoulder and slowly put his arm around Mo Yu's waist. "Xiao Yu, I'm completely homeless." A hoarse voice reached Mo Yu's ears.

She hugged him tighter "It's okay Hecheng, I will be with you."

"Before, I wished he would die, but now that he's really dead, I'm so overwhelmed. I was so happy when I heard him say he wanted to quit gambling and live a good life with me. Now he wants to commit suicide. Has he ever thought about me?"

Mo Yu knew that no matter how much Xiao Yuan went to extremes, Xiao Hecheng would forgive him because he was his father. And Xiao Hecheng just wanted a family. Now that Xiao Yuan was dead, his faith collapsed.

Rather than this, Mo Yu would rather wish Xiao Yuan had never appeared.

"He Cheng, maybe your uncle thinks you're working too hard, so he wants to lighten your burden. He loves you."

"Does he love me?" Xiao Hecheng pulled himself out of Mo Yu's arms and held her hand tightly. "He loves me, why should he die? He owes me a debt and I can pay it back with him slowly." As he spoke, tears rolled down his cheeks, dripping onto the back of Mo Yu's hand and into her heart.

"Hecheng, please believe me." Mo Yu gently wiped the tears from his face with her fingertips.

"I believe you, Xiaoyu, please accompany me to bury my father."

"it is good"

Song Fei scrolled through the news on her phone, impressed by K's quick actions. After K sent her back yesterday, he went to deal with the body. She thought he would destroy the body, but she didn't expect him to change the homicide to suicide.

At first Song Fei was very scared, but when she thought that Xiao Yuan’s death could not only reduce Xiao Hecheng’s burden, but also save herself from having to worry every day, she immediately felt relieved.

Xiao Hecheng carried the urn and led Mo Yu to the hillside. It was late autumn, and the weeds had turned yellow and lifeless, while the trees had lost all their leaves. The wind, which usually blew so comfortably, now carried a hint of chill.

Mo Yu saw a tombstone there and knew it was Xiao Hecheng's mother. Xiao Hecheng squatted down not far from the tombstone and took out a small shovel to start digging.

Mo Yu also picked up a branch to help him dig. After a while, the pit was dug, and Xiao Hecheng placed the urn in and buried it. He didn't say a word the whole time, and Mo Yu didn't say a word either, just quietly accompanying him.

After finishing everything, Xiao Hecheng knelt down in front of the tombstone. "Mom, I buried Dad with you. I know you loved him until your death. Now that Dad is with you, you won't be lonely anymore."

"Dad, stay here with Mom. Don't make her angry when you get over there..."

Mo Yu stood beside him, tears streaming down her face as she heard his words. Xiao Hecheng's only family member had passed away, leaving him truly alone in this world. A hemp rope breaks only at its thinnest point. Mo Yu couldn't understand why the world was so unfair.

On the way back, Mo Yu took his hand and said, "Hecheng, if you can't express your emotions with words, then look up at the sky. It's so big that it can surely accommodate all your sadness and grievances."

"You say, the sky accommodates so many people's emotions every day, will it be happy?" Xiao Hecheng said, looking up at the sky.

"When it's happy, the sky will be clear, and when it's unhappy, it'll rain and blow. So, Hecheng, don't hold it in your heart. Use me as a trash can and vent it out."

Xiao Hecheng curled his eyes and reached out to touch Mo Yu's head. "I know. Thank you, Xiao Yu. I'm not that fragile. I'll be fine after a good sleep."
