Since the kindergarten is a boarding school, the children all stay at night, so there's no need for a morning welcome. Arriving in the classroom, I set about preparing the necessary supplies for the day's lessons. Once everything was ready, I led the children in their morning exercises.
After completing my morning exercise, I dragged my exhausted body back to the classroom and plopped down on a chair, breathing heavily. Then, Lele slowly approached and gently patted my back. This shy yet warm little girl rarely spoke, always seeming to be immersed in her own world. However, according to Lotta, she had a beautiful singing voice and could sing beautifully.
Lele's right foot has a slight limp, not an acquired condition but the result of a genetic defect. From birth, her right foot has been noticeably smaller than her left. This problem became apparent over time, as Lele began to learn to walk. Although she was able to stand and take steps, her gait was somewhat abnormal compared to a normal child. Each step required greater effort and balance to maintain a steady pace. This difference might not be noticeable to others, but for Lele herself, it was an undeniable flaw.
Perhaps it is due to her own physical defects that Lele is introverted and does not communicate with others. However, it is undeniable that although Lele is introverted and immersed in her own world, she has a gentle heart.
After Lele gently patted my back for a few moments, I slowly turned around and carefully embraced her. If she were giving me a back rub, I wouldn't have allowed it, fearing it would tire her out. But then, she might have thought I hated her. So, I happily accepted Lele's back pats and waited for them to continue before stopping, so she could understand she wasn't completely useless.
As I held Lele tightly in my arms, she felt as light as a feather. The moment I held her, I noticed something was wrong with her—she seemed a little dazed and vacant. Just then, a faint voice reached my ears: "Teacher Sui Sui, please put me down! I'm very heavy!" I lowered my head and took a closer look. It was Lele struggling to get off the ground. So, instead of letting go, I held her even tighter, whispering, "Lele isn't heavy at all! I can easily lift you." As if she wouldn't believe me, I even stood up holding her.
After hugging her for a while, I felt Lele's tense body gradually relax. So, I decided to chat with her: "Lele, do you know that you have a very nice voice? Your voice makes people feel warm in their hearts. We all love it! Whether it's Teacher Sui Sui, Teacher Luota, or the other children, they are all attracted by your beautiful voice. So, can you try to amplify your pleasant voice a little in the future? I understand what you are thinking. In fact, everyone has their own little flaws or shortcomings. Look at Teacher Sui Sui. Although she is a little fat, do you look down on me because of this?"
"Of course not! Teacher Sui Sui is such a nice person!" Lele interrupted me eagerly before I could finish. "Yes, Teacher Sui Sui has only been with you for two days. You don't think she's ugly or has a bad personality. Then you and your friends have known each other for so long, so how could they possibly dislike you? They'll definitely like you more and more, right?" I smiled, patted Lele's back, and whispered to her in a gentle voice. "Teacher Sui Sui, do you really like me to speak louder?" Lele looked at me expectantly, her eyes filled with longing and hope. "Of course I do. If you don't believe me, let's do a little experiment. Wait a minute, try speaking louder and see how your friends react. Okay? If they really like your loud voice, then we can speak even louder from now on, okay?" Lele nodded thoughtfully in agreement.
It was time for breakfast, so I gently took Lele's hand and walked slowly towards the restaurant. Just as we were about to reach the door of the restaurant, a small figure suddenly ran out from inside.
"Maggie, don't run too fast, be careful not to fall. Let's walk slowly." I shouted hurriedly.
Maggie ran up to me, held my other hand tightly, looked up at me and said, "Teacher Sui Sui, you and Sister Le Le haven't come to the restaurant yet. I really want to have breakfast with you, so I ran out to find you."
At this moment, Lele opened her mouth as if to say something, but when her eyes met mine, she quickly lowered her head like a child who had made a mistake. I understood her inner shyness and timidity, so I gave her a warm and firm look to express my encouragement.
Finally, Lele mustered up the courage to speak: "Sister Maggie, Teacher Sui Sui and I are actually going to the restaurant to look for you." However, as soon as she finished speaking, she fell silent again, her eyes becoming somewhat dim. Fortunately, this brief silence did not last long - Maggie suddenly ran up excitedly, took Lele's hand and said:
"Wow, Sister Lele, your voice is so nice! Can you chat with me more often in the future?" Hearing this, Lele was obviously a little surprised. She was stunned for a few seconds, and then lowered her head again. But before she could react, Maggie couldn't wait to continue:
"Sister Lele, I like you so much. It would be great if I could hear your beautiful voice every day!" After saying that, Maggie showed an innocent smile. Her brilliant look was like the brightest sunshine in spring, which made people love her.
Lele's eyes flickered between Maggie and me, as if trying to confirm something. Gradually, she began to realize that my bet with her wasn't a joke, but something I was serious about. This realization surprised and delighted her—it turned out there was something lovable about her!
Maggie held Lele's hand tightly and walked forward together. Just as they turned to leave, Lele suddenly turned back to look at me and said loudly: "Teacher Sui Sui, you are right! I am so happy now! Please come over quickly, Maggie and I will wait for you in the restaurant!"
Before she finished speaking, Lele followed Maggie out. When they met Principal Daphne, Lele raised her voice to greet her: "Good morning, Principal Mom!" Seeing this, Principal Daphne couldn't help but smile with satisfaction.
You know, Lele used to always keep his head down and speak softly, but now he can communicate with others so confidently and generously. This change undoubtedly makes Director Daphne very satisfied, and it has also brought Lele an unprecedented happiness experience.
