Chapter 164 Hanfu Photoshoot
Along the way, I introduced them to Hanfu. "This is Hanfu, the traditional attire of our country's Huazhong people. It has a long history and unique design style, dating back thousands of years!"
Upon hearing this, the people around gathered around, their faces filled with surprise and admiration. Someone curiously asked, "Really? So this kind of clothing has a history of thousands of years?" Another exclaimed, "Wow, that's amazing!" After hearing their questions, I smiled and explained Hanfu to them in more detail. I told them that Hanfu, whose full name is "Traditional Clothing of the Han Nationality," is also known as Han clothing, Han costume, and Chinese clothing. It is a traditional clothing and accessory system with a unique Han ethnic style and character, derived from the dominant ideology of "Huaxia-Han" culture.
I went on to explain that Hanfu's origins can be traced back to the Yellow Emperor period, or the Huaxia era, in China. After its establishment during the Zhou Dynasty and its refinement and formalization during the Han Dynasty, it ultimately became a complete system. This system embodies the long history and profound cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.
Furthermore, Hanfu is more than just a symbol of China's "state of finery" and "a nation of etiquette." More importantly, it embodies the Han people's exceptional craftsmanship and aesthetics, including dyeing, weaving, and embroidery. These exquisite techniques make Hanfu a treasure of China's traditional culture. Furthermore, Hanfu is a crucial carrier of China's intangible cultural heritage and protected Chinese arts and crafts, carrying the wisdom of the Chinese nation for millennia. More than just a garment, Hanfu is a cultural heritage and expression, carrying the weight of 5,000 years of Chinese history and showcasing the unique aesthetic values and cultural connotations of the Chinese nation.
As a representative of the traditional clothing of the Huazhong ethnic group, Hanfu boasts a unique design style. From its form to its details, every detail imbues it with a profound cultural heritage. The collar design, sleeve width, and hem length all reflect the ancient people's emphasis on etiquette, beauty, and identity. Furthermore, Hanfu emphasizes harmony and unity in color, using red, black, white, yellow, and blue as its primary colors. Through the clever use of these colors, Hanfu expresses diverse meanings and emotions.
After the Hanfu introduction, we reached the summit and found a perfect spot for the view. Soon, the sun slowly rose, its orange glow gradually illuminating the entire sky. The scenery before me was breathtaking, and I couldn't help but be captivated. The distant mountains loomed in the morning light, like an ink painting; the nearby trees shimmered in the sunlight, as if shrouded in golden light. It all felt so refreshing, like being in a fairyland.
At that moment, I suddenly noticed Sanjay standing beside me. His lips curled up slightly, a faint smile playing across his face, and his gaze rested gently on me. Those eyes, brimming with an indescribable warmth and kindness, moved my heart. In that instant, I seemed to grasp something. Perhaps this is the true meaning of travel—not just about seeing beautiful scenery, but also about making good friends and experiencing the beauty of human nature. On this journey, we meet, get to know, and help others, creating beautiful memories together. These precious experiences will become our most valuable treasures in life.
After watching the sunrise, the others left, leaving only Ferro and me. So, we began our mission for the day—photography. I pulled out my carefully prepared props from my backpack: an oil-paper umbrella and an ancient-style fan. Then, I began striking various graceful poses.
I gently twirled my oil-paper umbrella, a gentle breeze rustling my skirt and hair. Ferro stood nearby, intently capturing this beautiful moment with his camera. His eyes were filled with tenderness, as if he were seeing the real me through the lens.
"It's beautiful." He exclaimed softly.
I couldn't help but laugh at his praise and continued to change my posture. Just then, a sudden gust of wind blew and the fan in my hand accidentally slipped. Just as I was about to bend down to pick it up, Ferro had already quickly picked up the fan first.
He walked slowly toward me, his steps light and graceful, each one a breath of grace and ease. As he reached me, he gently extended his hand and offered me his fan. His long, powerful fingers inadvertently touched mine. At that moment, a strange feeling washed over me, and I involuntarily raised my head to meet his gaze. Perhaps because I had never been so close to the opposite sex before, a deep sense of shyness welled up within me.
His eyes were deep and mysterious, seemingly concealing endless stories and emotions. In that moment of our gaze, I saw a flicker of indefinable emotion, but I couldn't quite grasp its meaning. Perhaps it was my limited understanding of men, my inability to discern such subtle emotional connections. However, as a 30-year-old single, I didn't recognize the true meaning of his gaze, misinterpreting it as a sign that I was clumsy, unable to even hold the props steady during the shoot.
"Thank you," I whispered, my cheeks flushing as I took the fan. This unconscious shyness made me feel a little awkward, since I'm not usually shy. But now, facing this strange and charming man, I seemed to lose my usual composure.
Ferro smiled and shook his head gently, as if to tell me you're welcome. His smile was warm and friendly, reassuring. Then, he gestured for me to continue taking pictures, as if encouraging me to savor the moment. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my inner turmoil, and readjusted my posture, ready for the next shot.
Growing up, I've never really enjoyed taking photos, even to the point of resisting them. For me, having my photo taken was a nerve-wracking and unsettling experience. Unless absolutely necessary, like graduation photos, family portraits, or work requirements, I avoided facing the camera. Even when taking small, unfocused photos like those of a one-inch camera, my head would shake uncontrollably. This was both embarrassing and troubling. Furthermore, my insecurities about my appearance and figure made me even less inclined to take photos, resulting in very few photos of myself.
During a recent trip, most of the photos I took were candid moments captured by Wei'er, or I struggled to select a few I was satisfied with after taking numerous photos in quick succession. Initially, I felt incredibly rushed and overwhelmed. All the Hanfu photography techniques I'd learned while watching Douyin in bed the previous night had completely gone out the window. Fortunately, however, with the constant praise from Ferro, Lillian, and Sanjay, I gradually relaxed and began to enjoy the process. Their compliments and encouragement gave me confidence, gradually letting go of the burden, and ultimately, I successfully captured some natural and meaningful photos. These photos not only captured beautiful moments but also made me realize the charm of photography.
