However, simply adding and upgrading the kindergarten's hardware and software facilities is clearly not enough. Life skills are equally crucial for children. While the children in our kindergarten currently have excellent life skills, there is still significant room for improvement. Furthermore, we plan to add a series of life skills-related courses. For example, cooking classes will teach children how to prepare delicious meals; gardening classes will allow children to personally grow flowers, vegetables, and experience the wonders of nature; and craft classes will cultivate children's hands-on skills and creativity. Through these hands-on courses, children will truly master the skills of self-care and independent living. Of course, we have intentionally incorporated many fun elements into the design of these courses, hoping that children will fully experience joy and satisfaction in the learning process. There is no doubt that through these measures, the children's life skills will be further improved, enabling them to more confidently face the challenges and life situations of the future.

After a quick look, I set my sights on one of the newly added items: a wood stove and outdoor kitchenette. The decision to build such an outdoor kitchenette was based on the following considerations:

Promoting Children's Well-Rounded Development: The outdoor kitchenette is like a magical world, opening the door to a colorful life for children. Here, children become little gourmets, fully exploring the mysteries of cooking and baking. Through hands-on activities, they not only learn how to chop and mix ingredients, but also master simple seasoning techniques. This hands-on experience allows children to deeply appreciate the little details of life, while gradually cultivating their own self-care skills and independence. Savoring the delicious food they have prepared brings an indescribable sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Strengthening hands-on skills and creativity: Entering the outdoor kitchenette, children are immediately captivated by the colorful kitchen toys and real kitchen utensils. They excitedly pick up spatulas and spoons and begin imitating the adults' cooking. In the process, their hands become increasingly nimble, and their eyes can accurately grasp every detail of the cooking process, significantly strengthening their hand-eye coordination. Furthermore, they are no longer limited to traditional recipes, but instead unleash their imagination and creativity, experimenting with different ingredients and methods to create unique dishes. Perhaps a child will spread chocolate sauce all over a loaf of bread, or combine fruit to form a cute little animal—these novel creations are truly eye-catching. It is this free creative space that unleashes the creative spirit hidden deep within children.

Improving social skills: The outdoor kitchenette is more than just a stage for individual talent; it's also a playground for children to collaborate and grow together. Here, everyone has a clear division of labor: some handle the washing and selecting of vegetables, while others focus on the cooking process. Each child plays an important role, and only by working together can each dish be successfully prepared. Through collaboration, the children learn to listen to others, respect each other's ideas, and constantly adjust to reach consensus. This spirit of teamwork not only improves task completion efficiency but also fosters friendships, social interaction, and emotional connection among the children. Watching the children cheer with joy upon successfully preparing a dish creates a warm and harmonious atmosphere that is truly touching.

Cultivating common sense and safety awareness: Understanding common sense and safety knowledge is crucial for young children. The outdoor kitchenette provides an excellent learning opportunity. During activities, teachers patiently explain to children the correct use of various kitchen utensils, such as how to hold a knife without injury and how to avoid burns from a hot pan. Children also learn the importance of food hygiene and the importance of washing hands before handling food. Through repeated emphasis and practical application, these common sense and safety awareness principles are gradually ingrained in the children's minds, becoming good habits in their daily lives.

Strengthening self-confidence and optimism: When children participate in outdoor kitchen activities, they experience firsthand the fruits of their hard work. Starting with selecting ingredients, they learn to distinguish between vegetables, fruits, and meats. Cleaning ingredients cultivates their patience and meticulousness. The cooking process is challenging, requiring mastery of heat control and seasoning techniques. But the sense of accomplishment when each delicious dish emerges from the wok is indescribable. This experience of creating value through hard work deeply imprints itself in children and becomes a source of confidence. Furthermore, when faced with potential failures or setbacks, such as unpalatable dishes or cooking errors, children learn from them and approach them with a positive attitude, confident that they will do better next time. Over time, this optimistic outlook will grow with them, helping them to bravely face the difficulties and challenges of life.

Playful and educational: Outdoor kitchenette activities cleverly integrate learning into play, achieving a perfect combination of "learning through play" and "playing through learning." Here, children no longer passively accept knowledge but actively explore, discover, and put it into practice. For example, during the preparation process, teachers can guide children to understand the nutritional content of different foods and the importance of healthy eating. During the cooking process, children can be taught math knowledge, such as measuring ingredients and calculating seasoning ratios. And when working together as a team to complete a dish, children's communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are strengthened. This playful and educational approach greatly stimulates children's interest and participation in learning, making learning easy, fun, and effective.

Adapting to primary school life: Developing good living and hygiene habits is crucial for children entering primary school. During outdoor kitchenette activities, children gradually develop good habits, such as washing hands before and after meals and keeping the kitchen tidy and clean. Furthermore, strong self-care skills help children more quickly adapt to the daily routine and schedule of primary school. Learning to independently complete simple tasks, such as packing their school bags and tying their shoes, undoubtedly strengthens their independence and confidence. Once these children enter primary school, they will be able to more confidently navigate the changes brought about by their new environment, smoothly transitioning, and embarking on a new learning journey.

In short, setting up an outdoor kitchen has profound implications for children's development. It not only promotes their comprehensive physical and mental development, but also fosters a wide range of life skills, practical abilities, and social interaction through hands-on activities and real-life experiences. These valuable assets will lay a solid foundation for children's future learning and life, helping them thrive and move towards a bright future.

As I slowly approached the open space, I could see the rough outline of the wood stove. I have to admit, Lotta's been working really hard lately. Overseeing the construction isn't easy, especially since she's probably never seen anything like it before. But the progress is impressive. Just then, Lotta glided toward me, a proud smile radiating from her pretty face, as bright and beautiful as a flower blooming in spring.

"Hey, how about it? Do you think it's great?" she asked with a little pride.

"Well, that's really great!" I exclaimed in admiration from the bottom of my heart. "In my opinion, your ability as a supervisor is simply innate."

Hearing my praise, Lotta couldn't help but smile. Then she pointed to the wood stove and said happily, "Next, we just need to install the grate bars, and our wood stove will be completely finished!"

After Lotta finished speaking, the workers installed the grate. Our wood stove was complete. After the grate was installed, Lotta clapped her hands and said excitedly, "Great! Now there's only one last step—starting the fire." She picked up some dry branches and paper from the side and prepared to light the wood stove.

I watched her movements with curiosity, my heart full of anticipation. Lotta carefully placed the paper in the stove and lit it with a lighter. The flames spread quickly, licking the branches and making crackling sounds.

Soon, the fire grew bigger and bigger, and the whole wood stove was surrounded by warm flames. Lotta's face was filled with a satisfied smile, as if she had completed a great work.

"It worked!" she exclaimed happily. "Our wood stove is finally working."

I couldn't help but step forward, feeling the heat emanating from the stove, and a sense of accomplishment welled up in my heart. This seemingly simple wood stove embodies our hard work and dedication.

Next, we can use it to cook delicious food and enjoy the outdoors. I'm already imagining the cozy scene of sharing delicious food by the fire pit.
