The time of the city

Chapter 29 Going to school

A few weeks later, Moyu's school finally started, and she was forced to get up very early.

"You said you were sleepy all day long. How come you started hibernating before winter even arrives?" Ni Jiamu looked at Mo Yu, who was sitting bleary-eyed in the passenger seat.

"Brother, young people sleep a lot, and only old people get up early."

"You said I was old?" Ni Jiamu seemed to be choked and coughed violently several times before he recovered.

"Even if you are old, you are still a handsome guy," Mo Yu blinked.

"That's more like it. No, it's still saying I'm old."

Arriving at the school, Mo Yu walked inside and realized how huge it was. The entire school was built like a palace in the heart of the city. The golden sunlight bathed the entire school, creating a hazy atmosphere. The clean gray exterior made the school even more solemn and dignified.

This school is both the most prestigious and the most difficult to enter among universities. Since its founding, it has cultivated elites from around the world, including those in medicine and business. Its students are mostly aristocrats, the wealthy and the rich. A few students, admitted through excellent academic performance, are social welfare recipients. These students don't have to pay the high tuition, but face discrimination at every turn.

Entering from the gate, the road was lined with unknown trees and a small sculpture could be seen every few meters. Mo Yu found everything new and asked Ni Jiamu to take her around the school.

"Brother, this school is so beautiful. I'm excited to think that I'll be spending the next few years here." Mo Yu shook Ni Jiamu's hand, her face full of uncontrollable excitement.

"Then you have to study harder, okay? I have to leave early for something at the company, so you can report there by yourself. Do you need to ask K to come and accompany you?" Ni Jiamu handed Mo Yu's bag to her.

Thinking of K's frivolous look, Mo Yu waved her hands repeatedly and said, "No need, brother. I can go by myself." Then she turned around and ran away.

"Children are just full of energy," Ni Jiamu smiled and drove away.

Mo Yu shuttled between the school gardens. She walked along the cobblestone avenue and saw many colorful roses. There was also a fountain made of rare shell stones in the middle of the campus. All of these gave Mo Yu a beautiful enjoyment. She took a few photos and sent them to Lin Xiao.

Lin Xiao bombarded Mo Yu's phone with several 60-second voice messages. "This is fucking too high-end! Do you know what my university is like? It's full of wildflowers, fountains, and water pipes as big as pythons everywhere. If you step on them, they become fountains."

"Damn it, Xiaoyu, what a wonderful life you're living! If I had known earlier, I would have gone abroad. You guys have restaurants there, but we just have an ordinary cafeteria."

Mo Yu laughed so hard after hearing Lin Xiao's roar. A voice message that contained several "moms" was simply a loophole in the nine-year compulsory education.

Mo Yu continued walking forward, only to see a large crowd gathered in front of her, so dense that no one could get through. Heart-wrenching roars could be heard from within. Regardless of where they were, people's love of watching a show remained unchanged.

Mo Yu didn't want to pay attention and planned to walk back, but through a small gap she seemed to see Song Fei. The person who was assaulted was Song Fei.

Several blonde foreign girls were pulling Song Fei's hair and cursing at her. Their faces were flushed red and their appearance was totally inconsistent with what they were doing at the moment.

Mo Yu pushed through the crowd and pulled away the girl who was tearing at Song Fei. "What are you doing? It's too much for so many of you to bully one person."

Song Fei's hair fell all over the floor and her face was scratched, but she didn't shed a single tear.

"She doesn't deserve to stay in our school. She's a social welfare student. Don't mind your own business." The foreign girl was a head taller than Mo Yu, and she reached out to grab Song Fei from behind Mo Yu.

"Stop" (most of the words spoken abroad are in English, but I will write it in Chinese later) Mo Yu shouted with all her might. Those girls probably didn't expect that a girl with a gentle appearance and small stature could have such explosive power, and they all stood there in a daze.

Mo Yu took the opportunity to pull Song Fei out of the crowd, looking back as she walked. She was relieved when she saw no one was catching up. No one knew how scared she was at the time. Her toughness was all fake. Fortunately, the group believed her; if she had stayed any longer, she would have been exposed.

"Are you okay? I'll go to the infirmary to buy some medicine and bandage you. Wait for me." Mo Yu said and ran to the infirmary in a hurry without waiting for Song Fei's reply.

When Song Fei turned on the camera, she found that her face was swollen like a pig's head, covered with scars, her body was dirty, and her whole body was sore.

"Song Fei, you're in such a mess." She laughed at herself, the wound at the corner of her mouth moving, and her face trembled in pain.

"I'm back." Mo Yu ran out of breath, carrying a large bag of medical supplies in her hand.

"Just bear with it, Song Fei." Mo Yu used a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to gently disinfect Song Fei. After she was done, Song Fei's face was already pale from the pain, but even so, she didn't shed a single tear.

"Thank you, Mo Yu. We've only met a few times and you've helped me twice."

"It's okay. Why did they beat you? Just because you're a social welfare student?"

"I don't know either. Maybe there has always been a lot of hostility towards the poor in this world." Song Fei looked up at the sky and forced a pale smile. "I have obviously tried very hard, but just because of my humble status, everyone looks down on me."

"I think you're amazing," Mo Yu said, holding Song Fei's hand. "There are only a few spots in this school, and you managed to get in. You're truly outstanding. I don't look down on you at all. On the contrary, I think you're my role model. You'll definitely be able to shine brightest in the future, and you have to prove it to all those who look down on you."

"Thank you, Mo Yu. Thank you for talking to me so much. Not everyone has to be the one shining. I'm fine staying in the corner. I'm not really good at making friends."

"Song Fei, someone will hold a lamp, look at you in the corner, come over and say to you, can I sit next to you, Song Fei, let me be your friend."

Song Fei raised her head and was stunned for a long time. "Mo Yu, are you serious? You want to be my friend." This time she couldn't hold it back anymore, and tears flowed down her smooth white face. It was the first time in her eighteen years of life that someone said they wanted to be her friend.

"Yeah, Song Fei, I'll be your friend. If you don't believe me, let's make a pinky promise."

"We'll make a promise to each other for a hundred years and never change. If you change, you're a puppy."

Being understood by others is a wonderful thing. It is like someone holding a lantern and illuminating you while you are squatting in the dark. It is really rare to find someone who can take care of your emotions.
